Mr. CEO's Ex-Wife: A Cunning Comeback
Chapter 454: Can You Untie Me Now?
CHAPTER 454: CHAPTER 454: CAN YOU UNTIE ME NOW?
Chantelle wanted to turn around to look, but the moment she thought of Daniel’s face, she forced herself to stay still. She didn’t want to see him again.
The sharp pain in her back returned. Chantelle gripped the bedsheet tightly and took in a slow, silent breath. She didn’t want Daniel to notice her pain.
Daniel carefully removed the glass shards from her back. Then he disinfected the wounds and applied the ointment carefully. His movements were gentle. He did not use the chance to hurt her or take revenge.
"Can you untie me now?" Chantelle asked.
Daniel didn’t respond. He walked toward the bathroom and disappeared.
A moment later, she felt warmth spread across her back. Daniel had returned and was wiping her back with a warm towel.
"Let go of me. I can do it myself." Chantelle tried to move away.
Daniel still said nothing. His palm rested on her waist, and his fingers brushed gently against her skin. A quick shiver rushed up her spine, and goosebumps rose along her bare waist.
After a while, Chantelle felt something warm lightly covering her back.
"I’m sorry," Daniel said. He sighed helplessly.
"Do you think you can do whatever you want? Do you think you can control everything and make everyone listen to you?" Chantelle scolded him heavily.
"No. I never thought of it that way..."
"Then how dare you take something that doesn’t belong to you?" Chantelle glared and she was obviously mad.
"I’m doing that for your own good." Daniel’s eyes were filled with affection, like a father gently comforting a child.
"Thank you, but I don’t need it. Please stay away from me. I still want to live. My children need me!" Chantelle cried.
"I’m sorry. It’s my fault. I failed to protect you."
Daniel had never intended to hurt her. It had been an accident. But because it happened under his territory, he believed he had to take responsibility.
However, he did not think he was wrong for taking the peace talisman from her.
He only apologized for hurting her.
When Daniel lowered his guard, Chantelle took a blade from her pocket. She wanted to cut the cloth tying her wrist. But before she could do it, Daniel grabbed the blade away from her.
"What are you doing?" Daniel yelled. "The peace talisman is not just any talisman. Keeping it with you will bring danger. It could even cost your life."
"So if I don’t give you the talisman, you’re not going to untie me?"
Daniel didn’t respond. He turned and walked straight into the bathroom without saying a word.
About twenty minutes later, Daniel returned and lay beside Chantelle on the bed. He gently touched the wound on her back, then untied her hands and pulled her into his arms.
At that moment, Chantelle bent her knee and drove it hard into Daniel’s groin.
Daniel had not expected her to be so ruthless. His face instantly turned pale. But even so, he caught her hand when she tried to run.
"Where do you think you’re going dressed like that?"
Chantelle looked down and realized her clothes had been cut to pieces. She could only use the quilt to cover her naked body.
However, Chantelle still insisted on leaving. She could not stay with Daniel for even another minute. He was too overbearing.
"It’s none of your business!" Chantelle sneered.
Right after she said that, the phone on the nightstand rang. Chantelle thought it was Calvin who called her. She picked it up without checking the caller ID.
"How is it? Send me the address. I’ll be right there."
But a woman’s voice came through the phone. "Who... who are you? Why are you using Daniel’s phone?"
Hearing that, Chantelle rolled her eyes and threw the phone onto Daniel’s chest.
Daniel checked the caller ID and hung up. He reached to grab Chantelle’s wrist.
Chantelle shook his hand off. She grabbed the ashtray from the nightstand and shouted, "Don’t come near me. I will kill you!"
"Who called you just now? Is he the one who gave you the peace talisman? Is he that important to you?" Daniel sharply asked.
"It’s none of your business!" Chantelle growled. Holding the ashtray tightly, she stormed out of the room in anger.
Mr. Charles tried to stop her. But Chantelle threw the ashtray onto the floor. The loud crash startled him, and he quickly stepped back into his room.
"Sir, Mrs. Wilson has left. She seems very angry," Mr. Charles said at the door while Daniel was changing his clothes in the bedroom.
"Mr. Charles, can you help me find my old photo? The one where I was standing by the sea?" Daniel asked as he walked out of the bedroom.
Mr. Charles hesitated. "Your old photos? Old Mr. Wilson stored them away, and some were burned. It may be difficult to find."
"Forget it if you can’t," Daniel said and quickened his pace when he heard a car engine outside.
By the time he stepped outside, Chantelle had already driven off. Daniel had no choice but to take another car and follow her.
At that moment, Chantelle was only thinking about Joseph. She did not notice Daniel behind her. If something happened to Joseph, she might never learn the truth about her parents and the peace talisman.
Inside the car, Daniel kept calling Chantelle. As expected, she did not answer his calls.
"Ashton, check which house Mrs. Wilson is going to and send someone there now."
Daniel was not sure if anyone knew the peace talisman was with Chantelle. If someone had found out, Chantelle’s life would be in danger.
After calling Ashton, Daniel called Kane. It was nearly midnight. Kane thought he was dreaming when his phone rang.
"Kane! Mommy is in danger!"
"What? What’s wrong?" Kane asked worriedly when he heard Daniel’s words.
"Listen to me carefully, Kane. Call your mommy now and tell her Stephanie is sick. Tell her to come home as soon as possible. Then transfer the call to me so I can talk to her. Can you do that?" Daniel said as he sped up. He had to stay closer behind Chantelle’s car. He was afraid something might happen to her.
"Okay, I got it." Kane hung up and immediately called Chantelle.
Chantelle answered Kane’s call immediately.
"Mommy, Steph has a fever. Come back quickly!"
Hearing that, Chantelle’s heart skipped a beat. "What happened? Tell me in detail about her condition."
"Her face and forehead are burning hot, and she said her throat hurts..."
Chantelle frowned.
Stephanie was fine earlier. Why did she suddenly have a fever?
