Mr. Grant Treats Me Like a Treasure
Chapter 70: Filing a Complaint
CHAPTER 70: CHAPTER 70: FILING A COMPLAINT
"Get out!" The two cold words carried no emotion whatsoever, and the loathing quickly spread throughout the depths of his eyes, making the air-conditioned office feel even colder, evoking a sense of entering an ice cellar.
The secretary couldn’t help but shiver and was just about to ask Zoe Quinn to leave the office, but Zoe spoke first, "Didn’t you hear him tell you to leave?"
As she spoke, she gathered her courage, flashed a smile, and walked toward Ethan Grant full of tenderness, "Ethan, I missed you." Seeing Ethan made Zoe’s heart race. If Ethan four years ago was a handsome but ill-tempered young master, the Ethan now was mature, composed, and indifferent, exuding charm with every move, drawing Zoe to him time and again.
Ethan turned his head to look at Zoe Quinn, who was smiling at him, his face tightening with disgust while Zoe, narcissistically, didn’t notice.
"I told you to get lost!"
His voice softened, and he raised a hand to take a drag from his cigarette, the smoke forming an invisible barrier between him and Zoe.
Being humiliated like this in front of the secretary, Zoe’s smile froze, and she softened her voice, calling out in grievance, "Ethan, I came to let you hear something."
She quickly pulled out her phone from her bag. As long as Ethan listened to the audio, he would surely see through Serena Sullivan’s true nature and "dote" on her as before.
With these thoughts, Zoe’s eyes brightened again, and she played the audio for Ethan.
"Sister, what are you doing!"
"Sister, it was wrong of me to wrong you, but Shanshan has already been taken away, this matter has nothing to do with me."
...
"Do you want me to push you?"
"I have pretty good acting skills too."
The two women’s voices played in succession from the phone, one weak and pitifully pleading, the other cold and scheming.
Anyone hearing these two contrasting voices and the dialogue content would sympathize with the aggrieved Zoe. Ethan said nothing, continuing to smoke his cigarette, one puff after another, the smoke growing denser and causing Zoe to cough, forcing her to take a few steps back.
Once she regained her composure, she gazed at the handsome man beneath the slowly dispersing smoke, her heart skipping a beat.
Sean Lockwood was more attractive than Ethan Grant, and both came from comparable family backgrounds, but every move of Ethan’s was simply bewitching.
Zoe Quinn must have fallen the hardest.
"Ethan, did you hear about what happened this morning?"
Zoe guessed that Yvette Sterling had told Ethan. When they caused a scene that got the police involved, Ethan didn’t even show his face, perhaps because he truly didn’t care about Serena Sullivan, so he didn’t send anyone to handle it.
"My necklace was on the desk last night, but when I came to work this morning, it was gone. I searched for it for a long time, and found out it was in my sister’s drawer, along with a micro camera on my desk plant that captured her touching my necklace."
"Later, my sister showed another video, only to discover that Shanshan, who resented my sister for hitting her, stole my necklace to frame her." Tears welled up in Zoe’s eyes; her tears, about to fall but not yet fallen, were bound to make a man want to wipe them away.
Ethan seemed to not notice, focused intently on his smoking.
"I just went to the restroom to apologize to my sister." Zoe said, sobbing twice, and wiped away the tears about to fall, "But she suddenly pushed me and said something about her acting being good."
As she reached this point, Zoe’s tears flowed more freely, her sobs growing louder.
She had mastered the art of crying perfectly.
