CHAPTER 460: CHAPTER 460: I WANT TO SCRATCH HER FACE

Rowan, who was beside her, couldn’t bear to watch her like that, so he gently patted her back to comfort her. Camille leaned into his arms and cried even harder. Through her sobs, she said, "Ro, I want to marry Daniel. I want to marry him no matter what. He can’t treat me like this. How could he make me fall for him and then just throw me away?"

"Go back first. I’ll make sure he gives you an explanation," Rowan said, giving Oscar a look. Oscar reluctantly helped take Camille from him.

But Camille refused to go. She shoved Oscar aside and glared viciously at Chantelle. "No, I won’t leave! This is my engagement party. The one who should leave is not me! It’s her!"

After saying that, she rushed at Chantelle and grabbed her face, convinced Daniel had been bewitched by her looks and had suddenly changed his mind.

The unexpected turn caught Rowan off guard. He grabbed Camille and snapped, "What do you think you’re doing?"

"I want to scratch her face. She’s the one who made me into a laughingstock! She stole my Daniel!" Camille lunged again, ignoring Rowan’s attempt to hold her back.

Oscar placed a firm hand on her shoulder to stop her from rushing at Chantelle and led her away from the scene.

Frustrated, Chantelle pinched Daniel’s waist and said, "It’s entirely your fault. You made me the target of unwarranted insults and even made people hate me for no reason at all."

"It is my fault. I should have come out to meet you when you arrived, but something came up at the last minute and I was delayed. Mrs. Wilson, please forgive me, okay?" Daniel said, tilting his head and giving her puppy-like eyes to convince her.

"Using your looks to scheme. How shameless," Chantelle said, turning her head away and refusing to look at him.

"It’s fine, as long as it works on you." Daniel saw that she was trying to stay calm. He knew his teasing worked on her. He enjoyed watching her blush and shy away from him.

"Ahem. Daniel, we need an explanation from you," Rowan interrupted when he saw the two of them caught up in their own flirtatious world. He frowned, cutting through the atmosphere between them.

Daniel looked up and shot him an annoyed glance before replying casually, "What’s the hurry? Let’s eat first. My wife is hungry."

Chantelle wanted to say she wasn’t hungry, but before she could speak, her stomach growled loudly.

Daniel continued talking and joking with the others as if nothing had happened. Everyone followed along, eating, drinking, and socializing as usual.

None of them had come for the engagement itself. They were here to gain Daniel’s favor and use the event to network.

When Camille saw this, she wanted to cause a scene, but with the three Nelsen brothers holding her back, she stopped herself.

"Daniel clearly has no intention of getting engaged to you. If you make trouble now, he could have you thrown out immediately. You’ll only embarrass yourself," Oscar said coldly.

Camille felt completely wronged. She couldn’t understand why Daniel suddenly changed his attitude, or why her brothers, instead of supporting her, were scolding her and trying to hold her back.

"I’ll take you home first," Alexander said, putting on his sunglasses and accepting that he would have to act as her driver. He thought it was a pity that he might miss the rest of the drama.

"I’m not going home! I won’t let that woman, Chantelle, win!" Camille shouted, her eyes filled with hatred as she watched Daniel holding Chantelle by the waist and talking with the influential guests.

"Camille, please try to be reasonable. Our family plans to expand our business here. If we offend Daniel too badly, we’ll lose the entire domestic market," Rowan said, feeling annoyed when he heard her criticizing Chantelle.

Camille sneered, "So that’s why all of you just stood there and watched me get humiliated, and then turned around to curry favor with Daniel like obedient lap dogs?"

"I already told you. I’ll make Daniel explain everything today and apologize to you publicly, but only if you don’t cause a scene right now."

"Why should I stay silent? I am Camille Nelsen of the Nelsen family. Why should I endure such humiliation?" Camille was furious and made up her mind to seek her grandfather’s support.

Her grandfather was the only person in the world who really cared about her.

Rowan grabbed her arm and stopped her. "You brought this on yourself! When Daniel suddenly announced the engagement online, I warned you he didn’t really mean to marry you, but you still agreed!"

Camille glared at him. In her mind, she had done nothing wrong. The ones who were wrong were Daniel and Chantelle. They played her and made her look like a fool in front of everyone.

"Did you forget what Daniel said? He went to the Nelsen residence and told us he would hold a grand engagement party today. His only request was that no matter what happened, even if he called off the engagement, you were not allowed to cause trouble. It was written clearly in the agreement, and you signed it. Have you forgotten?"

Rowan looked at her with deep disappointment. When Daniel asked her to sign that agreement, Rowan had thought Daniel was being too cunning and had even wanted to punch him. But Camille defended Daniel and accused Rowan of trying to sabotage the engagement because he didn’t want her marriage to Daniel to cause the Nelsen family fortune to be divided.

She said whatever harsh words came to her mind.

Rowan finally realized that her gentle demeanor hid a deeply suspicious nature. She was afraid that her three brothers would drive her out of the family and take her share of the inheritance. That was why she always tried to please their grandfather.

Rowan now understood why their grandfather had always looked down on him and his two brothers.

"The contract you signed clearly stated that if you ruined this engagement party, you would pay a penalty of two hundred million dollars. If you have that much money, then go ahead and cause a scene." Rowan had already told Oscar about Camille’s true intentions, so Oscar no longer felt even a trace of sympathy for her.

To him, this foolish girl was a walking disaster. If she stayed with the Nelsen family any longer, she would eventually drag the entire family into trouble.

Ending the relationship now was the best choice.
