Mr. Grant Treats Me Like a Treasure
Chapter 216 - 215: Turns Out No One Wants Her
CHAPTER 216: CHAPTER 215: TURNS OUT NO ONE WANTS HER
After saying these words, Ethan bent down and said to the distracted Serena Sullivan, "Let’s go home."
"Alright!"
Serena lightly responded with a word, and as she walked past, her gaze indifferently drifted over Claire Sullivan.
She seemed cold, and it wasn’t until Claire saw through everything and looked back on Serena’s glance at this moment that she realized just how deeply she had hurt her own daughter!
All the way back, Ethan tried to find topics to chat about with Serena, but Serena either seemed lost in thought or casually replied "Hmm," and if asked, she likely wouldn’t know what Ethan had said.
Back at Willow Yarrow, Serena said she was tired and wanted to go to her room to rest.
It was only noon; she was not tired but deeply hurt and self-doubtful to the extreme because of Claire’s words.
Seeing her like this, Ethan was very worried. After returning to the living room, he called Anna over.
"Tell me exactly what happened with The Sullivan Family, what Claire Sullivan said, every detail."
Anna came forward and handed over her phone.
When Claire appeared and lost her temper at Serena, Anna felt something was off, so she immediately pressed the record button on her phone.
The phone was placed on the coffee table, and Ethan played it and leaned back on the sofa to listen to the sound coming from it.
On the phone earlier, Anna had mentioned some things, but truly listening again made Ethan’s heart clench with pain for Serena.
From the phone:
As soon as Claire appeared, she told Serena to get out of The Sullivan Family;
Claire cursed her as vicious;
Claire said she regretted having given birth to her, and also said Serena’s biological father didn’t want her either.
These words of anger, not only hurt Serena but pained Ethan deeply as well.
He knew Serena cared deeply for Claire; she had worked so hard in her studies to learn skills early on, just to help Claire.
In her heart, the biological father she had never met was an even bigger "hero," always hoping that one day her father would suddenly return and say that he always thought of her.
When someone is immersed in a dream and feels that is everything, Claire’s words shattered her dream into tiny fragments.
Her mother, her biological father, realized that neither of them wanted her!
And living, to them, she was redundant!
The pain swiftly followed these thoughts and crept deep into Ethan’s heart; he could no longer bear to listen, reaching out forcefully to stop the phone.
The innate fierce anger emerged again, but as he approached Serena’s room and reached the door, the anger was suppressed, and sadness subtly seeped from his eyes.
He wanted to go in and comfort Serena but remembered that to Serena, he too had once been someone who didn’t want her.
The raised hand ultimately did not fall, Ethan turned away, took out a cigarette from his pocket. He lit it, took a sharp and quick drag, then walked to the window in the living room.
When he had smoked halfway, he suddenly thought of something, took out his phone, and dialed a number.
"Give me Anna Morgan’s number."
He was calling Carter Lockwood.
On the other side, Carter heard Ethan’s request and coldly replied immediately, "Why do you need her number! I don’t have it!"
