Mr. Sterling, Mrs. Sterling is Multifaceted!
Chapter 153: Standing Up for Someone
CHAPTER 153: CHAPTER 153: STANDING UP FOR SOMEONE
Selena Quinn stood in place, her exquisite face no longer wearing her usual gentle and composed smile, but her lips were tightly pressed.
Caleb Crawford walked to Selena’s side, looking at Seraphina Redgrave who was still on stage, his expression dark: "Your brother wouldn’t really like her, would he?"
Today, they had thoroughly made an enemy of Seraphina. If she got close to Ethan Sterling, she would soar straight into the clouds.
If she came back later to seek revenge for today, they would really be at a loss for what to do.
Hearing this, Selena smiled elegantly: "I’ve long heard that Sylvia Shaw is quite impressive. Despite not coming from a prestigious family, she excels at everything, her studies are great, and she dances well. It’s like there’s nothing she can’t do. Isn’t it normal for my brother to like her?"
She was praising Seraphina again.
No one seemed to know what was so special about this Seraphina Redgrave.
The more someone praised her, the more Caleb resented Seraphina.
A waiter passed by him with an empty goblet, and recalling Selena’s words, Caleb suddenly let out a cold laugh.
There’s nothing she can’t do? That’s not necessarily true.
A poor wretch emerging from who knows where has plenty of things they can’t do.
Today, he was determined to see Seraphina humiliated, preventing her from catching Ethan’s eye.
After the opening dance ended, no one paid any more attention to Chloe Quinn and Ryan Sterling.
All the CEOs gathered around Ethan Sterling, eager to butter him up, fearing their words would be stolen if they were late.
Seraphina glanced at Ethan, ignoring the guests swarming towards him, and turned to leave.
Just as she left the crowd, Selena walked over with a smile to praise her: "Sylvia, you’re amazing."
"Really? I’m heading home first."
Seraphina showed no sign of happiness.
"Come on, I’ve prepared a dinner in the side hall, have a bite before you go."
As she spoke, she forcibly pulled her, taking her to the side hall.
Just as Seraphina was about to retract her hand, she saw the left door being opened by a waiter, revealing an extremely luxurious side hall under the splendid lights, with all the guests invited by Selena seated at the table, including members of the Elite Society and Serena Lowell’s group, and even Leo Lynch.
But what puzzled Seraphina most was that the person at the head of the dining table was Ethan Sterling.
Selena could actually get Ethan to come to her banquet table.
Ethan sat with his back to her, his coat already removed, sitting there leisurely, his facial expression indistinguishable, exuding an air of nonchalance.
Originally, Seraphina intended to leave, but seeing Ethan at the table made her realize she couldn’t go.
If she left now, tonight and tomorrow would be ruined.
"Sylvia, have a seat."
Selena smiled gently, guiding Seraphina to sit in the seat to Ethan’s left.
Seraphina cast a glance at Ethan, who didn’t even spare her a look, his long fingers tapping idly on the table, his whole being exuding a chilly aura.
Sitting there, he appeared as though he held dominion over the entire world.
With such a prominent figure at the table, no one dared to speak.
Seraphina sat down, discovering that to her left was Leo Lynch.
Leo, seated in place, glanced at Seraphina, then at Ethan, saying nothing and pretending as if he knew nothing.
Seraphina surveyed the scene, noticing that those Elite Society seniors were seated lower than her. Selena truly overestimated her.
"I’m very happy today, Brother Ethan is here, and my friends are here too. Let me propose a toast to everyone,"
Selena stood up, raising her champagne to the people around.
Waiters immediately stepped forward to pour wine for the guests.
Everyone raised their glasses, Serena and several other girls even stood up.
A girl next to Serena coughed lightly, nudging her to look at Seraphina.
Confusion flickered in Serena’s eyes.
"Look at her wine glass,"
The girl whispered.
Serena looked over and realized the waiter behind Seraphina had, for some reason, poured the champagne into a glass that was very similar, but not quite the same, as a proper champagne glass.
The etiquette of wine glasses is something these second-generation wealthy individuals needed to learn from a young age, as there are big differences in which wine goes with which glass.
Serena looked at the glass in front of Seraphina and then at the one in her own hand, breaking out in a cold sweat instantly. Her family background was average, and she never learned about these. Fortunately, the waiter behind her hadn’t made a mistake.
Without this mistake, if Seraphina were to lift her glass, it would be utterly disgraceful. Never mind Ethan, anyone witnessing it would look down on Seraphina.
Everyone except Seraphina and Ethan raised the champagne in front of them.
No one dared say a word against Ethan, but Caleb, from his seat, remarked sarcastically: "Student Shaw is truly proud; Selena offers a toast and you don’t even touch your glass?"
Caleb was waiting for Seraphina to lift her glass.
Ethan, seated there, directed his gaze at the incorrectly poured glass in front of Seraphina, a touch of icy amusement in his eyes, not uttering a warning.
Seraphina, sitting there, her gaze swept across the row of glasses before her, reaching out to take one.
Seeing this, Leo immediately lifted his hand to stop her.
In that instant, Seraphina sensed Ethan’s murderous gaze towards her. She deftly retracted her hand, dodging Leo’s, then looked at Caleb: "Vice President Crawford is quite something, tell me, how much did you pay the waiter to do this for you?"
Her gaze was indifferent.
Caleb’s face turned pale, avoiding her eyes: "What nonsense are you spouting?"
Seraphina didn’t respond, as this lowly tactic was something she couldn’t be bothered with.
She indeed didn’t understand the wine glass etiquette, but when the waiter was pouring wine, she had already noticed her glass was different from the others.
Without her doing anything, Caleb jumped out himself, saving her the trouble of figuring out who was behind it.
Seraphina didn’t want to deal with him, thinking it was just a glass. In her view, it was drinking regardless, learning a bit of etiquette made them think they were high society? How amusing.
Is that it?
She’s not pursuing it?
Ethan remained seated, his expression turning ugly.
"Clang!"
A crisp crash resounded; everyone turned to see it was Ethan who smashed the glass in his hand.
The glass shattered into pieces on the ground.
The entire banquet hall was stunned.
Selena stood in her spot, slightly dumbfounded looking at Ethan, while Serena and the others nearly dropped their glasses.
Seraphina glanced to the left, seeing Ethan looking past her, his eyes coldly directed at the waiter behind her, speaking word by word: "Did you not hear the question? Let me repeat, how much were you paid to do his bidding?"
Seraphina looked at Ethan, disbelief filling her eyes.
He had clearly seen it earlier but didn’t speak up; she thought Ethan was still angry about what she said while dancing, yet he stood up for her?
Watching Ethan thoroughly angered, the waiter turned pale with fright, trembling so much he could barely stand: "Y-Young Master Sterling...I..."
