Mr. CEO's Ex-Wife: A Cunning Comeback
Chapter 458: You Think This Party Is For Her?
CHAPTER 458: CHAPTER 458: YOU THINK THIS PARTY IS FOR HER?
"Even though she’s from the Nelsen family, she acted like some country girl who’s never gone out before. Was she that desperate to show off all her jewelry?"
"Don’t you know? She was only found by the Nelsen family when she was already grown. Maybe she really was a country girl before."
"No wonder she doesn’t seem to have the same presence as the three young masters of the Nelsen family. What do you think Mr. Wilson sees in her? Why would he give her such a grand engagement party?"
"You think this party is for her? Have you ever seen a more low-key engagement party?"
Only then did everyone begin to realize how strange today’s engagement really was. The bride-to-be didn’t make a grand entrance. She wasn’t accompanied by her future husband with affection or attention. Camille had simply entered the venue like any regular guest.
This event seemed more like Daniel formally introducing his children to society, rather than celebrating an engagement.
After all, Daniel had spent his time introducing his sons and daughter, who had just returned, while greeting and chatting with the guests. He talked warmly and affectionately about his children, but he never mentioned Camille.
The distinguished ladies exchanged glances, waiting for Camille to embarrass herself.
Suddenly, everyone’s attention shifted to the entrance when a figure appeared. Even the wealthy women who had just been complaining about Camille stood up to see who it was.
Chantelle, wearing a light blue dress, walked into the banquet hall. Her delicate and refined face looked almost ethereal. Her graceful figure was wrapped in a silky dress decorated with faint, sparkling diamonds. People could not look away. They were so captivated that they forgot to breathe, watching the hem of her dress sway as she walked.
Everyone naturally compared her to Camille, who had appeared earlier. Many felt that Camille’s beauty seemed enhanced, and although she was still beautiful, she lacked a certain elegance. In contrast, Chantelle’s beauty looked completely natural and flawless, with nothing to criticize.
In her anger, Camille nearly bit through her lip when she saw Chantelle take all the attention. Luckily, Anthony had already prepared a plan to deal with Chantelle before Camille even arrived. The plan was meant to stop Chantelle from causing any trouble.
With a quick wink, Camille signaled a wealthy woman, who then spoke in a strange tone, "Isn’t that Mr. Wilson’s ex-wife? Did she come here to ask him for alimony? It would have been more dignified to ask him in private."
She said it on purpose so everyone would know that Chantelle and Daniel were divorced. She also made Chantelle sound greedy, as if she enjoyed relying on others.
Gasps spread through the crowd, while Chantelle simply smiled.
Thea was furious at first, but when she saw Chantelle’s calm reaction, she silently gave her a thumbs up. With that kind of beauty, no matter what she did, she could make it work.
"During the Southburg flood relief effort, did the Lowe family only donate five hundred thousand dollars? The Charity Association, on the other hand, donated twenty million," Chantelle said as she raised her eyebrows. She spoke calmly, and she was confident in her own actions.
The woman’s face turned red, then pale. Back then, her family’s company had been mocked online for donating too small amounts of money. They were forced to give another two million just to calm the backlash. Now that Chantelle had brought it up again in public, everyone found the situation amusing.
"What does the Charity Association’s donation have to do with you? All of your expenses were paid by Mr. Wilson!" The woman’s embarrassment quickly turned into anger as she snapped back.
Chantelle’s smile became wider as she said, "I donated five million under my own name. Do you want me to show proof? Daniel is right here, and he won’t deny it. So how dare you say I rely on him? If you keep slandering me like this, Ms. Lowe, I will take legal action."
Daphne Lowe’s face turned pale as she stepped back. Ever since the donation issue, her family’s company stocks had been falling, and the company was already close to going bankrupt. If she caused another problem and ended up in a lawsuit, her family would likely kick her out.
"Is the dress you’re wearing plagiarized? I remember it was designed by the famous international designer Corrine. Corrine hasn’t released a new collection in years. Your dress looks like a copy of her design. Plagiarizing is just as shameful as stealing!"
Another one of Camille’s followers stepped forward to cause trouble.
Chantelle looked at her with a lazy glance, and with just that look, the woman lowered her head in embarrassment.
However, Camille had come prepared. She had bribed several people to speak for her, so whenever one person backed down, another stepped forward to continue attacking.
"No way. Even if Mr. Wilson left me, I wouldn’t sink so low that I couldn’t afford a dress and had to copy someone else’s design. I wouldn’t want to associate with someone like you if I were her."
"Could it be that Ms. Chantelle is just trying to outshine Ms. Nelsen with a fake dress to win Mr. Wilson’s attention?"
"Mr. Wilson has been engaged to Ms. Nelsen since childhood. They would have already been living together if Ms. Chantelle hadn’t interfered so shamelessly. As humans, we should at least have a conscience, or we’ll face the consequences one day."
Upon hearing this, Thea couldn’t hold back her anger and was about to step forward to argue with them.
Chantelle gently held Thea’s hand down and smiled as she looked at the three women speaking. The three of them stood together and acted so confidently that they were no longer intimidated by Chantelle as they stared at her.
"I’m here today because Mr. Wilson invited me. I have no interest in Ms. Nelsen’s man. Please don’t misunderstand why I’m here, Ms. Nelsen."
Camille clenched her teeth and forced a casual smile. She didn’t believe for a second that Daniel had invited her, nor that Chantelle had no interest in him.
Why else would she dress so beautifully if not to steal her man?
Camille shot a sharp look at the person beside her, and soon after, security guards walked over to escort Chantelle out.
Chantelle frowned and showed them her invitation, but the guard snatched it away and insisted she came without being invited.
"She still says she’s not after Mr. Wilson, yet she won’t even let the security guards take her out. She’s like a stubborn bandaid that won’t come off!"
"Is she addicted to being a mistress? Mr. Wilson doesn’t want her anymore, but she keeps throwing herself at him!"
"Her family went bankrupt, and she used her children to keep Mr. Wilson attached to her. Of course, she won’t let go so easily."
