CHAPTER 643: 639, SWEET EXTRA (9)
Titus Zane finally got pregnant. At the end of this beautiful summer and beginning of autumn, she had her check-up at the hospital which showed she was six weeks along. On the weekend, Nathan Moore invited a few brothers over to celebrate his upcoming promotion to daddy.
Felix Shaw and his wife were the first to arrive, thoughtfully bringing many nutritional supplements for pregnant women. Mia Foster was a few years younger than Titus Zane and had originally planned to have children later to enjoy more time as a couple. But seeing the way Nathan Moore pampered Titus as if she were an empress, Mia instantly turned her head to look at Felix Shaw, "Felix, I want to have a baby too."
Felix Shaw pulled his wife closer to him and said, "Alright, I’ll make an extra effort when we get home tonight."
When Evander Lancaster arrived, he brought Sophia Hamilton with him, but the two seemed to have had a tiff. As he bent down to help Sophia take off her shoes, she pushed him away, looking annoyed.
Sophia Hamilton’s belly was already sticking out prominently, yet Evander Lancaster’s family was still unwilling to accept the situation. For a single woman, being pregnant before marriage came with considerable pressure.
Fortunately, she was Nathan Moore’s secretary, and with the CEO’s protection at the company, her colleagues dared not talk behind her back.
Nicholas Croft was the last to arrive. He had only recently flown back to the country and since his return, there had been no sign of Sophie Foster. Instead, there was a new face by his side.
A woman with standard features that seemed surgically enhanced; it was said her name was Genevieve Croft.
This Genevieve Croft was somewhat haughty; Titus had seen her once before during a welcoming party set by Nicholas Croft. She had a cold expression and didn’t greet anyone. She was also unexpectedly capricious. When the brothers were happily chatting, she proposed to leave; seeing that Nicholas Croft made no move, she got up to leave by herself. With no other choice, Nicholas Croft had to put down his glass and leave with her.
Nicholas Croft’s indulgence towards this Genevieve Croft was something Titus Zane could not understand because once he had loved Sophie Foster so much... Later, she asked Nathan Moore about Sophie Foster’s whereabouts. Nathan’s expression grew solemn as he explained that Sophie was seriously injured in a car accident. The Hargrave Family took her back but failed to provide timely treatment, missing the optimal window for recovery, so after lying in the hospital for a few months, she had...
The sudden death of Sophie Foster left Titus Zane grieving for several days. Although they hadn’t interacted much, Sophie’s warmth and playfulness made it seem as though she was still there talking with them just yesterday—and she was so young. Nathan Moore told her that sometimes, death is also a form of rebirth.
This time, Nicholas Croft had brought Genevieve Croft along as well. She was a woman in her twenties, still exhibiting a cold demeanor, her face taut as if the whole world owed her something.
She entered the villa with Nicholas Croft and stood at the doorway, not bothering to change shoes. After changing his own shoes, Nicholas Croft patiently helped her swap footwear, then held her hand and spoke softly as they walked in, "Titus sister also has a baby in her belly. If you’d like, you can touch it and listen to it..."
Upon hearing Nicholas Croft’s words, Genevieve Croft’s icy face finally reacted, halting her steps to look at him, "Really? Can I?"
"Yes," Nicholas Croft softened his tone, "just ask Titus sister, she will agree."
Titus Zane was not a capricious woman, but she truly didn’t quite like this Genevieve Croft. Not only because she replaced the affection Nicholas Croft had for Sophie Foster, but also her constant forbidding aura.
Noticing Titus Zane’s resistance, Nathan Moore gently patted her shoulder and comforted her in a soft voice, "Darling, let Genevieve touch it. She really likes little babies and won’t hurt her."
Encouraged by Nathan Moore, Titus Zane couldn’t refuse. In the room, Genevieve Croft pressed her ear to Titus’s belly. Even though there was nothing to hear yet, her cold face finally cracked a slight smile.
"Titus sister, I want to be the baby’s godmother..."
As Genevieve Croft spoke, Titus Zane was suddenly taken aback. That familiar voice, it sounded like... Sophie Foster.
The following summer, Titus Zane gave birth to a baby. It was a boy, not fulfilling Nathan Moore’s wish for a girl.
Although worried that the boy’s intelligence might follow his mother’s, he was still the flesh and blood of his own lineage. When the baby was carried out of the delivery room, Nathan Moore took him into his arms immediately, stubbornly refusing to let the elated grandfather Samuel Zane hold his great-grandson even after several attempts.
