CHAPTER 459: CHAPTER 459: WHERE DOES IT HURT?

Chantelle had come today because she wanted to test whether the lucky charm she carried would bring her misfortune. She suspected that yesterday’s car accident might have been related to it.

If the other party planned to confront her or take the lucky charm from her, then showing up like this would give them the perfect chance.

However, she was already tired of listening to the constant insults before she even saw the person she was waiting for.

She was about to leave, but she wanted to take the children with her.

"I’m sorry, but you need to go to the security room for identity verification," the security guard said. Chantelle was just about to walk away when Camille signaled the guard to stop her, and he did.

It was clearly done on purpose to humiliate her.

"I want to see Mr. Wilson," Chantelle said coldly, not interested in arguing with them.

Daniel had invited her today and even provided the dress she was wearing. It was only right that he should be the one to deal with this situation.

"Mr. Wilson is unable to see you right now. Please come with us," the security guard said as he reached out to pull her away.

The women beside Camille wore their smug expressions, waiting to see Chantelle thrown out.

Everyone else simply stood by and watched the scene unfold in silence.

After all, she was still the chairman of the Charity Association, and anyone with common sense would know better than to openly offend her.

Chantelle let out a soft sigh. She really had no intention of causing trouble today. But since people kept coming at her one after another, she decided she wouldn’t hold back anymore.

Before she could move, the bodyguard was suddenly tossed aside like a rag doll. Daniel stood behind him with an intimidating aura. His expression was cold as he glared at the remaining bodyguards.

Camille had dismissed the other bodyguards earlier. They didn’t know what had happened, but seeing Daniel’s expression, they understood something serious was wrong. They quickly lowered their heads and admitted their mistake.

"Daniel, don’t blame them. They were only doing their job. Chantelle, if you want to stay, you can. But stop causing trouble. It won’t do you any good." Camille suddenly appeared, acting gentle and virtuous.

She put on a pitiful expression, her eyes red, and tightly held Daniel’s arm, but he pushed her away ruthlessly.

Daniel stood beside Chantelle, his eyes blazing, and said, "It is my men’s duty to protect my family and me. Those who don’t recognize their position have no place in the Wilson household."

Everyone was stunned. Today was supposed to be his engagement to Camille, yet he stood with another woman and mocked Camille for not recognizing her place.

Could Camille have married into the Wilson family as the second wife?

The audience stared at Camille’s face, feeling that something was about to happen.

Camille was shocked and furious at the same time. Tears covered her face as she moved closer to Daniel and said, "Daniel, I know you’re letting Chantelle stay here because of the three children. Don’t worry. I won’t be upset as long as she doesn’t make trouble."

Daniel frowned, not because of what Camille said, but because he wanted to take Chantelle’s hand. When he reached out, Chantelle slapped his hand away so hard that the back of it turned red.

"She is my wife and the hostess of this event. If she wants to stay, she has every right to stay. She doesn’t need anyone’s permission, not even mine," Daniel said firmly.

Camille stared at him in disbelief. She kept shaking her head, unable to accept that Daniel would treat her this way.

"Daniel, what do you mean? Today is supposed to be your engagement to Camille, but you’re saying Chantelle is the hostess of today’s event?" Rowan questioned. He appeared to be standing up for Camille, but he was actually trying to figure out Daniel’s intentions.

Did he ever wrong Chantelle? If he had, they would not let him walk away so easily today.

As for Camille, she was the one who refused to listen and ended up embarrassing herself. Nothing could be done about that.

"Chantelle is my wife and the mother of my three children. She is also the hostess today. What’s the problem?" Daniel did not answer Rowan’s question directly.

Rowan cursed him in his heart and continued, "Then what is the Nelsen family’s position today? If you don’t give us a clear explanation, we won’t let this matter go!"

Oscar glanced around and couldn’t find Steve anywhere, so he knew Daniel was planning something. Since Daniel wasn’t intentionally trying to anger the elder, Oscar chose to stay silent.

Alexander looked at Chantelle’s face and asked with concern, "Chantelle, you don’t look well. Are you feeling sick?"

Chantelle gave a small smile and shook her head. The dress was soft and didn’t irritate the wound on her back, but she was worried she might have worsened it when she dealt with the bodyguard earlier. She wondered if it had started bleeding again.

As soon as Daniel heard Alexander’s words, he quickly pulled Chantelle into his arms and asked, worried, "Are you alright? Where does it hurt?"

Chantelle shook her head. Seeing that there was nothing more to do here, she suggested that they leave.

Daniel took the chance to hold her hand, unwilling to let go of her. He leaned down and whispered, "Just wait a little longer. Something interesting is about to happen."

Chantelle was about to refuse when she noticed a familiar figure moving quickly through the crowd. She had the urge to chase after him.

"Don’t go after him. He’ll show himself," Daniel said softly as he wrapped an arm around her waist and rested his chin on her head.

"How could you treat me like this, Daniel? You promised to marry me!" Camille finally burst out, shouting angrily.

She only received a quick glance from Daniel before he shifted his attention back to Chantelle. "It is the heir of the Wilson Group of Companies who wants to marry you," he said.

"Are you not the heir of the Wilson Group of Companies? Daniel, is this woman using your children to threaten you? I can’t believe you would lie to me!" Camille cried, covering her face with her hands.
