Mr. Grant Treats Me Like a Treasure
Chapter 32: Why Didn’t You Die Outside?
CHAPTER 32: CHAPTER 32: WHY DIDN’T YOU DIE OUTSIDE?
"I..."
Because of fear, tears gushed from her eyes, Zoe Quinn mustered the courage, but before she finished calling out, Ethan Grant stepped past her.
"Ethan!" She cried and chased after him for a few steps, Ethan stopped and turned his head to look at her.
Zoe felt a moment of joy, knowing Ethan was momentarily misled by Serena Sullivan’s words, and once his anger subsided, it would be alright. She was just about to smile when Ethan stated firmly, "She hasn’t taken me away from you."
Never!
Zoe stood there stunned, watching Ethan stride away, then suddenly something occurred to her, making her shake her head repeatedly.
No, her Ethan loved her, it was only because of Serena’s instigations that he treated her this way.
In the midst of strong self-assurance, Zoe reached to wipe the tears on her face, but the pain upon touching her cheek made her hiss, causing tears to fall swiftly again.
As she came back to her senses, Ethan and his people were already gone, leaving her alone in the quiet and empty mall. Her phone rang, which frightened Zoe into trembling, and when she saw it was Claire Sullivan, her tears burst out as she hurriedly answered it, crying heartbreakingly to the person on the other end, "Mom, I’ve been bullied by my sister!"
Ethan didn’t help her, but Claire definitely would.
Back at Willow Yarrow, with the servants’ help, Serena Sullivan took a shower, changed into clean clothes, and then had a nice sleep. By the time she woke up, it was dark outside.
She got up, leaned on the bed to sit herself into the wheelchair, ready to go outside for dinner.
Last night, Ethan came home very late, she didn’t meet him. Today she had hit Zoe, he would probably go to comfort and accompany Zoe, surely he wouldn’t come back at this time.
She enjoyed the feeling of dining alone, thinking it was quite nice.
Just as she started her meal, her phone rang.
The phone had been smashed to pieces by Zoe, but when she got home, she fixed it up with tools herself, although the screen was so cracked she could barely read the number displayed.
She answered and put it on speaker.
"Serena, what on earth do you want!"
The furious voice came through; Serena was relieved she hadn’t held the phone to her ear, or her eardrum would’ve been screamed at beyond repair.
"Mom, anything the matter?"
Serena replied with a faint smile, knowing the question was rhetorical; she hadn’t changed her phone number in four years, yet Claire never called once.
Calling now in such an aggressive manner, starting off scolding her, must surely be because of Zoe.
However, considering how long it’d been since she threw Zoe into the storeroom, Claire’s call was late. Or perhaps Zoe was unlucky, and the repair sign outside the restroom was noticed late, only now was she let out.
"You have the nerve to ask what’s the matter! Look at what you’ve done to Zoe!"
"Mm!" Serena smiled, "It’s not too bad."
She didn’t let the bodyguards ruin Zoe’s face, which was already quite a courtesy.
"What did you say!" Claire didn’t expect Serena to respond in such a manner, she was furious, and she growled, "Serena, how did you become so malicious!"
The words "malicious" were particularly emphasized by Claire; in the quiet room, the servants caring for Serena, and the person coming through the door, all heard clearly.
"Malicious?" Serena laughed, picking up the dish with chopsticks, slowly chewing it in her mouth, while the harsh, unpleasant sound followed from the phone again.
