CHAPTER 135: I’M ALWAYS GOOD

Margaret widened her eyes in surprise. She didn’t expect Bruce would say these words. He looked heartless.

Hilla coughed embarrassedly and said in a low voice, "He is only teasing. You are his only sister."

Margaret nodded, but then she thought of something and pouted. "It’s true that I’m his biological sister, but he loves his wife more than me. He doesn’t care about me. I’m going to cut him off now!"

Feeling wronged, Margaret sniffed and ran out. Hilla quickly turned off her phone and hurried to catch up with her.

Seeing this, Halle couldn’t help but smile. She knew Margaret had her purpose, but Hilla seemed unaware of the situation.

"Calm down. You don’t have to listen to Bruce."

"He is my blood brother. How could he say insulting words to me? I don’t think he is a good brother."

"Why do you think so?"

Margaret pouted and whispered, "Why do you have more pocket money than me? It’s unfair. Bruce doesn’t care about me. He only dotes on you. He’s so bad."

After Margaret finished speaking, Hilla pursed her lips, "We can have a change of our pocket money. Now, stop being angry with Bruce."

Margaret smiled and then pretended to wear a long face, saying reluctantly, "Alright, I can forgive him."

Hilla quickly nodded. She wanted Margaret to be happy because it was Bruce who did wrong. She didn’t want the relationship between Bruce and Margaret to get ruined.

Therefore, Hilla agreed to whatever Margaret had asked. Hilla was never obedient to someone, but now she did that to her sister-in-law.

After that, Hilla heaved a sigh of relief and brought Margaret back.

Halle was barely awake on the bed when they returned. She looked at them listlessly.

"Hilla, did we wake you up?"

Margaret also came over and said, "Halle, that’s not my intention. It was Hilla who asked me to chat with her in the courtyard."

Hearing that, Hilla felt sorry for her pocket money.

Halle waved at them and said in a low voice with her eyes closed, "Come to bed. It’s late."

Then the two of them quickly climb into bed quietly. With the lights off, the room was exceptionally dark. Only faint moonlight could be seen through the thin curtain.

"Hilla, I can’t sleep. I’m a little scared."

Margaret arrived here yesterday, and she received a marriage proposal. Therefore, she was afraid that she would have to go on numerous blind dates. It terrified her.

Hilla muttered without lifting her eyelids. "Sometimes, people in the countryside are overzealous. Never mind. They mean well."

Margaret was stunned.

She trembled in fear and held the quilt tightly in her arms. She quickly crawled into Hilla’s arms and asked, "What do you mean? Hilla, I can give you back your pocket money if you can help me."

Margaret valued her life more than money.

Margaret lowered her head and muttered under the blanket, "Hilla is more beautiful than me. Single men here should like her more than me."

Hilla wanted to ignore Margaret because she was so tired that she only wanted to sleep now.

However, Margaret kept speaking. Hilla was not a quiet woman, but she had never met such a chatterbox like Margaret.

Hilla became sober, but she didn’t open her eyes immediately. Instead, she replied after Margaret finished, "But I’m married and you’re still single."

Margaret thought, "I need a boyfriend now!"

Early the next morning, Cookie and Candy in the courtyard made noises.

Hilla rubbed her eyes and saw Bruce beside her bed. Bruce smiled at her lovingly.

He said in a gentle voice, "Hilla, it’s time to get up now."

Hilla blinked her eyes. She was completely sober when she saw Bruce.

She smiled at him sweetly and threw herself into Bruce’s embrace. She leaned her head upon his shoulder and screamed excitedly, "Bruce, are you here to pick me up? I missed you so much!"

Margaret was awakened by Hilla’s voice.

Margaret poked her head out and saw Bruce. She said irritably, "Bruce, I’m sleeping now! How can you awake me like that? I need rest now."

She didn’t sleep well last night, so she wanted to catch up on some sleep today.

Then she continued to sleep. Suddenly, she thought of something and opened her eyes. She tightened the quilt and pointed at Bruce, shouting, "Bruce, how can you enter a girl’s bedroom without permission? Even if Hilla is your wife and I am your sister, you shouldn’t do that. After all, Halle is here too..."

