CHAPTER 739: 735, FIRST WIPE YOUR OWN ASS CLEAN BEFORE MEDDLING IN OTHER PEOPLE’S BUSINESS
"What are we talking about?" Oliver Shaw took a drag of his cigarette, lifted his eyes, and glanced sideways at his son. He had to admit, Felix Shaw had completely inherited his father’s genes. Despite being over fifty, the man still had a strong and youthful body with not a hint of a belly; his face bore only a trace of fine lines at the corners of his eyes, showing no other signs of aging.
Although he was a few years older than his mother, if the two stood together, anyone would think they were siblings.
Felix took another drag of his cigarette and exhaled a heavy cloud of smoke. In the sofa, the two similarly looking men sat side by side, facing each other with slightly squinted eyes and similarly stern expressions.
"Dad, Mom says you have a woman on the side. Whether it’s true or not, I hope you can cut it off. Leaving aside this family, for me and Mia’s future, you shouldn’t have any ties with that woman."
"Hmph," Oliver Shaw scoffed coldly, "Have you sorted out that little celebrity’s issue? Just like your mother, always chasing shadows! You better clean up your own mess before meddling in others, or you’ll see what happens when Mia Foster finds out!"
Oliver Shaw took another puff of his cigarette, pressed the half-smoked cigarette into the ashtray, glanced disdainfully at his son, then walked toward his study.
Felix leaned back in the sofa, slowly blowing out smoke, realizing his father wouldn’t see reason until it’s too late.
Since he refused to admit it, Felix could only think of another way.
Ever since Melody Zachary suspected her husband had a mistress, she started to demand separate bedrooms, forcing Oliver Shaw to move to the guest room and banning him from their bedroom.
The next day, Felix officially started his work at the company. At noon, he called Mia Foster, not because he missed her after a few days, but because he wanted someone’s company when he felt down.
Although Mia Foster’s pride and confidence sometimes annoyed him, he found her intelligent company quite comforting if they just sat down as friends to chat.
Felix asked Mia what she wanted for lunch. Mia had a lot of work unfinished, so she arranged to meet Felix at a restaurant near the company. It was a new Cantonese restaurant with distinctive dishes, good taste, and was quite popular. She had visited a few times herself.
She made a reservation over the phone in advance, and only when Felix arrived downstairs of the company did Mia stop her work, grabbed her purse, and walked out of the office.
The Cantonese restaurant wasn’t far from the company. Felix parked the car in front of the company building, and they walked to the restaurant.
During lunchtime, the restaurant was almost full. The space wasn’t very large and only had open seating. They were led to their pre-booked seats by a server. They picked up the menus and started browsing.
At the neighboring booth, the dishes had already been served. A mother and daughter sat in front of the window. The girl ate her food while saying, "Mom, why don’t you call Dad?"
"Your dad is busy, he doesn’t have time to come over." The woman picked up some food with her chopsticks and put it in the girl’s bowl, her smile was tender, but her slightly raised eyebrow looked quite sharp.
"He still has to eat lunch no matter how busy," the girl persisted, "Last week, Dad promised Seraphina that he would have lunch with her. Mom, please call Dad..."
Unable to withstand her daughter’s pleading, Vanessa Armstrong reluctantly took out her phone.
At the neighboring booth, Mia Foster was still deeply engaged in choosing dishes with Felix, completely oblivious to the mother and daughter.
After ordering several specialty dishes, Mia handed back the menu to the server. Meanwhile, next door, Vanessa Armstrong was on her phone talking to someone.
