CHAPTER 110: CHAPTER 109: NOT EVEN LETTING THE CHANCE TO APPLY MEDICINE SLIP BY
"Why are we getting on the bed?"
"How else am I supposed to help you apply the ointment?"
Ethan Grant said, handing the ointment from his palm to Serena Sullivan.
Serena looked at the burn ointment, puzzled, as she watched him slowly lie down on the bed.
He clearly has the ointment, why doesn’t he apply it himself!
Or maybe he intended to apply it himself!
As she passed through the hallway, the wheelchair and the floor made unavoidable noise, and his bedroom door was open.
Serena dared not think further; her heart was already in turmoil when Ethan lunged at her.
"Bear with it! It might hurt a bit!"
Serena said softly.
The ointment was cooling, and it didn’t hurt as much on the wound, especially since Ethan wasn’t someone who feared pain.
But when Serena’s fingers touched the blistered wound, he let out a hiss.
Serena shuddered, "Does it hurt a lot?"
"Yeah!" Ethan instinctively followed her lead, "It hurts a lot!"
It really hurt, especially after seeing Claire Sullivan throw such scalding water at her, he even had thoughts of murder.
Why didn’t he push Claire aside, preventing the water from splashing on him!
Because he had no time to choose.
Even if he pushed Claire away, some water from the cup might still hit Serena.
Even a single drop, he wouldn’t allow it.
He wanted to protect her completely intact.
A sudden breeze blew over his back, soft and light, like a feather gently brushing across Ethan’s heart.
The "whoosh" sound, Ethan realized, was Serena blowing on his back, the soft sensation quickly spreading all over, the pain suddenly replaced by her tenderness, or rather, no matter how painful, as long as she was there, it felt like nothing.
"Come a little closer."
The inside of the back near the bed also had an injury that Serena couldn’t reach.
"Okay."
Ethan responded, obediently following Serena’s arrangement as he lay there. Serena was very careful, and after quite some time, she managed to tend to Ethan’s wound.
The phone on the bed rang again, instantly disrupting the room’s peace.
Serena snapped back to reality, seeing that she had almost finished applying the ointment on Ethan’s back. She put the ointment away and said, "Alright, you can’t get it wet for the next few days!"
After hanging up the phone, Ethan got up, his expression not looking very good.
This group of people had no sense of timing; why make so many calls now!
Serena watched Ethan in confusion, wondering if it hurt a lot.
"Um, you still need to apply this ointment every day."
After saying this, Ethan’s expression softened a bit. He moved closer to Serena, "You just can’t wait to touch me, using the excuse of applying ointment!"
The words were ambiguous, and Serena suddenly realized she’d set a trap for herself with her earlier comment.
"No!"
She hurriedly denied, retreating, but Ethan got off the bed first, pulling her wheelchair back and kneeling before her on one knee.
His gaze first fell on her legs, then slowly moved to the face he’d seen so many times in his dreams.
"I’m giving you a chance."
He said earnestly, with a slight smile appearing at the corner of his mouth as he finished speaking.
He hadn’t smiled much since coming back; this smile, who knows how many women it could captivate, and unbeknownst to him, it pierced Serena’s heart, causing the wounds deep inside her to crack open with a searing pain.
