Chapter 234 - 230, Change of Plan at the Last Minute
CHAPTER 234: 230, CHANGE OF PLAN AT THE LAST MINUTE
Abigail Zimmerman was like a primer, igniting her curiosity and suspicion. Now, she suddenly changes her stance. But looking at her attitude, she doesn’t seem to be lying. There appears to be some unspeakable secret.
Previously, all hope was pinned on her, thinking that finding her would solve the mystery. Now it seems that another approach must be considered.
"What should we do now?" Titus Zane raised his eyes to seek Jon’s opinion, but Jon had already picked up his chopsticks. Though not very skilled, he was still trying hard to move the delicacies onto his plate.
"carry, this dish is best enjoyed hot. If it gets cold, it won’t taste good." Jon picked up a piece of pancake and then reached for the roasted duck, his gaze and thoughts entirely focused on the food in front of him, seemingly not hearing Titus Zane’s words.
"Jon!" Titus Zane’s voice was stern, raising the pitch to emphasize, "I’m talking about serious matters!"
"I know," Jon nodded, having placed a piece of roasted duck on the pancake, then he went for the sweet sauce, "but filling one’s stomach is more important than any serious matter; you need energy to get things done."
Titus Zane...
Turned his face away, looking out the window, his displeasure written all over his face.
Jon seemed very keen on local cuisine, finishing a plate of roast duck and continuing with others. Seeing that Titus Zane was just looking out the window, silent and not moving his chopsticks, Jon took a moment to say.
"Don’t worry, remember, my profession is a private detective. Since I was able to find Abigail Zimmerman, I can also find out about that little Nora." His words were meant to reassure Titus Zane. In truth, Jon’s reliability in handling affairs surpassed his own presence.
With a sudden change of heart from Abigail Zimmerman, Jon had to find another channel to investigate. After returning to the hotel, the two booked flight tickets out of Beijing.
Originally, Titus Zane planned to fly directly back to Paris, but there was a DNA sample waiting for her in T city.
Perhaps foreign friends are all keen on travel and gastronomy. After resting at the hotel for a while, Jon proposed going to nearby attractions for a walk and incidentally, to have another taste of authentic roast duck.
Initially, Titus Zane refused. With such events happening to her, she was not in the mood at all, but she couldn’t withstand Jon’s persistent cajoling, who even jokingly added that another miracle might happen.
Remembering what Jon said about the chance encounter with Abigail Zimmerman happening while they were strolling around the tourist spots, Titus Zane dressed casually and went out with him.
Autumn’s sun is always the most harsh. Titus Zane chose a casual outfit; a knitted sweater with jeans, flat shoes, her brown, wavy hair casually tied into a bun at the back, and large sunglasses covering half of her face.
Walking on Chang’an Street, seeing foreign couples visiting holding hands, Jon also grabbed Titus Zane’s hand.
"Hey, what are you doing?" Titus Zane exclaimed, instinctively wanting to break free.
"Shh..."
Jon’s other hand raised his index finger to his lips, the emotion behind his sunglasses unfathomable, but the upward turn of his lips suggested he was in good spirits.
"Keep it down, there are a lot of people watching."
Titus Zane...
While speechless, Jon had already pulled her hand and continued forward, like other couples, "I’ve always wanted to find a female companion, to hold hands with, to walk along Chang’an Street, to admire the scenery, to enjoy food together..."
Jon’s smile grew wider, his face full of longing. Seeing him like this, Titus Zane stopped struggling.
They continued along Chang’an Street, passing several attractions. Although it wasn’t a holiday, there was no shortage of tourists.
The crowd was bustling, groups here and there pointing at certain attractions, even wanting to take a photo with every monument.
