Mr. Grant Treats Me Like a Treasure
Chapter 44: Don’t Hug Me
CHAPTER 44: CHAPTER 44: DON’T HUG ME
When they reached the passenger seat, Ethan Grant opened the car door and bent down, Serena Sullivan’s face changed, she hurriedly stopped him, "No need for such trouble, just go to the back seat."
She remembered that at the Sullivan Family entrance, she used this car, there must be a mechanism inside to lower the position of the back seat.
"It’s no trouble!"
Ethan Grant said calmly, without allowing Serena Sullivan to resist, he reached out to lift her from the wheelchair.
The two had been in a relationship for five years, everything that should have happened, happened. The "princess carry," Ethan Grant didn’t know how many times he had held her like this.
As Ethan Grant encircled Serena Sullivan’s body with one hand and placed the other under her legs, he paused for a moment.
Serena Sullivan sensed his change, her face turned pale, she put her hands against his chest, "Put me down!"
Ethan Grant didn’t heed her words, he held her tighter against his chest, glancing down at her panicked face, he said softly, "Just a moment."
Speaking, he gently placed Serena Sullivan on the seat.
The entire process took only a moment, Serena Sullivan remained motionless, her body tensed, she closed her eyes tightly.
But in that moment, the thought of wanting to die crossed her mind.
It had been four years, she’s indifferent to others’ ridicule, unafraid of their bullying. When Ethan Grant held her, her eyes instantly turned red, the countless defenses she had built up inside were shattered at this moment.
When Ethan Grant gently placed her on the seat, her body was still trembling.
With a "bang," the car door closed, Ethan Grant turned away, collected the wheelchair and put it in the trunk.
Through the rearview mirror, Serena Sullivan watched Ethan Grant finish up, walk to another car, his back to her, lighting a cigarette.
Smoke swirled around him, it was clear he was smoking intensely.
She stared foolishly at his back, the tears that had been held in her eyes uncontrollably flowed out.
However, just as the tears fell on her cheeks, she remembered something, she turned and grabbed the tissues nearby, quickly wiping the tears from her face.
Little by little, gradually, she did not know why, they kept coming out.
Serena Sullivan could only take deep breaths, over and over again, finally stopping the flow of tears.
After a while, Ethan Grant returned after finishing his cigarette, he opened the door, got in, started the car, and left the hospital’s underground parking lot.
Inside the car, unlike last time, there were only the two of them, neither spoke, it was very quiet.
Serena Sullivan kept her head down, always looking at the blanket on her legs, or rather, at her legs.
Beside her, Ethan Grant focused intently ahead, his hands trembling slightly on the steering wheel, yet he tensely held on, exerting all his strength to grip tightly, like a novice driver fearing any mistake would lead to an irreparable error.
"In the future, when you go out, I’ll give..."
"I’ll arrange for someone to take you."
Ethan Grant spoke first, his voice was still cool, but had slowed considerably.
Serena Sullivan didn’t understand why Ethan Grant suddenly said this.
Was he feeling guilty towards her?
"No need."
She refused, "Finn Chandler and Anna will arrange someone."
For four years, they took turns accompanying her, or had their people take care of her.
Ethan Grant had never appeared.
"I don’t want my wife to be cared for by other men."
Ethan Grant said resolutely, his tone firm.
Serena Sullivan was taken aback, where were there other men.
Finn Chandler certainly wasn’t!
She thought about it, but didn’t voice this out, before she could find other words to refuse, Ethan Grant decided the matter with one sentence.
"That’s settled, I’ll drive!"
