CHAPTER 128: CHAPTER 128: YOU REALLY UNDERSTAND HIM

Truly ruthless.

Ronan Yates stood up aggrieved, glanced at the two boxes, and said, "Aren’t you going to read the notes? Everyone wrote them seriously."

Seraphina Redgrave remained seated, impatiently gripping the pen in her hand tightly. Then she slammed her fist onto the desk, and the pen pierced right into the table, sinking halfway in!

She actually drove the pen in!

Ronan Yates was completely dumbfounded, staring at the pen stuck in the table. He seemed to recall seeing a skewer piercing through a hand at the street market, and immediately grabbed the boxes to make an escape.

But Seraphina Redgrave suddenly thought of something and looked up at him, "Do a lot of people at school know about me?"

"Of course!" Ronan Yates exclaimed excitedly, "You brought down the famous Councilman Redgrave. Who doesn’t know the name Sylvia Shaw in school now? On the school forum, nine out of ten posts are about you."

Seraphina Redgrave pulled out the pen and glanced outside the classroom, noticing many students peering in from the window. Even some passersby were tiptoeing to catch a glimpse, as if she were a rare animal locked in a cage.

"I don’t like to be too conspicuous. Help me lower the attention."

If this continues, it will start affecting her studies.

"But you did those things, how can you lower the attention?"

Ronan Yates scratched his head in confusion. Those online celebrities wish for constant attention — how come Seraphina wants to lower hers?

"Is there anyone else at school who can draw the attention away?"

Seraphina Redgrave asked.

"Huh? Someone else? Previously, the most talked-about people at Sovereign College were the campus flowers: Mia Redgrave from The College of Arts and Selena Quinn from The Law School. Recently, Mia hasn’t been at school, and although Selena holds the reins of the Elite Society, she’s always sick and so aloof that no one dares to gossip about her."

Ronan Yates explained the leading figures at school to Seraphina, indicating that there’s no way to shift her popularity onto someone else.

Tsk.

Seraphina Redgrave thought for a bit and said, "If there’s no buzz, then create some."

"Huh?" Ronan Yates was dumbstruck, "How to create it?"

"Doesn’t our school allow live streaming? Then why not do a handstand..."

"Eat shit?" Ronan Yates shivered, "Seraphina, that’s too absurd."

To lower her attention, she wasn’t treating him like a human.

Seraphina Redgrave remained seated, glanced at Ronan, then pulled out a bank card and handed it to him, "It’s just washing your hair in a handstand. Since you’re so loyal to me, thank you for your hard work. This is your hardship allowance."

Ronan Yates was almost in tears, regretting his quick tongue, landing himself in trouble.

Seraphina Redgrave didn’t look at him again. Her phone began vibrating, so she picked up a book and walked out.

Almost every student on the path was staring at her; some were sneaky, while others were open and blatant. Every gaze seemed to say, "Look, that’s the transfer student who put Jonathan Redgrave in jail."

Seraphina Redgrave only answered the call after she descended the stairs and reached a spot where no one was around.

On the other end was Hector Shaw.

"Seraphina, your foresight is amazing. The money I helped you invest not only returned the principal but also made quite a profit."

Hector Shaw’s tone over the phone almost carried a sense of admiration, "What kind of luck combined with knowledge do you possess? Even with the Shaw Family’s vast network, we couldn’t achieve steady gains like you do."

Why was he asking her about investing again?

"Foresight is key."

Seraphina Redgrave replied.

Even though her money was in Hector Shaw’s hands, the investment decisions were entirely hers.

She needed to learn what she wanted while also earning money.

On the other end, Hector Shaw seemed to start flipping through pages and said while doing so, "Just saw the investment directions you sent me. Are you planning to make a fortune following The Sterling Family?"

Whenever Sterling planned to expand their market somewhere, Seraphina would invest in that area.

All of Sterling’s campaigns seemed to point Seraphina in the right direction. Wherever Sterling moved, she followed — unable to seize the lion’s share but still able to sip some soup by trailing Sterling, which was quite remarkable.

"In Country Z, the elite system decides all the rules, established by the top tier. Ethan Sterling is at the pinnacle, so following his lead is the fastest way to make money."

As Seraphina spoke, she gradually walked outside.

"Did he tell you this?"

Hector Shaw asked curiously.

"No."

How could Ethan Sterling possibly discuss such matters with her?

"You’re too smart. Ethan Sterling is unpredictably moody. Market prices and stock fluctuations seem to hinge on his whims. So many have lost everything because they couldn’t predict his next move, yet you can accurately guess what he’s thinking."

Hector Shaw admired Seraphina’s insight, having never been wrong, and couldn’t help but say, "You understand him well."

Hearing this, Seraphina paused in thought.

It was one thing if Hector Shaw didn’t mention it, but now that he did, she realized it was true. She seemed always to discern what Ethan was contemplating. Does that mean she understands him?

Seraphina twirled the pen in her hand, "It’s not because I understand him."

"Huh?"

Hector Shaw didn’t understand.

"It’s because I’m impressive myself."

For a moment, Hector Shaw didn’t know what to say, yet he felt there was no arguing with Seraphina’s point, "Indeed, Seraphina is the most impressive."

After all, she was the one who saved his life — could she not be impressive?

Seraphina stopped pondering over chaotic thoughts and resumed her usual stoic demeanor, "I’ll send you the upcoming investment directions later. Don’t bother me if there’s nothing urgent; I need to focus on my studies."

Ethan Sterling’s surveillance on her was far too tight. If he discovered her connection with Hector Shaw and accidentally stepped on that man’s toes, her chances of earning would be disrupted.

With all that said, Seraphina simply hung up the phone.

Afterwards, she was determined to dedicate herself to studying.

Hugging her book, she proceeded forward, and suddenly, someone bumped into her, apologized quickly, and made their escape.

As she looked down, a note had appeared in her hand.

Seraphina unfolded the note to find the words were printed.

"I know you want to leave Ethan Sterling, and I know he’s been monitoring you. Shake him off, and I’ll meet you on the rooftop of the Integrated Building."

Staring at the note, Seraphina felt it was yet another ploy by Ethan Sterling to test her.

With a cold chuckle, she crumpled the note and tossed it into the trash, but as it flew out, she suddenly realized, someone like Ethan wouldn’t use such a clumsy method. So, whose handiwork was this note?

Seraphina disliked guessing aimlessly and decided on the spot to see for herself.

The Integrated Building stood at the heart of Sovereign College, housing offices for various departments. It was the first time Seraphina had heard of a rooftop there.

Taking the elevator to the top floor and climbing another stairway, she unexpectedly found herself on the rooftop. Chairs and tables were set up there, but there wasn’t a single student in sight, only a bodyguard in a black suit.

The rooftop was densely populated with black-clad bodyguards, making it impossible to identify the mastermind.

Clearly, this wasn’t someone to be trifled with.

Raising her eyebrows, Seraphina ran a hand over the folding knife in her pocket before stepping into the guards’ formation. They expertly parted to create a path for her.
