Mr. Fairchild's Rose: She is Wild and Proud
Chapter 46: Didn’t Spare Julian Fairchild a Glance
CHAPTER 46: CHAPTER 46: DIDN’T SPARE JULIAN FAIRCHILD A GLANCE
Julian Fairchild’s hand, gripping the basketball, was a bit stiff.
Most of the new students were busy drawing lots, and not many people noticed a girl in a basketball jersey walking out from the right side of the court, her long hair flowing and a black baseball cap pulled low.
Maeve Lane pressed the brim of her cap down, nonchalantly saying, "Long time no see."
Julian Fairchild stared at her for a while, but eventually looked away without saying a word.
The girl seemed accustomed to his attitude, turned around and began talking to Henry Hughes, "You two seem really busy, good thing I only joined one club."
Henry Hughes chuckled and explained, "We’re just busy at the start. By junior year, a lot of things have to be handed over. Once that’s done, there won’t be much left."
"Maybe," Maeve conceded noncommittally. She joined the student council on a whim, preferring to do more liberating things than engage in such social interactions. "These are this year’s new students, right?"
"Yeah."
They exchanged a few words, with only Maeve and Henry’s voices throughout the conversation.
Julian Fairchild’s long arms draped over the railing, his dark eyes, reminiscent of a cold lake, lowered in thought.
A bottle of mineral water appeared before him.
The man raised his eyes to meet Maeve Lane’s light-colored gaze.
Maeve held an unopened bottle of mineral water, a smirk tugging at her lips, "Want a drink?"
The handsome man didn’t react.
At this moment, the lot-drawing process was coming to a close, and many people began whispering about Maeve Lane and Julian Fairchild.
"Isn’t that Maeve Lane? In the same year as us, from Finance Class 1?"
"It’s her, alright. She really has that vixen look, chasing after people all the way here, just shameless."
"I heard she changed boyfriends several times already. What kind of woman does that?"
Pairs of jealous eyes fixed on Maeve Lane, one pair particularly filled with rage.
"How dare she? Is Fairchild even someone she can mess with?" Sophie Forrest wished she could immediately kick Maeve out!
"Sophie, aren’t you in the same class as Maeve?"
She sneered, "Hah, you think I want to be in the same class as her? Even seeing her one more time is a stain on my eyes."
She watched Maeve, Julian Fairchild, and Henry Hughes standing together, thinking to herself—
Why hasn’t Fairchild rejected her water yet!
He should totally humiliate her!
This Maeve Lane, why does she always have to oppose her? Last time it was Drake Draper from the Computer Science Department, now it’s Julian Fairchild! Every time she fancies someone, Maeve has to steal them away. Is she always targeting her!
This malicious woman!
The atmosphere was a bit tense.
Henry Hughes noticed a look of impatience on Maeve’s face and tried to smooth things over, reaching for her water, "This water is..."
A fresh chill wafted over, and in the next second, the water in Maeve’s hand was gone.
Julian Fairchild, as if nothing had happened, calmly opened the bottle cap and took a sip.
This scene nearly made Sophie Forrest’s eyes pop out!
Others who were waiting to see Maeve’s embarrassment now had quite the dramatic expressions on their faces.
Fairchild not only accepted the water, but also "snatched" it from Senior Hughes!
Is the water really that good?!
Henry Hughes was still frozen in the act of reaching for the water.
"Snapped out of it yet?" Maeve laughed, tapping Henry’s hand, lazily saying, "Then I’ll take off, you guys keep busy. See you later."
"...See you later," Henry replied.
She didn’t expect Julian Fairchild to say anything like see you later, so she didn’t even glance at Julian.
