Mr. Hawthorne, Your Wife Wants a Divorce Again
Chapter 60: What Are Your Measurements
CHAPTER 60: CHAPTER 60: WHAT ARE YOUR MEASUREMENTS
I feel more and more that I can’t understand him.
After a while, Old Master Hawthorne seemed a bit fatigued and needed rest.
Ann Vaughn and Cyrus Hawthorne left the hospital room together, entering the elevator.
"What’s your bust, waist, and hip measurements?"
In the silence, Cyrus suddenly spoke, his voice low and cool.
"Cough, cough, cough." Ann Vaughn’s lips twitched, looking at him in disbelief, "What did you say?"
Her strange tone made it seem like he was asking something odd. Cyrus glanced at her with a sidelong look, his voice slightly cold: "Forget it."
Ann Vaughn watched his cold, stiff profile for a moment, then turned her gaze, the inexplicable feeling in her eyes growing stronger.
Why would he suddenly ask her measurements? Ann Vaughn finally understood when she got back to The Water Terrace.
Auntie Golding left her room after writing down the measured sizes, having not given Ann Vaughn a nice look due to a previous conversation.
She no longer made medicinal meals, and naturally, she wouldn’t do other cooking or housework either.
Ann Vaughn pondered that Cyrus must have asked about the measurements to order a custom dress, as the Hawthorne Family’s status wouldn’t allow her to just buy a dress off the rack.
Cyrus’s clothes were all high-end custom designs by famous brands, each piece unbelievably luxurious and unique.
She had thought he was merely putting Grandpa Hawthorne off, but she didn’t expect he really intended to take her.
Ann Vaughn didn’t continue thinking about it and instead ordered a new set of books online by title in preparation for returning to her studies.
This time, she was determined to fulfill the promise to her grandfather and graduate from The Herbalist Hospital.
But——
Even though Grandpa Hawthorne and Cyrus had no objections to her returning to study, Laura Quinn had a massive reaction.
"Dad, this traditional medicine that harms people should have disappeared from the world long ago. She can study anything else at school, but not traditional medicine. What would outsiders think of the Hawthorne Family?"
"I’ve already made my decision on this matter. You should have some understanding of how I survived this time. Is having such an outstanding daughter-in-law something to be ashamed of?"
"No matter what, I will never agree to this!"
The sounds of arguing came from the hospital room, and Ann Vaughn could feel the tension and anger from the other side of the door.
"Laura Quinn, the Hawthorne Family isn’t yours to rule! If you have a problem with my decision, wait until I’m buried before you try to take over!" Old Master Hawthorne was completely angry, finding Laura’s objections intolerable.
If it weren’t for sympathizing with her son’s disappearance and Laura having to manage the household alone, Old Master Hawthorne had no fondness for this daughter-in-law who loved currying favor and taking advantage of situations.
"Dad!" Laura Quinn clenched her teeth, her refined, elegant face contorted, and seeing the old man wouldn’t relent, she turned and left.
But when she reached the hospital room door, she ran into Ann Vaughn.
Laura Quinn was already fuming, and after being scolded by Old Master Hawthorne, she saw Ann Vaughn and, unable to control her anger, lifted her hand and slapped her!
"Ah——"
The painful scream echoed down the hallway.
Ann Vaughn raised her insulated container to block Laura Quinn’s slap, but she didn’t expect the force to be so strong that two of her nails broke.
One could only imagine what would have happened if that slap had landed on her face.
Ann Vaughn’s face slightly changed, pulling back her hand, she spoke to Laura Quinn, who was in too much pain to speak, "Mom, you should go see a doctor quickly; your anger is harming your body."
Sometimes she wondered what on Earth she could have done that was so outrageously wrong to make Laura Quinn resort to either insults or violence the moment she saw her.
