Mr. Grant Treats Me Like a Treasure
Chapter 74: I’m Tired
CHAPTER 74: CHAPTER 74: I’M TIRED
The restaurant is on the seventeenth floor. They sat by the window, the night view outside slowly coming into view. Serena Sullivan ordered red wine; once it was on the table, she sipped it, without touching the dishes on the table.
"Serena, take it easy on the drinking. If Finn Chandler finds out, he’ll skin me alive,"
Anna Morgan looked at Serena Sullivan in this state and said worriedly.
"She’s not here, how could she know." Serena smiled, took a sip from the wine glass. Finn Chandler always had a stern face and said little; Anna Morgan was most afraid of her.
Not that she was an alcoholic, but back when the old Mr. Sullivan and Claire Sullivan intended to groom her to take over The Sullivan Corporation, she had to learn socializing skills, and as a girl, the ability to handle alcohol to some extent was expected, hence her liking for red wine.
However, after all this time, The Sullivan Corporation is not hers, it has become the possession of The Joyce Family.
"Serena, did that guy named Xie say something earlier that upset you?"
"No!" Serena smiled and denied it, "You take me out to dinner, aren’t I allowed a couple of drinks?"
In the past, Anna Morgan would absolutely have drunk along with her, then both of them would get drunk, acting crazy before calling Finn Chandler to pick them up.
The problem is, Serena’s health isn’t good; if she drank too much, Finn Chandler’s expression was terrifying, Anna couldn’t bear to look.
"Serena." Seeing Serena leaning back in her chair, sipping slowly, Anna couldn’t help but ask again, "Did Ethan Grant bully you?"
"Should I take you away from Solaria?"
When Serena insisted on returning to Solaria, Anna Morgan disagreed.
But Serena was resolute, and Finn Chandler acquiesced; all Anna could do was accompany her well.
"No!" Because of the red wine, her cheeks were flushed and warm, that radiant face causing passing guests to inevitably slow down for another look at Serena, but upon noticing she was seated in a wheelchair, some registered shock, others contempt.
Everyone was thinking how a beautiful woman like this could be crippled!
"Just feeling a bit tired."
Serena spoke softly at the end, she bowed her head, smiled, and took another sip.
Anna Morgan heard these words, became anxious, stood up beside Serena, "Serena, Dr. Davis said there’s still a chance for your legs to be treated, don’t do anything foolish."
The first year, Serena really did foolish things, each time saved by Finn Chandler or Anna Morgan, they stood by her, stayed with her.
In the following years, Serena smiled more than ever before and never cried in front of them again, yet they still feared.
Because, they knew better than anyone, what Serena lost would never return in this life.
"Poof!" Serena laughed out loud seeing Anna squatting in front of her, staring at her with fear in her eyes, "I’m just kidding you!"
"With you and Finn loving me this much, how could I lose hope? Besides, I haven’t gotten The Sullivan Corporation yet."
Serena’s smile deepened, her eyes sparkled brightly without any trace of sadness, this side of her quickly convinced Anna; Serena thought if Finn Chandler were here, she would pierce through her pretense directly, but Anna, although talented in acting, was too naive.
Long ago she had stopped wanting to live.
Why should she live like this!
Her legs were crippled, she couldn’t stand at all, last time at the mall, Zoe Quinn and Shannon Shaw blocked her way wanting to deal with her, she could only wait for rescue.
In the hospital, Claire Sullivan wanted to take her back to The Sullivan Family, if Ethan Grant didn’t show up, she would have had to go!
She is a cripple, unable to stand for life, doomed to depend on others for life, a cripple without a future.
