Mr. Grant Treats Me Like a Treasure
Chapter 223 - 222: I Have Only One Daughter
CHAPTER 223: CHAPTER 222: I HAVE ONLY ONE DAUGHTER
Claire Sullivan’s tone was icy cold, devoid of any warmth. The surrounding reporters, being very perceptive, sensed that the relationship between Serena Sullivan and Claire Sullivan had deteriorated to the extreme.
"Mrs. Quinn, which daughter are you supporting this time?"
The reporter asking this question aimed to put Claire Sullivan in a difficult position.
As Claire Sullivan prepared to answer, she looked up ahead and saw Ethan Grant helping Serena Sullivan out of the car.
Zoe Quinn saw it too.
Ethan Grant gently placed her in a wheelchair, his profile bathed in sunlight appeared unbelievably tender.
Such a side of Ethan, Zoe had only seen around Serena. She watched closely, clenched her fists, and turned to the dazed Claire Sullivan, calling out.
"Mom."
"Sister is here, you don’t need to worry about me."
Zoe’s thoughtfulness brought Claire back to her senses.
How could her biological daughter be as good as Zoe?
Ever since the big argument at The Sullivan Residence with Serena, she hadn’t seen her, let alone apologize to her.
The resentment in her heart hadn’t subsided; instead, it pressed on her chest, making her uncomfortable day by day.
The more she thought about it, the more she felt that not having given birth to this daughter would have been better!
"I have only one daughter."
Refocusing from Serena, Claire Sullivan answered in a steady voice.
Zoe Quinn became anxious upon hearing this, grabbing Claire Sullivan’s arm, her eyes reddened, she forced a smile, "It’s right for mom to care about sister."
"Zoe."
Seeing Zoe nearly in tears over her words, Claire Sullivan felt this was her good daughter, sensible, obedient, and considerate of her.
She gently patted Zoe’s hand, then addressed the cameras, casting a sidelong glance at Serena approaching, lowering her voice to coldly declare, "I have only one daughter, Zoe Quinn!"
The surroundings fell silent instantly, reporters holding microphones paused in disbelief, exchanging glances, even Ethan Grant, who was wheeling Serena over, stopped and looked in Claire Sullivan’s direction.
"Mrs. Quinn, are you severing your mother-daughter relationship with Serena?"
Reporters quickly followed up, "Why!"
"Is it because you’re ashamed of her disability?"
"Or now that you have a stepdaughter, you no longer want your biological daughter?"
No matter the circumstances, Serena is still Claire Sullivan’s only biological daughter, yet here Claire told the media she no longer wanted her!
Moreover, today is the final competition day of The Brilliance Competition.
If Serena really is participating, it’s a significant day for her.
Claire Sullivan’s actions seemed like an intentional attempt to disrupt Serena before the competition, didn’t they?
Many people quickly recalled how, after Serena’s car accident, Claire went out with Joel Quinn and his daughter.
All of Serena’s medical expenses weren’t covered by her either.
"I no longer have any relationship with her."
Claire Sullivan’s voice grew even colder and more urgent as she emphasized, "I have only one daughter—Zoe Quinn!"
It was Serena who always bullied Zoe;
It was Serena who insisted on destroying her happiness;
It was also Serena who first renounced her as her mother.
So, she was outright telling everyone here, she no longer considers Serena her daughter.
This was to ease Zoe’s mind before the competition.
"Mom!"
Claire Sullivan’s words took both Zoe Quinn and Ruth Hale by surprise, but inwardly, they were overjoyed.