Halle had got up early. When Bruce arrived here, she opened the door for him.

Margaret puffed up her cheeks, then covered herself with the quilt and said angrily, "How shameless!"

Of course, she didn’t dare to say that out loud. At the same time, Bruce said to Hilla, "Pack your things. We’re going home. I miss you."

Margaret couldn’t stand Bruce’s sappy words.

She shrank her body and thought, My future boyfriend will be gentler than Bruce.

He will also say sweet words to me.

We’re going to travel around the world and show our love to everyone.

Bruce’s only purpose was to take Hilla away, so he didn’t plan to stay long here. He wanted to bring Hilla back home after breakfast.

Hilla told Margaret a lot of things. However, Margaret grumbled, "I know you want to go home and make a baby. How could you just leave me alone here? Alright, I see it. I’m just an eyesore."

What Margaret had said blushed Hilla and she looked at Bruce awkwardly.

She had wanted to say something to comfort Margaret, but Bruce stepped on the accelerator and was about to go.

Before leaving, Bruce said indifferently, "It’s good that you know that you are an eyesore!"

Margaret was surprised to hear that.

...

Halle stepped forward to comfort Margaret. "Don’t be angry. Your future boyfriend will love you as much as Bruce loves Hilla."

"I don’t believe it. Bruce almost forgets his own sister. He loves Hilla so much."

Halle was stunned. She raised her eyebrows and said awkwardly, "Calm down."

"I can’t stay calm. Bruce is a weirdo. After his marriage, he treated his family like strangers. He got married in his thirties. I guess he’s afraid that Hilla will leave him because of his old age."

"I don’t want a man in his thirties to be my boyfriend."

Halle didn’t know what to say. She kept silent and turned to leave.

Fate was mysterious. One could never know who his future spouse was at the beginning.

One would not care about the identity, age, and family background of the one he liked.

Hilla and Bruce went back to the Lakeshore Center. After they entered the room, Bruce cornered Hilla to the wall.

Hilla blushed instantly. She could have got away, but she chose to keep still.

Bruce kissed her passionately before she could react. He seemed to express his love by the kiss.

It was a long and deep kiss.

Bruce was domineering, wild, and enthusiastic now, which amazed Hilla. She had no time to react.

After a long while, Hilla pushed away Bruce in panic.

"It’s still the middle of the day!"

Hilla said in an extremely low voice. She was embarrassed and bashful.

She couldn’t steady herself. If Bruce let go of her, she would have fallen on the ground right away.

What Bruce had done was the same as what male characters did in romantic stories.

When she read those stories, her face was red and her heart was beating fast, but now, she felt even more excited.

Bruce looked at Hilla in front of him. He lowered his head and whispered in a charming voice, "Will you say yes at night?"

Bruce’s words had a seductive quality.

Hilla felt panicked. She didn’t know what to do.

Bruce was not who she thought he was. It seemed that she had only seen some parts of Bruce.

Bruce stared at Hilla who was in his arms, his eyes filled with seriousness and fear.

He wondered if Hilla would agree about it.

He had never been so nervous before. He was always confident, but now his hands and feet went cold with fear.

"Aren’t you ready for it?"

Bruce was shaking with nerves when he asked this question.

Hilla lowered her head and didn’t speak, her lips pressed tightly together.

She wanted to say yes, but she was having her period now. She had just been in the countryside for one day.

She was in her period, so she couldn’t say yes to him.

Hilla nodded, and then shook her head.

What should I do? Shall I ask Halle for some suggestions now?

Would she tease me?

But I really didn’t know what to do.

Bruce was a decisive man, and Hilla was also straightforward. However, they both were exceptionally nervous now.

Bruce didn’t want to be rude to Hilla. After all, Hilla was still a young girl.

He was sure that Hilla would get mad at him if he compelled her.

Even if he had expressed his thoughts many times, Hilla always refused him.

