Mr. Grant Treats Me Like a Treasure
Chapter 39: Too Horrible to Look At
CHAPTER 39: CHAPTER 39: TOO HORRIBLE TO LOOK AT
Serena Sullivan knew she couldn’t escape, so she sat in the wheelchair and let Claire Sullivan push her forward, hoping the bodyguards would come soon. She didn’t want to watch Zoe Quinn’s performance any longer.
Claire Sullivan pushed Serena up to a ward, then turned back to glare at her coldly before pushing the door open and entering. Her face immediately softened with a smile, and her tone became gentle, "Zoe, Mommy’s here to see you."
"Mom, I’m fine, you didn’t have to come."
"You’re hurt so badly, how could I not be worried!"
Listening to the conversation inside, Serena curled her lips. She had a massive car accident, but didn’t see Claire show up.
"Mom, you’re so good to me."
"Silly Zoe."
Through the crack in the door, Serena saw Claire holding Zoe’s hand with a tender face. The picture of such motherly love and filial piety was truly glaring, and she couldn’t stand it any longer. Yet, it was difficult for her, a cripple, to turn the wheelchair around in the hallway.
The two in the room heard a noise, and Claire suddenly remembered Serena outside. She patted Zoe’s hand and said, "Your sister’s here. Let her apologize to you."
Serena came? Zoe’s eyes lit up, and after hearing Claire’s words, her smile deepened while a cold glint flashed in her eyes. She was beaten like this, and an apology was all she’d get? No, she wanted to ruin Serena’s face too.
Claire went out, her face severe, and pushed Serena, who hadn’t rolled far, back into the ward. Serena sighed lightly and resigned herself to the situation.
Pushed into the ward, Serena lifted her head and saw Zoe on the bed, taken aback.
How to describe Zoe’s face?
Swollen! Ugly!
To sum up in four words—Heart-wrenchingly unbearable!
She remembered that when she left, Zoe’s facial injuries weren’t that severe. Had things swollen to such a state overnight!
Or had Zoe slapped herself a few more times to highlight the image of being pitifully bullied, as if that were impossible!
The five hits she instructed the bodyguards to deliver had been heavy enough!
Zoe took in Serena’s expression, noticing her frown. Underneath the blanket, Zoe’s hand clenched tightly into a fist, nails digging sharply into the palm flesh.
Serena’s legs were ruined, and only then did Zoe feel superior. Now...
Sitting in the wheelchair, Serena remained dazzlingly beautiful, while Zoe’s face had been slapped into this ghostly appearance!
"Sister!"
Zoe called out with a quivering voice, tears swiftly streaming down her eyes, her frail body beneath the hospital gown trembling slightly, and she spoke hurriedly, "I’m sorry, I won’t dare anymore."
Serena smiled, looking coldly at Zoe engrossed in her act, while Claire beside them was deeply pained, hurriedly sitting by the bed, holding Zoe’s cold and trembling hand.
"Please, don’t let anyone hit me again!"
"I’m wrong, I shouldn’t have fought you for Brother Chen."
Zoe was exceedingly frightened, clutching Claire’s hands tightly, making Claire feel incredibly sorry.
She turned her head, her expression shifting, and scolded Serena, "Look what you’ve done! You beat Zoe into this state."
Seeing the smile still lingering on Serena’s face, Claire’s anger intensified, "Serena, apologize to Zoe immediately."
Serena curled the corners of her mouth, sneering coldly, replied, "Mom, I only had her hit five times."
"Those five hits won’t ruin her face."
The implication being, what did Zoe’s face being slapped into this state have to do with her.
Besides, she didn’t feel she was wrong for having it done!
