CHAPTER 51: CHAPTER 51: HE NO LONGER HIDES HIS FEELINGS

It’s no wonder they think that way.

Maeve Lane has been subjected to constant criticism since she entered the school.

But everyone only dares to talk in private. If they really say it in front of Maeve Lane...

Heh, that’s like asking for trouble.

With her reputation for beauty, Maeve Lane’s "notorious reputation" has even spread to the neighboring school.

Lazy and lounging like a dozing cat one second, fiercely pinning someone to the ground and beating them the next.

Plus, Maeve Lane doesn’t discriminate between genders. If a boy blindly provokes her, she’ll beat him till he cries for his parents. If a girl tries to provoke her, she’ll hit them just the same.

Like a tyrant.

Now, if Maeve Lane joins the team and someone nearby accidentally spills the beans about what they’ve said about her! That’d be doom!

"I can’t make that decision," Henry Hughes glanced at Julian Fairchild, "You should ask him."

Julian Fairchild was practicing three-point shots on the side.

He didn’t miss the commotion, his voice was deep and strong, "No can do."

Maeve Lane replied without much emotion, "Oh, why not?"

"It’s the rules."

Maeve Lane: "Rules are made by people."

Julian Fairchild stopped his shooting motion, looked down at her, "And why do you think I’d change the rules for you?"

Their gazes locked in mid-air for a few seconds, neither willing to back down.

"Oh." Maeve Lane pouted, "Then if I learn on the side, it shouldn’t bother you, right?"

Julian Fairchild frowned, seemingly not understanding her intention.

But Maeve Lane wasn’t planning to seek his approval. She angled her gaze toward Henry Hughes, a faint curve forming at the corner of her mouth, "Henry Hughes, can I learn with you?"

Henry Hughes was just about to speak.

Julian Fairchild cut him off, "He doesn’t have time to teach you."

Ignoring Julian Fairchild, Henry Hughes told Maeve Lane, "Sure, you can."

"Henry Hughes," Julian’s face was cold and stern, "Is this how you act as vice president?"

"I’ll teach the people in the club first, then Maeve Lane." Henry Hughes replied decisively, "It’s using my own time; it won’t trouble you, President Fairchild."

Julian Fairchild’s expression darkened as if about to drip water.

Maeve Lane saw the two were about to fight, which was contrary to her reason for coming.

She stepped between the two, "Alright, stop wasting time. Let’s go train."

Henry Hughes glanced at Maeve Lane in front of him, grabbed the basketball beside him, and led her to another hoop to train.

After a few steps, Maeve Lane realized she forgot to give water to Julian Fairchild.

She considered turning back but then remembered another girl saying Julian had tossed her water into the trash can yesterday.

At least before he would drink a few sips, now it’s getting excessive.

Since he’s still angry today, he probably wouldn’t want it anyway; better not waste effort and water.

Maeve Lane thought it through and nudged her half-turned body back.

She patted Henry Hughes’s arm beside her, "Want some water?"

Henry Hughes paused for a moment, then instinctively glanced at... Julian Fairchild, who was watching them.

He noticed Julian Fairchild’s gaze shifted slightly when he saw the scene.

Henry Hughes smirked internally and took the bottle, "Thanks."

Maeve Lane curled her lips into a faint smile.

Looking at Maeve Lane’s stunning profile, Henry Hughes suddenly made a decision.

"What’s up?" Maeve Lane noticed Henry Hughes’s gaze, "Why are you staring at me?"

"Because you’re beautiful." Henry Hughes didn’t hide his feelings anymore, "If my future girlfriend looks half as good as you, I’d be satisfied."