Hilla looked confused. Bruce sighed and said in a soft voice, "Never mind. I can wait till you agree."

Orlenna wanted them to have a baby this year. However, it seemed difficult to achieve that.

Although Bruce and Hilla were married, he couldn’t force her to do what she disliked.

Bruce didn’t want her to misunderstand him. He loved her, so he wanted to make love with her.

"Alright, go upstairs and change your clothes. My grandfather and mother want to see you. Let’s eat over there today."

Bruce’s words of comfort only made Hilla feel sorry.

Although she was a brave woman, she felt ashamed about such kind of thing. She could only nod helplessly and go upstairs.

Bruce stared at her back and frowned.

Is there something wrong? Why did Hilla refuse me?

Did I miss the point?

Should I discuss this with Horton?

Halle soon received Hilla’s message and then her video call.

Hilla looked depressed, her face red with embarrassment. As soon as Halle opened her mouth, Hilla burst into tears.

"Halle, what should I do? Bruce wants to sleep with me, but I’m having my period. He’s so disappointed!"

Halle was stunned. She was uncertain whether Bruce was disappointed or not, but she knew Hilla was very sad now.

She had thought that Hilla and Bruce had a quarrel, so she was terrified when receiving the video call.

"Alright, Hilla, stop crying. This is not your fault."

"But my period is usually a week. What should I do? Bruce is too pitiful."

Hilla cried with grievance after saying that, which stunned Halle.

Halle thought that Hilla was even more pitiful than Bruce.

"Hilla, don’t cry. It’s not good to be emotional during the period."

"I’m ready to have sex with him and I want to say yes. However, my period doesn’t allow me to do so."

Moreover, her period was long. Hilla was afraid that Bruce would not have the patience to wait for the right time.

"Alright, this isn’t a big deal. Bruce likes you so much, so I believe that he can wait. You have been married for more than half a year. If he is an impatient man, you may have been pregnant now."

Gradually, Hilla calmed down and hung up the phone happily. She was ready to have dinner with Orlenna.

After Halle hung up, Margaret looked at her with a treacherous smile.

"Just now, Bruce took Hilla home, but he couldn’t do anything he wanted. He doesn’t treat me like his sister and now he gets his punishment."

"Bruce must be annoyed. Then I’m in a good mood now. Halle, let’s have a barbecue tonight!"

Margaret was pleased now and she wanted to eat delicious food.

"Those who treat me badly must be punished by God!"

...

In the Anderson’s.

A black Rover slowly drove into the gate. As soon as the car stopped, William greeted them.

"Hello, Mr. and Mrs. Anderson!"

After that, William asked a servant to park the car, and then he led Bruce and Hilla to the main building.

"We haven’t come here for so long. Will your grandfather and mother be angry with us?"

For fear that Orlenna would dislike the gift she had bought, Hilla subconsciously grabbed Bruce’s hand.

In the past, although Hilla was always polite to Orlenna, she did not care whether she liked her or not. At that time, Bruce was in a coma. After all, in the Anderson family, Orlenna was the only one she could rely on.

They had to help each other to gain a foothold in the Anderson family.

How time flew! Hilla didn’t expect the agreement that they had made at that time would become a bridge to build their relationship.

Gradually, she liked the Anderson family. She was no longer the innocent girl who just wanted to find her a shelter.

She fell in love with Bruce and was happy to be his wife.

She sincerely wanted to become a part of his family and stay with Bruce forever.

"Don’t worry. It’s not the first time you’ve seen my mother. She won’t ask me to divorce you."

A glimmer of amusement showed in Bruce’s eyes. Knowing it was a tease, Hilla was relieved and rolled her eyes. "Will you do what your mother asks you to do? I don’t think so. I hadn’t realized that you are such a good son."

Bruce nodded. "I’m always good!"

Hilla thought, "Bruce, aren’t you ashamed of what you said?"

"Okay, if your mother asks you to divorce me, do it. Anyway, I won’t lose anything if I leave you. I’m still young and I can remarry a man two years later."

