Mr. Fairchild's Rose: She is Wild and Proud
Chapter 32: Do You Have Someone You Like?
CHAPTER 32: CHAPTER 32: DO YOU HAVE SOMEONE YOU LIKE?
"Say ’um’ one more time, let me see?"
The icy aura around Julian Fairchild surged again, making the previous moment of softness seem like an illusion.
Her phone still displayed the chat with Henry Hughes, and Maeve Lane glanced at Julian with a good mood and opened her phone’s notepad—
[Day 11 of Pursuing Julian Fairchild]
Note: Julian Fairchild likes smart people.
...
As usual, the student council of Aurelia University organizes a large group outing after the freshman meet-and-greet.
This time, the outing was held at Palova, which is near Aurelia University.
Although Maeve is a local of Aurelia, she hasn’t tried much of activities like hiking.
Palova is a constant stream of visitors.
The fiery red maple forest was like a vividly colored oil painting, breathtakingly beautiful, making Maeve’s cheeks slightly flush; her fair skin, and soft waist made her a striking presence among this group of university students.
Junior year is the time for handing over positions, and the student council president will be elected next semester, so Julian Fairchild’s term won’t last much longer. This time he joined the large group outing, unable to resist everyone’s relentless persuasion.
"Julian, why didn’t your friend come?" Maeve walked beside Julian, raising her delicate eyebrows, "Where’s Henry Hughes?"
They had been hiking for a while, but Julian seemed very at ease and answered concisely, "He has something going on at home."
"Oh," Maeve replied, pausing for two seconds before leaning in to ask him, "Do you... have someone you like?"
Subtext: Why is it so hard to pursue you...
The handsome man paused for a second and answered decisively, "No."
No.
Hearing this answer, Maeve didn’t know whether to be happy or feel something else.
After pursuing him for so long, Julian Fairchild still had no feelings for her.
It’s impossible not to feel frustrated, especially since Maeve, as she often said herself, had never failed before.
She glanced up at his exquisite profile.
Julian Fairchild had a rugged and strong look, and when he wasn’t speaking, he seemed extremely serious and aloof. His gaze was indifferent, and even when in a good mood, his smile never reached his eyes.
But even so, girls would still blush and have heart palpitations from one of his faint glances.
Maeve half-joked, half-tested him: "So, do you think if I keep pursuing you, will there be a chance?"
The girl’s voice sounded in his ear, though Maeve had asked similar questions many times before.
"No."
The answer was expected, and Maeve stayed silent for a moment, then resumed as normal: "What are we having for lunch today?"
"There’s a place to eat near the top."
The group finally reached the summit just before noon.
The view here was excellent, with a huge natural viewing platform and a telescope on top.
Maeve went over, adjusted it, and looked around.
After she finished playing, she realized she had forgotten about Julian Fairchild.
Glancing around, she didn’t see that tall figure, so she decided to give Julian a WeChat call. Given her "persistent" efforts, Julian, although unwilling, had begrudgingly added her on WeChat.
In exchange for her not appearing in front of him for the entire morning.
Just as Maeve took out her phone, her shoulder was bumped hard.
Her newly bought phone was immediately knocked out of her hand and shattered into pieces.
"Ah, sorry about that," a sarcastically playful voice came from behind Maeve.
Maeve turned around.
Three girls stood in front of her, with mocking expressions on their faces.
