CHAPTER 154: CHAPTER 153: "OBEDIENT," MY FOOT

She doesn’t like troubling others and prefers to do things herself, no matter how tiring the process may be.

Ethan Grant entered unexpectedly, and she didn’t want to stay with him for long. Using the excuse of "looking for the maid," she hoped he would take the hint and leave.

Ethan Grant didn’t leave; instead, he approached the bedside, standing there with a cool gaze directed at Serena Sullivan.

Being stared at by Ethan Grant, Serena’s hands gradually clenched into fists beneath the blanket, and she smiled slightly.

"Mr. Grant, do you want to help me get dressed?"

She asked in a disdainful tone, her eyes filled with coldness and a hidden resentment that pierced Ethan Grant.

Ethan maintained his calm demeanor, leaning in as his hand slowly descended. Serena’s body tensed even more than the last time he had tried to embrace her, and her face turned icy cold in that instant. "Ethan Grant, get out!"

She didn’t want him to touch her and didn’t want him to see her clearly.

"Didn’t you ask me to help you get dressed?"

Ignoring her anger, Ethan Grant softened his voice and said, as his hand landed on the blanket, pulling it aside, Serena quickly grabbed his wrist.

"Ethan Grant, what exactly do you want to do?" She asked sternly, her eyes reddening.

"Helping you get dressed."

Ethan Grant repeated, "No need!"

She used all her strength to pull Ethan’s hand away, her eyes turning bright red as she stared intensely at him.

A person who’s become useless fears most that others will see their flaws, especially someone she once loved deeply, willing to sacrifice anything, even her life.

"All the maids have gone downstairs."

Ethan Grant refused to let go, patiently explaining, "I can help you."

"Be good!"

Hearing this word made Serena want to laugh; in front of him, she’s been good enough, and he was well aware.

When he pursued her, he said for her to be his woman, and she did.

When he didn’t want her, he told her to leave, and she left!

Now, he wants her to let go, help her get dressed! Fine, she would listen to him.

He’s seen every part of her.

Serena didn’t have the energy to resist Ethan any longer. She lay back on the bed, staring wide-eyed at the ceiling.

After her legs stopped functioning, it was initially Finn Chandler or Anna who took care of her daily needs. When someone becomes utterly helpless, even dressing requires relying on others, the feeling is excruciating, worse than death.

Who wants to be rendered useless? Yet, she is someone who needs to depend on others; Sean Lockwood and Mrs. Zimmerman were not wrong.

"Tomorrow you need to go to the hospital for check-ups, right? I’ll accompany you."

While carefully dressing her, Ethan Grant suddenly spoke. His cold tone carried a touch of gentleness, but it didn’t stir any emotions within Serena.

Serena didn’t reply; perhaps because she had been staring at one spot for a long time, the soreness in her eyes gradually faded, and she didn’t feel like crying anymore.

A long dress, Ethan took a long time helping her put it on. He was gentle and meticulous, worried it might be uncomfortable for Serena, and kept adjusting it repeatedly.

"Is it done?"

Serena didn’t share his patience; he was slower at dressing her than she was herself.

"Mm!"

Ethan still checked the buttons on the front of the dress, asking, "Do you want to take a bath?"

Serena looked at him. Could it be that after dressing her, he’d want to give her a bath and carry her to the bathroom?

"Or let’s go to the restroom first!"
