CHAPTER 457: CHAPTER 457: I DIDN’T LOCK HER UP

"Old Mr. Nelsen, how are you?" Daniel greeted Steve the moment he saw him. He was not surprised to see him here.

Daniel had personally sent Steve the invitation, knowing he was in Easthan.

Steve cared deeply for Camille. Her engagement party was a big event for him.

Daniel glanced at the people standing behind Steve. To his surprise, Steve had only brought the Nelsen brothers with him.

"You’re a capable young man. You’ve managed the Wilson Group of Companies well," Steve said with a nod as he looked at Daniel.

Camille stood beside Steve. She was wearing a beautiful gown and drew everyone’s attention as soon as she appeared. She smiled shyly when Daniel looked at her.

Daniel guided Steve and the others toward the dining area. Many people came forward to congratulate them, but Daniel only shook their hands as he passed by.

Suddenly, someone called out his name. Daniel turned and stared at the Nelsen brothers with a cold expression.

Rowan smirked. "So, is Ms. Chantelle coming today?"

"Don’t worry. The party will proceed smoothly." Daniel didn’t answer Rowan’s question directly. He knew Rowan was afraid that Chantelle would show up and cause trouble.

But the next thing the Nelsen brothers said left Daniel confused.

"Did you lock Chantelle up?" Oscar glared at him, clearly furious.

Rowan’s expression darkened. Alexander’s did too.

They looked as if they were ready to punch Daniel if he dared to say yes.

Although Daniel was confused, he didn’t show it. He replied calmly, "We live in a law-governed country. It’s illegal to lock someone up or restrict their freedom."

"Then where is she?" Oscar asked again.

Daniel paused to think. No matter how he looked at it, there was no way the Nelsen brothers cared about Chantelle more than Camille, their own sister.

Why would they risk ruining Camille’s engagement party?

The way the Nelsen brothers were acting was strange.

Did they like Chantelle, too? But how could all three of them like her at the same time?

"I didn’t lock her up. She will be here soon."

"What? She’s coming to the party? How could you do this to her? You’re humiliating her on purpose!" Rowan shouted angrily.

"Wait. Let me make this clear. As Camille’s brothers, do you want Chantelle to show up or not show up today?" Daniel asked with a cold expression.

Hearing Daniel’s remark, Rowan’s face turned gloomy.

It seemed the Nelsen brothers were caught in a dilemma. They wanted to see Chantelle and make sure she was safe, but they also didn’t want her to watch Daniel get engaged to Camille. They were afraid it would hurt her.

"Why do you care about her?" Daniel asked, confused.

Rowan and Oscar looked at each other. They didn’t know how to answer. They quickly apologized and left.

Daniel watched their backs with a frown. Then he turned to a bodyguard beside him and said, "Keep an eye on them. Tell me right away if anything happens, especially if it involves Mrs. Wilson."

"Yes, sir." The bodyguard immediately told his men to follow the Nelsen brothers closely.

"Ro, I don’t think Daniel locked Chantelle up," Alexander said. He had gone through many things with Daniel and Chantelle in Carcosa. He did not want to see Daniel betray her.

Even though Alexander did not think Daniel and Chantelle would get back together, he did not want Chantelle to be hurt.

"I have a bad feeling something is going to happen. Tell the public relations department to be ready. Alex, stay with Grandpa. I’m worried he won’t be able to handle it," Rowan said with a deep frown.

Since Camille’s engagement was announced on the Wilson Group of Companies’ website, the three Nelsen brothers suspected Daniel had a hidden motive. They knew how much Daniel cared for Chantelle and how much he hated Camille.

Besides, with everything Daniel had achieved, it didn’t make sense for him to ruin his marriage just for benefits.

When the news came out, the Nelsen brothers strongly opposed it. But Camille was determined to marry Daniel no matter what, as if she were under some spell.

Steve had no choice but to agree after Camille threw tantrums and even threatened to kill herself in front of him.

Since he was the one who made the engagement contract with Wesley, he thought there was nothing wrong with fulfilling it now that their children were older. He just didn’t like that Daniel had already been married and had three children.

However, Steve’s earlier concerns seemed to fade after seeing the engagement ceremony today.

As long as Daniel took care of Camille, nothing else mattered to him.

The grand and luxurious engagement party showed that Camille had a special place in Daniel’s heart.

Camille was genuinely thrilled by the scene. When she arrived, the men’s attention was all on her, and the women either admired her or envied her. She felt that this was the life she deserved, where she was surrounded and adored like the moon among the stars.

"Congratulations, Ms. Nelsen. Like Romeo and Juliet, you and Mr. Wilson are a match made in heaven." A wealthy woman walked up to Camille to congratulate her.

"Thank you," Camille replied with a graceful nod.

Once one person congratulated her, many others followed. With all the compliments and flattery coming at her, she was filled with joy.

"Ms. Nelsen looks especially beautiful today. You’ve outshone all the other famous ladies."

Although the words sounded like praise, they caused several young celebrities to look at her with disdain. They walked away without offering any congratulations.

Camille didn’t notice any of this. She was still enjoying the feeling of being admired.

It wasn’t that she had never been admired before, but this time it felt different. The people praising her now were of much higher status, and they were complimenting her while acknowledging her connection with Daniel. How could she not feel excited?

"Ms. Nelsen, is that necklace from Xenium’s latest collection? I heard it’s worth over fifty million," a girl asked, staring at Camille’s diamond necklace with envy.

After she spoke, everyone’s attention shifted to the jewelry Camille was wearing.

They knew her dress was a limited edition piece from a luxury brand, costing several million dollars.

The diamond necklace was even more eye-catching, making Camille look completely adorned in wealth.

In addition to the diamond necklace, Camille was also wearing earrings, bracelets, and rings. One look was enough to tell that they were all extremely expensive.

"These were all prepared by Mr. Wilson. It was his thoughtful gesture. I don’t think they can be judged by their price," Camille said, trying to hide the smugness on her face.

People around her quickly agreed and praised her.

But the moment Camille walked away, the group of wealthy ladies looked at her with disdain, as if she were a peacock showing off its feathers—proud, arrogant, and looking down on others. They then began to mock her.