Bruce thought, "See what will happen if you dare to do so."

"I will never divorce you. All the Andersons have one and only marriage. I’m afraid you will be my wife all your life."

Therefore, most of the Andersons got married quite late. In their opinion, marriage was not for fun. They never marry someone they didn’t like.

After all, it would be a disaster for both sides.

"I don’t care about the tradition of your family. I can decide on my fate. Don’t forget, our marriage isn’t consummated yet!"

In the lead was William, he staggered when hearing what Bruce and Hilla had said. He thought, "Now I know Bruce’s secret. Am I safe now?"

Bruce’s face suddenly darkened. He wondered, Was it the reason why she didn’t want to sleep with me?

How could she have the intention of divorcing and leaving me?

It seems that I should consummate our marriage as soon as possible.

Hilla felt satisfied that she win the argument with Bruce. She was a Holt and was also proud of her family. Even though she loved Bruce, she wanted to maintain her dignity in front of him.

Although it was difficult and tiring to make it, Hilla didn’t regret her decision.

Orlenna asked the servants to prepare numerous dishes as soon as Bruce had told her that they would come home.

While Orlenna was drinking tea with Tyree, William said from behind, "Master Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Anderson are back."

"Is life in the countryside comfortable? You look dark and thin."

As soon as Orlenna saw Hilla, she pulled her to her side and looked at Hilla up and down.

Hilla said in embarrassment, "Mother, I just spent a day in the countryside. Nothing has changed."

"I haven’t seen you for half a month. Did Bruce take good care of you? You young people often pay less attention to your health."

Orlenna didn’t believe Bruce would be a considerate man. Bruce was a successful businessman, but he might not know how to take care of his wife.

"Mother, Bruce treats me very well. He hired a cook for me."

"Alright, they’re adults and they can take care of themselves."

Tyree interrupted Orlenna. He seemed to be dissatisfied with Orlenna’s words.

Tyree knew it was not easy to imprison Hilla in the Anderson’s now.

Orlenna didn’t continue to speak. She looked at Hilla’s flat belly and sighed slightly.

She hoped for a grandson eagerly, but she couldn’t do anything but wait.

After dinner, Hilla went to the East Courtyard to pack some things up. Orlenna said to Bruce secretly, "What’s the matter? Why doesn’t Hilla get pregnant? Hilla is so pretty, so I don’t understand why you haven’t slept with her yet. What’s wrong with you?"

Orlenna had been restraining herself from making a complaint in front of Tyree and Hilla. Now she needed to get this off her chest.

She had hidden her feelings and kept quiet just now because she didn’t want Bruce to feel embarrassed.

Bruce’s brow was knitted as he wondered why so many people knew about his situation. He thought it was a disgrace.

"Mom, Hilla is young."

"Are you kidding me? You should make Hilla be your real wife as soon as possible because no one knows what will happen. I don’t want you to be regretful."

Orlenna glared at Bruce and went back to her bedroom.

Only Bruce was left in the living room. He frowned and stood in deep thought. After a while, he took out his phone and sent a message to Horton.

"Let’s have a meeting tomorrow!"

Soon, Bruce received three question marks from Horton.

Hilla packed up some clothes, as well as several objects and drawings, and then she went back to Lakeshore Center with Bruce.

Even though she had only lived here for a few days, Hilla felt at ease as soon as she returned. This house gave her a sense of belonging.

Hilla was surprised to find that she preferred this house to the Anderson’s.

She had lived in the Anderson’s for a longer time, but she felt more comfortable here.

As Bruce came out of the bathroom, Hilla was thinking that there were only the two of them in this house tonight and they wouldn’t be watched by others.

Hilla’s face turned red as she saw Bruce. She covered her face with the quilt and cast a sidelong glance at him.

She saw Bruce walking to the bedside and then getting on the bed.

Bruce’s approach keyed Hilla up. When Bruce touched her, she poked her head out of the quilt and covered her eyes with her hands.

"Stop it! Do not try to seduce me. Today it’s not the right time."

After all, it was Hilla’s time of the month.
