CHAPTER 235: 231

Titus Zane doesn’t have this hobby. Some attractions are meant for homage and commemoration.

Although she is also enthusiastic about travel, she prefers natural scenery, such as blue skies and white clouds... Once, she carried her easel, traveling across the most famous sights in a European country with Logan Ray.

Remembering Logan Ray, Titus Zane can’t help but reveal a bitter smile on her lips; it seems that men are indeed heartless.

Pulled into an authentic Peking duck restaurant by Jon, a culinary emblem of Capital City, tourists visiting the city all come here to taste the authentic flavor of Peking duck.

Domestic restaurants are different from those abroad, which are quiet. Loud conversations during meals are seldom heard, and any occasional talking is a whispered chatter behind cupped hands.

It’s different in this country; wherever people gather, there will be loud discussions. Just having followed the waiter to the second floor, an ear-piercing female voice could be heard from afar.

"Honey, let’s have another duck, it’s so delicious, I can eat half more!" A typical nouveau riche foodie.

Titus Zane slightly furrowed her brows, feeling that this voice sounded somewhat familiar. She slightly pushed up the aviator glasses resting on the bridge of her nose to get a clearer view of the woman. Just one glance, and Titus Zane was startled, grabbing Jon’s wrist and turning to head downstairs.

It was Colt Thornton, with his wife, Lucy Zimmerman, and a chubby little boy sitting beside them, presumably their son.

"Carry, what’s wrong? We haven’t even eaten yet?"

Being forcibly dragged towards the stairs by Titus Zane, Jon complained in confusion.

"I’ve run into a client of mine," Titus Zane said with a lowered voice, but couldn’t hide the panic inside her. Jon instinctively looked back over his shoulder, but was restrained by Titus Zane’s hushed voice, "Don’t look back, he’s looking in our direction!"

"It’s fine, he doesn’t know me." Jon still maintained his carefree demeanor, being in good terms with Lucy, he of course knew about Titus Zane’s profession.

Colt Thornton just happened to look up and saw that familiar figure by the stairs, pausing for a moment with a flash of danger in his eyes, and he put down his chopsticks ready to stand up.

"Husband, where are you off to?"

Lucy Zimmerman was busy wrapping duck for the child, she looked up puzzled at him.

Colt Thornton had never dared to tell his wife the truth about the failed cooperation with M.O, afraid of not being forgiven by his wife for such a huge loss caused by his lust, and he dared not mention the figure he just saw who seemed like the ringleader behind his company’s loss. He smiled and said, "I’m going to see when they can serve the next plate of duck."

"Ey, just sit down!" Lucy Zimmerman grabbed Colt Thornton’s arm, pressing him back into the chair, "We’re paying customers, why do we need to check personally? Just ask the waiter!"

As she spoke, Lucy Zimmerman called out loudly, "Waiter! Waiter!"

Stepping out of the duck restaurant, Titus Zane’s heart continued to race nonstop.

People like her and those like Xiao Man were different; when taking business, they needed to show their faces. And those clients they had interacted with, no matter how slow or dim-witted, eventually come to a delayed realization of the reason behind their company’s failed cooperation.

So, for safety, Lucy had instructed them: those who appear in public as front-runners should not enter places crowded with people casually. If they really want to go somewhere for fun, it would be best to disguise themselves to avoid being recognized by clients and causing trouble for themselves.

For three years, Titus Zane had been conscientious; after completing a job, she would return to Paris, and stay alone in the house she once shared with Logan Ray, looking at her past paintings, occasionally picking up the brush to paint a few strokes to pass the time.

She has always had a dream: once she has saved enough money for retirement, she would retreat, find a small town, and buy a house to quietly spend the rest of her life.
