Mr. Grant Treats Me Like a Treasure
Chapter 53: Deliberately Blocking Her Path
CHAPTER 53: CHAPTER 53: DELIBERATELY BLOCKING HER PATH
Next, Serena Sullivan assigned work to Shannon Shaw and Zoe Quinn. As the Chief Designer, she had the authority to allocate their tasks.
Serena directly demanded that they submit a draft within three days. Her attitude was firm, stifling their spirits with anger, especially Shannon Shaw.
In front of Serena, they pretended to comply, but once she left, they cursed angrily.
When Serena arrived at the office door, she heard the sycophantic voices of women inside.
"Miss Quinn, the necklace around your neck is truly beautiful!"
She stopped her wheelchair outside, seeing two pretty girls surrounding Zoe Quinn.
Zoe Quinn still wore a mask, covering most of her face. At first glance, her eyes were clear and vibrant, but deeper within, they held a haughty and smug smile tinged with an inexplicable chilliness.
"Indeed."
Shannon Shaw was the one who responded.
The three designers who made it to the finals were Zoe Quinn, Shannon Shaw, and the one praising Zoe’s necklace.
It seemed that the current situation wasn’t favorable for Serena Sullivan, three against one.
"This necklace was the award Miss Quinn won back then," Shannon Shaw said with a smile.
"Was it from ’The Brilliance Competition’?"
"Yes." Zoe Quinn replied softly, "After the competition ended, my mother had it custom-made to celebrate my championship; there’s only one."
She spoke with a smile, looking down as she gently touched the necklace with her fingers.
"Miss Quinn, you are truly impressive."
The other designer looked at Zoe Quinn with admiration, "Miss Quinn, you come from a good family, you’re beautiful, gentle, and have even won ’The Brilliance Competition.’
Good family background? Just the daughter of a driver, with nothing remarkable, but a stepmother who can find her way around.
"I really don’t understand why they chose Serena Sullivan as the Chief Designer."
Shannon Shaw picked up the conversation with a sneer. She entered The Grant Corporation thanks to Zoe Quinn, and after being slapped five times by Serena Sullivan’s people in a shopping mall washroom last time, she of course sided with Zoe Quinn, nursing a grudge against Serena.
"I don’t understand why anyone would curry favor with her either."
Shannon Shaw continued, Ethan Grant drove Sean Lockwood away to help Serena establish authority at The Grant Corporation, making everyone shift to flattering Serena.
"If it weren’t for Miss Quinn and Mr. Grant having a falling out, she wouldn’t have the chance to show off here!"
Zoe Quinn heard this and the smile on her lips grew even wider.
Yes, if she hadn’t upset Ethan, how could he have been so harsh with her, and how could he declare, in front of Sean, that Serena was his wife?
"And a cripple thinks she can order us around!"
Shannon Shaw spoke coldly once more, full of disdain. From the start, they pulled another designer in to chat, aligning the three of them against Serena.
So what if she is the Chief Designer! They only listen to Miss Quinn.
With a loud "boom," the office door was pushed open. Startled, Shannon Shaw and her group turned around to find Serena Sullivan wheeling herself in. Their expressions changed instantly, especially Shannon Shaw and the other designer.
"Are your hands crippled too, that opening a door needs such a noise?"
Stepping forward a few paces, Shannon Shaw intentionally blocked Serena’s path in the corridor.
Zoe Quinn watched Shannon Shaw take the lead, saying nothing. She smiled faintly, wondering what a disabled person like Serena could do!
"Move," Serena couldn’t even be bothered to say to Shannon Shaw, nor did she turn her wheelchair to another direction.
Shannon Shaw had every intention to block her, moving in whatever direction Serena tried to go.
Seeing this, Serena was uninterested in using useless tactics. She bowed her head, took out her phone, and dialed a number.
"Assistant Sterling!"
