CHAPTER 36: CHAPTER 36: MY SERENA IS THE BEST

Noticing her hesitation, Finn Chandler sent another message, determined not to let Serena Sullivan resist.

"I’ll send someone to pick you up tomorrow morning."

Serena remembered she had plans for tomorrow and typed back, "I have to report to The Grant Corporation tomorrow."

"You’re joining The Grant Corporation? As a designer? My Serena is the best."

Anna Morgan happily sent several thumbs-up emojis.

"Chief Designer."

After those five words were sent, there was no response from Finn Chandler and Anna Morgan for a while. When Anna finally replied, it was a bunch of question marks.

Serena was dissatisfied: Do they think I’m not capable enough for the chief designer position?

"It’s strange that Ethan Grant, that scumbag, has regained his sight!" Anna Morgan did not hold back, indicating that the chief designer position was reserved for Zoe Quinn, and it’s odd that Ethan Grant would give it to Serena!

"It was the interviewer’s decision; when it reached him, it was already set."

"Ethan Grant is so useless!" Anna Morgan was puzzled, "Something feels off here!"

"You guys don’t believe in my abilities."

Being questioned by her best friends about earning the chief designer role, Serena felt angry.

As she pondered using her job at The Grant Corporation to dismiss Finn Chandler’s attempt to get her to the hospital for a check-up, Finn sent another message, "I’ll help you take a leave."

Serena still wanted to fight desperately, but Anna Morgan also sent a one-word message: "Behave."

Seeing her two friends "forcing" her to get a check-up, Serena could only give up resistance. She knew that if she didn’t go to the hospital tomorrow, Finn Chandler’s people would grab her once she left home.

Finn Chandler wasn’t as easygoing as Anna.

Oh well, get some sleep early and visit the hospital tomorrow before heading to The Grant Corporation.

The morning sunshine spilled into the room, lighting up the dining room where a man sat at the table in a sharply ironed white shirt. The table was laden with a sumptuous lunch, but he hadn’t touched a bite, only sipping slowly from a coffee cup held in his distinct, bony fingers. He occasionally lifted his head, glancing in the direction of the bedroom.

The sound of a door opening broke the peace and quiet of the room.

"Alright, I’m coming down now."

A woman’s gentle laughter followed, and Ethan Grant lowered his head, finally picking up a spoon to eat his breakfast. As he dined, he lifted his gaze slightly, seeing a beautiful, delicate face gradually entering his view, accompanied by the roll of a wheelchair.

Serena was woken early by a call from Finn Chandler, saying the car was waiting downstairs at Willow Yarrow, and that if she didn’t come out in half an hour, he’d send someone up to grab her.

She quickly washed up and casually threw on a dress before heading out.

As she wheeled herself into the living room, she instantly felt the atmosphere outside was a bit strange. After taking Finn Chandler’s urgent calls, she looked up and saw the man sitting at the dining area.

Their eyes met, and he stared at her, a warm emotion flowing through his deep eyes that stirred Serena’s heart inexplicably, leaving her in a daze, almost thinking she was dreaming.

But in a blink, the man’s expression turned indifferent, his profound eyes grew cold. He asked displeasingly, "Where are you going?"

Serena didn’t expect Ethan Grant to still be home at this time. Last night, he had inexplicably gotten angry, slammed the door, and left. He only returned after 2 a.m. She smiled slightly and greeted, "Morning, Mr. Grant."

"Come here, have breakfast."

Ethan Grant spoke in a calm voice, and seeing Serena still sitting in place, he lightly frowned, "If you don’t eat breakfast, you’ll make people at The Grant Corporation think I mistreat my wife."

"No, it’s not that."

Serena was somewhat surprised that Ethan was speaking to her so equably today, even giving the impression that he was waiting for her.

"I have a few things to do this morning, and I’ve already asked HR for leave."

She took leave this morning?

Ethan Grant’s brows furrowed tightly; why wasn’t he aware of this?
