Mr. Fairchild's Rose: She is Wild and Proud
Chapter 45: He’s Never Been So Unconfident
CHAPTER 45: CHAPTER 45: HE’S NEVER BEEN SO UNCONFIDENT
Julian Fairchild’s gaze flickered, with hidden waves beneath his calm tone, "What do you mean?"
"I just heard it too." Henry Hughes hesitated, "Maybe it’s just rumors, but I feel like she might be giving up."
When he realized what Maeve Lane’s actions signified, he found himself in a dilemma.
One was his good brother, and the other one was... the girl he liked.
Now, he finally understood his feelings for Maeve Lane.
But he also knew very well that Maeve Lane saw him as nothing more than a friend, perhaps even... befriending him was because of Julian Fairchild.
So, after much hesitation, he still wanted to remind Julian Fairchild. In the eyes of others, Julian seemed to even dislike Maeve Lane slightly, but only those who truly understood him knew that Julian’s attitude towards Maeve was actually very conflicted.
Only when Maeve held special meaning to him would he exhibit such behavior.
Henry Hughes broke the silence in the room, "She never pursues anyone for more than thirty days, maybe she won’t appear in front of you anymore after this."
Even without Henry explaining further, Julian Fairchild understood well that Maeve Lane was known for her coldness and passion alike.
Just like what she said in class—
[Missing the past is understandable, but clinging to it is the real taboo.]
Julian Fairchild’s black eyes gathered a frost, "That’s for the best."
He should have been happy, but instead, an unnamable fire rose in his heart.
Seeing this, Henry Hughes didn’t say more but secretly felt "shamefully" relieved.
After all... if Maeve were to choose between him and Julian Fairchild, he wouldn’t be surprised if she chose Julian without any hesitation.
He had never felt so lacking in confidence in his life.
...
Aurelia University’s indoor basketball court.
A group of energetic freshmen stood in front of the spectators’ section.
A girl with long hair and heavy makeup whispered to the person next to her, "Who do you want to learn from?"
"I want to learn with Senior Hughes! He’s so handsome, like a model on TV."
She nudged the long-haired girl, "Sophie Forrest, who do you want to learn from?"
"Who else, besides Senior Hughes, it has to be Fairchild." Sophie had made an effort for this meeting, her red nail polish was perfect, she had already tested it, this color suited her skin tone perfectly, "This time I must learn from Fairchild for a week."
Julian Fairchild held many positions at the school, student council president and basketball club president were just two of them.
Even though he was busy, he always managed to arrange everything in an orderly manner.
With the basketball club’s recruitment finished, as president and vice president, Julian Fairchild and Henry Hughes would personally teach for a week, as was tradition.
Twenty people were recruited this time, exactly ten for each.
Though it was called teaching, most of that week would be basic and physical training.
The crowd discussed and debated who to choose as Julian Fairchild stood in front of the microphone, lightly tapping the basketball with his long fingers.
The noisy room fell silent instantly.
Sophie Forrest looked at the deep, handsome man on the stage, expressing intense admiration.
She must choose him!
Everyone’s attention was on their young and handsome president.
But his next words shattered many dreams, "For this grouping, we will use a lottery draw system, everyone come up and draw lots now."
Sighs filled the room one after another, and Henry Hughes chuckled, jokingly saying, "If they really had to choose, wouldn’t they fight over you?"
"You’re just as charming as ever, President Fairchild, even after a few days."
