Mr. Sterling, Mrs. Sterling is Multifaceted!
Chapter 149: Don’t Come Over
CHAPTER 149: CHAPTER 149: DON’T COME OVER
"Sylv..."
Caleb Crawford glared at her, his expression unsightly, unable even to utter Seraphina Redgrave’s name.
When Selena Quinn pushed the door open and entered, the entire room fell silent.
She looked around at everyone somewhat confused, her gaze landing on the two people in the center of the room.
Selena approached with a gentle smile and spoke, "Sylvia, you’ve already met the seniors, right? I..."
"Selena, don’t waste your effort."
Caleb sneered, "How could someone as unsullied as Student Shaw be interested in the Elite Society?"
"Hmm?"
Selena was taken aback, noticing the odd expressions on everyone’s faces in the room, momentarily at a loss for words.
"I indeed find the Elite Society quite disgusting, I’m heading out first."
Seraphina directly responded to Caleb’s words.
She wasn’t genuinely intending to connect with the former Elite Society members through Selena today; she had her own plans. Now that she had achieved her goal, she could leave.
After speaking, Seraphina left the room without hesitation.
Leo Lynch watched Seraphina walk away and wanted to follow, but Selena was a step ahead.
"Sylvia... Sylvia..."
Selena coughed while chasing after Seraphina. In just a few steps, she felt like she had run an 800-meter marathon. She grabbed Seraphina’s wrist, her face full of guilt: "I’m sorry, Sylvia, I didn’t expect this to happen. Did they say something offensive to you? I’m apologizing on their behalf."
"Student Quinn, aren’t you being a bit too much of a saint?"
Apologizing on behalf of others too?
Maybe the current situation arose because Selena put herself and those Elite Society people in a room without showing up.
Seraphina looked at Selena but didn’t voice her speculation.
"I just don’t want the Elite Society to lose a talent like you. I have no other concerns." Selena’s face was earnest, "Did they really say something unpleasant to you?"
"What if they did say something? What if they didn’t?"
Seraphina didn’t answer but rather threw the question back to Selena.
"I... I don’t dare to say anything to them." Selena stood there, her expression slightly heroic, "But after the banquet is over, I can keep them here. It would be easier to talk when there are fewer people."
Oh?
Seraphina couldn’t be bothered with her.
"Why aren’t you paying attention to me? Are you upset that I arranged for you to be in that mansion? Do you feel uncomfortable?" Selena’s face was full of self-blame. It seemed like she’d made some kind of decision and said, "I’ll contact Ethan Sterling right away."
"Contact him for what?"
Seraphina didn’t understand Selena’s train of thought.
What does this have to do with Ethan?
"You came to the banquet because of my invitation, so any grievances you suffered here are my fault. Instead of waiting for Brother Ethan to blame me, I’d rather apologize to him myself."
Selena’s attitude was sincere.
"No need."
Seraphina rejected her suggestion without a second thought.
What nonsense? She even wanted to contact Ethan.
But Selena paid no heed to her opinion; she turned and left, arranging for a maid to bring a phone.
Seraphina stood there, instructing the maid to bring over a phone as she walked.
She looked at Selena’s eager figure, tilted her head slightly, as if she had figured something out.
At this moment, inside an apartment in Sovereign’s best area, two men were furiously manipulating the controllers in their hands, staring at the TV screen under dim lighting.
The death screen appeared once more on Nathan Ayers’ side.
Nathan put down the controller, looking painfully at Ethan Sterling.
Was Young Master Sterling here today to let him witness the disparity among humans?
No matter the game, he couldn’t beat him.
So tired, he wanted to rest.
"Again."
Ethan was obviously not tired at all.
Right now, Nathan just wanted to leave this beautiful world but still opened another round.
Both of them once again manipulated their characters, battling on the TV screen.
The phone suddenly started ringing.
Nathan, head spinning, took a glance at the phone: "Young Master Sterling, it’s Miss Quinn’s call."
The people from The Sterling Family couldn’t reach Ethan’s phone, only Nathan’s.
Usually, Ethan couldn’t care less, and Nathan would answer based on his mood.
However... today was the day of the banquet at The Sterling Family’s old house, with Seraphina at The Sterling Family’s old house.
Ethan put his controller down, his gaze deep: "Answer it."
"Alright, Young Master Sterling."
Nathan paused the game, turned on the light, and then answered the call.
The phone was on speaker, and Nathan tried his best to appear sober, ensuring his voice wasn’t tinged with any drunkenness.
"Miss Quinn."
"Special Assistant Ayers, I did something wrong today and wanted to apologize to you." Selena’s voice was soft, and if you listened carefully, there was a sobbing tone.
"Miss Quinn, you’re too serious, please go ahead."
Nathan spoke.
"I invited Sylvia Shaw to the banquet tonight, but I was so busy that I didn’t pay attention to her, and she was verbally humiliated by people." Selena was deeply remorseful, "She is Brother Ethan’s girlfriend, yet I made such a big mistake. I’m truly sorry. Can you help me tell Brother Ethan that it was my fault for not taking care of Sylvia Shaw?"
By the end, Selena was already crying.
Verbally humiliated.
Ethan’s grip on the controller tightened, his expression growing increasingly dark.
Who dared to do such a thing?
Ethan sat in the living room, his face extremely unpleasant.
"Is she okay?"
Nathan was also startled, quickly speaking up.
"Sylvia is fine, but I don’t know if she feels uncomfortable inside." Selena hesitated for a moment on the other end of the phone, then stutteringly asked: "Should Brother Ethan come to pick up Sylvia?"
"Alright, I’ll inform Young Master Sterling."
Nathan hung up the phone, looked at Ethan, and was taken aback by the deep gloom in the man’s eyes. Knowing he was angry, Nathan quickly volunteered, "Young Master Sterling, shall I go check the old house?"
Selena didn’t have much connection with him, but she was always well-behaved, had no evil intentions, and wouldn’t lie.
Now it involved the young lady; if Young Master Sterling doesn’t want to go to the old house, then he should go.
Ethan sat there, neither agreeing to Nathan’s proposal nor refusing it.
Nathan looked at Ethan, unsure what Ethan was thinking.
After a long time, Ethan finally spoke, "I’ll go."
Ethan stood up, grabbed the coat on the sofa, and was about to head out the door.
At that moment, his phone vibrated.
On the screen was a message from Seraphina Redgrave.
"Seraphina Redgrave: No matter what Selena said, don’t come over."
Ethan stopped in his tracks, looking at the message, his gaze growing even darker.
The Sterling Family’s old house, lush with blooming sugar flowers, the guests’ glamorous attire perfectly blended with the mansion’s opulence and splendor.
The maids shuttled back and forth, serving the guests.
The guests mingled with laughs and conversations over drinks.
Chloe Quinn and Ryan Sterling stepped into the main hall with the rhythm of classical music. Chloe wore a beautiful light gold gown, while Ryan wore a black custom-tailored suit.
Though Ryan was already getting on in years, with his sharp features, you could still see traces of Ethan Sterling in a glance.
He stood on a platform, smiling at the guests, with none of the ruthlessness from the day he said he would kill Ethan on the rooftop.
A fake smile mask worn for too long increasingly melded with its owner.
