CHAPTER 125: CHAPTER 125: SOOTHING HER

Seraphina Redgrave sat in place, looking at Ethan Sterling indifferently, "Why did you stop, Young Master Sterling, go on, this way I can owe you a little less debt."

Once she’s repaid his kindness, she wouldn’t have to be so cautious in the future.

Was Seraphina blaming him?

She clearly had no intention of escaping, yet he almost hurt her.

Ethan awkwardly cleared his throat in a low voice, then slowly helped her remove the bone clamp; her calf was covered in a large bruise, painful to even look at.

Ethan looked at Seraphina, "It was Nathan Ayers who mishandled this matter, falsely accusing you. I’ll punish him later, so don’t be mad."

Still shirking responsibility.

Hearing this, Seraphina couldn’t help wanting to sneer.

She looked into Ethan’s amber eyes and said coldly, "No need, since I’m just a woman kept by Young Master Sterling, whatever you say goes, how dare I resist?"

...

She was indeed sharp-tongued.

Ethan sat in front of Seraphina, looking at her as he spoke, "You shouldn’t have spoken to that guy named Lin."

Shirking responsibility x3.

"Is Young Master Sterling not satisfied with my legs and now plans to cut out my tongue?"

This way, he wouldn’t have to worry about her talking to other men, and his possessiveness could be fulfilled.

Ethan’s expression darkened with displeasure, "Seraphina, who allowed you to talk to me in this tone?"

Seraphina sat in place, slowly lowered her head, and watched her bruised calf, falling into silence.

Ethan followed her gaze to her bruised calf, frowned, and wanted to reach out to touch her injured leg.

Seraphina agilely stood up, avoided his hand, and looked at him as she spoke, "Young Master Sterling, I want to read now."

Though her words were compliant, Ethan heard a taste of rebellion in them.

"No..."

"Thank you, Young Master Sterling."

Seraphina bent slightly, quickly picked up the boxes on the floor, and carried them upstairs.

Ethan watched Seraphina’s back, gritting his teeth. This woman was getting more and more disobedient. He hadn’t even agreed to let her leave yet.

Not obedient!

And with quite a temper!

The study was quiet.

Seraphina sat at her desk reading, unwilling to waste a second, wanting to grasp her previous courses entirely.

Occasionally, she couldn’t help but touch her still-painful calf.

It didn’t matter; all Ethan’s actions did was remind her to achieve what she wanted to do quickly and leave him in the shortest time possible.

Seraphina’s academic performance had always been at the top, and she had a photographic memory since childhood. She seriously read the book in her hand, imprinting every word in her mind.

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.

Seraphina glanced at her phone, knowing Granny Coleman was calling her to dinner, and spoke, "I’m not hungry yet."

The door was opened.

The study fell silent again, but Seraphina felt that someone was watching her.

Something was off.

Seraphina looked up and was about to see who it was when a large jar of light pink glass appeared in front of her eyes.

The jar was filled with her favorite strawberry candies.

The man’s fingers tapped on the lid of the jar, long and beautiful.

"For you."

The man’s deep voice, like a cello, sounded above her head.

On her "Jurisprudence" book was placed a jar of her favorite little sweets.

On "Legal History" was placed a jar of gems.

Seraphina looked at them carefully; they were real gems, varying in color, some seemingly freshly mined without specific shapes, yet when put together, they had an indescribable beauty.

It was the first time she had seen so many types of gems simply and roughly packed in a glass jar.

She looked up, seeing Ethan standing in front of her desk, in a familiar black shirt, missing his usual sinister aura, carrying two more glass jars in his arms, continuing to place them on the desk.

A jar of random but real gold and silver jewelry, a jar of car keys.

After placing all the jars on the desk, Ethan looked up at Seraphina, his amber eyes staring at her, "I casually brought you some stuff, do you like it?"

Seraphina looked at him helplessly. Was this Ethan’s way of admitting his fault? Truly rare.

She lowered her head, placed the glass jars beside the bookshelf, and spoke without emotion, "Thank you, Young Master Sterling."

He disturbed her studies.

"That’s it?"

Ethan’s expression worsened again, placing the jar of gems back in front of Seraphina’s eyes, "These are not just any ordinary glass, these are the world’s rarest gems, some of which are already out of production."

He even brought out his mother’s collection from back in the day.

Seraphina watched as her notes were blocked by the large jar, some displeasure in her eyes, but she patiently moved the jar aside, "Mm-hmm, I’ll have Granny Coleman store them carefully, not moving a single one."

Ethan stood in place, frustrated to the point of throbbing temples.

Seraphina, her mind full of studying, picked up a pen to start marking key points again, flipping a page, and was about to make notes when Ethan’s hand pressed down on the book, blocking her pen.

Her pen left a long ink mark on the back of Ethan’s hand.

Seraphina looked at it indifferently, pondering why she hadn’t exerted more force to puncture Ethan’s hand.

It would have been better if she had.

"Is this how you treat me?"

Ethan lowered his head to look at Seraphina, extremely annoyed. The candies and jewelry he personally went out to buy, the gems and car he personally fetched from home, and yet she treated him like this?

Was what he gave her cheap glass?

Seraphina looked up at Ethan’s grim face.

It seemed he wanted her to smile at him.

Didn’t Ethan come to Hibiscus Garden just for that?

Seraphina stood up, her gaze icy, "Young Master Sterling, you go have dinner first, I’ll go take a bath."

She would get clean and wait for him, just to satisfy him.

After speaking, she turned to leave, but as soon as she stood up, her calf hurt. She bore it, walking towards the door, only to be grabbed from behind.

She was pushed against the door panel, Ethan grabbing her hands and pressing them above her head, his amber eyes staring at her fiercely, "Seraphina, Redgrave!"

He pronounced each syllable slowly in a low voice.

Seraphina looked at Ethan, but there was not a trace of emotion in her eyes.

Ethan kept her restrained against the door panel, his gaze unflinchingly on her, as if he was about to swallow her whole in the next second, yet he never took action.

Ethan sighed, placed his head on the girl’s shoulder crook, speaking dully, "How come you don’t have the sense to let things go."

He had gone this far, yet Seraphina still refused to forgive him.

How did it turn into her fault?

Seraphina felt speechless, leaning quietly against the door panel, not even bothering to say a word to Ethan.

Ethan stepped closer to Seraphina, looking into her clear eyes, speaking in a low voice, "What do I have to do for you to stop playing games?"
