Mr. Sterling, Mrs. Sterling is Multifaceted!
Chapter 113: Nanny Lynch’s Funeral
CHAPTER 113: CHAPTER 113: NANNY LYNCH’S FUNERAL
"The Lynch Family sure has guts. I’ve given my warning long ago, yet they still dare to support the Redgrave mother and daughter."
Ethan Sterling’s expression was displeased.
In the current Sovereign financial world, everyone knows that Ethan Sterling is hell-bent on destroying the Redgrave Family for some unknown reason, yet the Lynch Family dares to defy him. They’re really living on borrowed time.
"Leo Lynch has been overly sheltered by his family. He has no cunning whatsoever. Just a few tears from Mia Redgrave are enough to soften his heart."
Seraphina Redgrave spoke coldly, "Although he’s just the younger son and most of the family wealth is controlled by his brother, the old Mrs. Lynch is very fond of him. As long as he asks, she’ll surely help him."
She was sharing the intel she had on the Lynch Family, but didn’t notice Ethan’s face growing increasingly grim.
Ethan grasped Seraphina’s chin, forcing her to look up, and stared at her coldly, "Seems like you know quite a lot about the younger Lynch son. One more compliment, and I can’t guarantee his life will remain untouched."
Was she even praising Leo Lynch?
Seraphina looked at Ethan’s face, as dark as the bottom of a pot, speechless. She said, "Anyone protecting the Redgrave Family is an enemy of mine."
That’s more like it.
Only then did Ethan let go of Seraphina, "From now on, remember, by my side, your eyes and mind should only have me, Ethan Sterling."
No other men allowed.
Seraphina was even more speechless.
Nathan Ayers sent another message, making Ethan raise an eyebrow as he looked at his phone, "Could Leo Lynch really be an idiot? Planning to marry Mia Redgrave at this critical juncture?"
The wedding date is already set?
Seraphina was momentarily taken aback, then took the phone from Ethan’s hand:
[Nathan Ayers: Mia Redgrave and Leo Lynch have decided to secretly get married, with Old Mrs. Lynch as their witness.]
Leo Lynch truly is a fool.
Mia Redgrave’s plan is to tie the Lynch and Redgrave families together. Once they’re married, Mia will certainly make it public nationwide, making it impossible for the Lynch Family to distance themselves from the Redgrave Family.
Not bad at all.
Mia Redgrave truly played her cards well.
Seraphina immediately knew what she had to do.
She got up right away, sat on the edge of the bed, slipped on her slippers, and stood up. Although she felt unwell, it wasn’t a major issue.
Ethan watched Seraphina, "Where are you going?"
Seraphina walked to the doorway of the bedroom’s wardrobe, took a piece of black clothing from the entrance, and slowly said, "Holding a funeral."
She already knew where to hold it.
Ethan propped his head up, watching her, his gaze darkening, clearly aware of what she intended to do, "I’ll get people for you."
This wasn’t something he wanted to personally deal with, and he didn’t particularly want Seraphina to handle it either.
But if he stopped Seraphina this time, she’d be sulking in bed afterward, so he just let her go.
"Fine." Seraphina looked at Ethan indifferently, "You prepare a team for me, and I’ll settle the payment with you."
"Drawing such clear boundaries?"
Ethan was slightly irritated.
Did she think he was poor to demand payment for mobilizing people for her?
She just wanted not to owe anything further.
Seraphina knew that if she continued talking, it would only make Ethan angrier, so she simply shut up and went to change into a dress.
Old Mrs. Lynch lived in a special estate that the Lynch Family had built for her, modeled after an ancient garden style. It was picturesque, with streams and rockeries, except for being a bit small. There were no other notable flaws.
Leo Lynch, wearing a white suit, stood in front of the flowing water, looking at the lotus flowers in the water, his face not looking good.
The old Mrs. Lynch was entirely unaware of the situation outside, coaxed by Mia Redgrave’s simple words to witness their wedding.
But now that rumors about the Redgrave Family were widespread across Sovereign, it’s impossible to separate truth from fiction. He originally had no plans to marry immediately, but seeing Mia weeping uncontrollably, even claiming she would take her own life, he ultimately couldn’t remain unmoved.
During the year Seraphina disappeared, Mia stayed by his side, comforting and encouraging him, even giving her first time to him.
Mia was just barely of age back then.
With Mia, he wasn’t just fooling around; he wanted to spend his life with her. But after the rumors spread about the Redgrave Family, he hesitated.
"Leo!"
Mia stood on the opposite side of a man-made stream, wearing a beautifully intricate wedding dress. She clutched her stomach, and even with heavy makeup, her exhaustion was visible to the naked eye.
Leo stopped thinking about all the messy stuff and walked to Mia’s side, supporting her frail figure, "You’re still not well. Why come out here and expose yourself to the wind?"
He initially thought Mia’s sudden frailty was because the Redgrave Family had abruptly fallen from grace, Jonathan Redgrave was arrested, and she couldn’t cope with the shock. But he was unaware of the true reason behind it all.
"Are you going to abandon me?"
Mia stood there, her eyes red-rimmed, looking up at Leo with vulnerability, "Previously, Seraphina told you I wanted to go public with you. Now you probably think I’m a scheming bad woman, don’t you?"
Seraphina sure was persistent, managing to even predict her last move.
"It’s not like that."
Leo was somewhat exasperated.
"Yes, it is! Seraphina saw you’re my boyfriend now, got jealous and targeted our family. Now you’re listening to her words and want to break up with me!" Tears streamed down Mia’s face as she spoke to Leo.
This was the explanation Mia had prepared long ago.
The reason Seraphina attacked the Redgrave Family was because of Leo. So if Leo couldn’t bear it, he should marry her and let her feel secure.
"I just find it hard to believe, would Seraphina really target the Redgrave Family because of me?"
Leo found it hard to believe. When Seraphina was around, he had confessed his feelings, but she hadn’t accepted. Why would she do this now?
"It must be!"
Mia weakly collapsed into Leo’s arms, enduring the pain and crying, "Leo, you’re too kind. That’s why Seraphina is so jealous and ruthless to the Redgrave Family. I have no family anymore. If you can’t provide one, I’ll...ugh..."
Mia suddenly had a stomach ache, so painful that she couldn’t say another word. Leo immediately comforted her, "If you’re uncomfortable, don’t exert yourself. I have no intention of breaking up. The wedding is almost ready. We’re getting married soon. Are you still worried I’ll change my mind?"
Leo carried Mia back to the room.
Mia, weak and frail, leaned against Leo’s chest, her eyes full of hatred.
She and her mother received a call, claiming that as long as they could kill Seraphina, the Redgrave Family would still have a chance. However, Seraphina was still alive, and the mysterious person who made the promise could no longer be reached.
Leo Lynch was the only one left who could protect their mother and daughter.
Leo’s parents were so observant that they would never allow him to marry her, but Old Mrs. Lynch was different; she knew nothing. And having her as a witness meant the Lynch Family would have to acknowledge it no matter what.
Once the ceremony was over, the Lynch and Redgrave families would be bound together, and saving the Redgrave Family would be necessary.
Although this wedding was nothing like her fantasy.
It was now the only way left.
