CHAPTER 185: CHAPTER 184: MARRYING YOU, I AM VERY CONTENT
"Don’t worry, I’ll take care of Serena."
Joel Quinn said, picking up the food and putting it into his mouth. The meat was tender, and a vision of a pale, radiant neck appeared before his eyes.
His Adam’s apple moved as he savored the delicacy.
"Serena doesn’t like you and Zoe."
Upon hearing Joel Quinn offer to take care of Serena despite past grievances, Claire Sullivan spoke softly, both angry and helpless about Serena.
"This child wasn’t like this before."
Claire Sullivan recalled the once obedient Serena who cared for her and felt extremely distressed.
She took over The Sullivan Corporation, often drinking at social events, and returned home with a headache, lying on the sofa, always with Serena coming downstairs to care for her.
When she met Joel Quinn, she hesitated, unsure how to tell Serena, but Serena suggested she pursue her own happiness.
How did such a good, obedient daughter disappear!
She still remembers when Serena plagiarized Zoe and Ruth Hale reported it, when Serena returned home and slapped Zoe.
She still remembers four years ago when Serena pushed Zoe down the stairs and then falsely accused Joel Quinn of having wronged her, making her so angry that she had no regard for the late hour, telling her to leave The Sullivan Residence, to leave Solaria.
"Ah!"
Reflecting on these memories, Claire Sullivan sighed deeply, feeling she and Serena could never go back.
"Don’t worry, she’ll understand your intentions." Joel Quinn put down his chopsticks and embraced the tearful Claire Sullivan.
Being held by someone, Claire Sullivan cried even more sorrowfully.
"She’s my only daughter, and I want her to live well. I don’t disagree with her being with Ethan Grant, but The Grant Family doesn’t like her."
Back then, The Grant Family tried to bribe them with money; neither Serena nor she accepted.
Despite the company’s difficulties, she wouldn’t sell her daughter.
"Why is she so stubborn."
Claire Sullivan said, frustrated and tearful.
Her previous opposition to Serena and Ethan Grant’s relationship had been futile.
Now, given Serena’s situation, she even thought it would be good if Ethan Grant could take care of Serena for a lifetime.
Joel Quinn had seen this change of heart in the hospital room.
"Stop crying." Joel Quinn wiped her tears with a tissue, "Your daughter is like mine."
"In the future, while she’s at The Sullivan Corporation, I’ll help you keep an eye on her."
Claire Sullivan took the tissue from him and wiped her tears, not noticing Joel Quinn’s smile as he finished speaking.
"Joel, marrying you makes me very satisfied." Claire Sullivan said sincerely as she emerged from Joel Quinn’s embrace after crying.
Others said Joel Quinn was beneath her, even if her reputation wasn’t very good.
But she believed love transcended status, and supporting Joel Quinn to establish himself firmly at The Sullivan Corporation and becoming a stable and comfortable housewife was indeed good.
The ringing of the phone interrupted their conversation.
Joel Quinn glanced at the phone and hung up. When it rang again after a while, Claire Sullivan looked at him curiously.
"Someone from the company." Joel Quinn said with a smile, not understanding why Ruth Hale was calling him at this moment.
"There must be something important; you should answer it first."
Claire Sullivan said softly.
Seeing the phone still vibrating, Joel Quinn smiled at Claire Sullivan, got up, and went to the side to answer the call.
"I told you not to disturb me after work."
"What did you say."
Hearing Ruth Hale’s words on the other end, Joel Quinn asked in shock.
