Mr. Tycoon's Beloved Wife: The Madam No One Dares to Offend
Chapter 139: I Want To Be Better
CHAPTER 139: I WANT TO BE BETTER
Margaret saw Hilla’s gloomy face, and she couldn’t help but asked, "Hilla, you don’t want me to come back?"
Hilla really didn’t want her to come back.
"Come on. You don’t want me to come back?" Seeing Hilla’s expression, Margaret screamed in disbelief.
She clung to the sofa and looked at Hilla in resentment.
"Hilla, you really disappoint me. You changed your personality for my brother. How can you choose a man over your friend?"
Margaret pursed her lips and snorted, "I thought you were better than that..."
Hilla hugged Margaret from behind and whispered, "You will have bad luck if you break a couple’s relationship."
"Hilla, you... you cursed me so that you can make out with my brother?" She didn’t expect Hilla to be like that. She couldn’t even look at her straight.
She used to be so cool and decisive, how could she change so much because of a man?
Even though the man was her brother, she still couldn’t take it. "What are you talking about? We have no plan to get a baby yet."
Hilla lowered her head and said in a low voice with a blushed face. Margaret got so frustrated seeing how shy Hilla became.
Margaret thought to herself, "Look at yourself. I would be a fool if I believe you."
"Then why did you try to send me away? Even if you didn’t want a baby, you were on the way to making a baby. Don’t assume that I don’t know what you guys wanted to do."
Margaret gritted her teeth. She seemed so sure of herself, and Hilla felt guilty about it.
"Your brother and I are legal husband and wife. It’s normal for us to do that thing." Hilla whispered as she gently pulled the corner of her clothes.
Margaret rolled her eyes in disdain, "Do you think I’m stupid? Nobody is innocent when the door is closed. You guys wanted to do weird things and you didn’t want me around."
"So you know it’s awkward for you to be here."
Hilla cleared her throat and turned her head away.
Sure enough, Margaret seemed hurt when she heard Hilla’s words. She frowned and
stared at her fiercely, "I know you don’t want me here, but I’m staying here no matter what. Don’t think I don’t know it, your period is gone and my brother will definitely come back tonight."
Hilla’s straightened her back and asked in a daze, "I couldn’t believe you just said that. You are turning into a pervert! Could it be that you haven’t had a boyfriend for too long?"
"You are the pervert. Halle told me that your period is seven days, and I’ve been counting for you."
Margaret smiled maliciously.
Hilla couldn’t help but shiver.
Margaret even calculated her period. Hilla felt like she had no privacy. She wanted to throw Margaret off the window right now.
Why doesn’t she go to hell!
"My sister told you that? What did you do to my sister?"
"I took very good care of Halle. I did even more to her than I did to my brother. Don’t try to break our relationship."
Margaret looked so proud that it seemed like she already forgot Hilla and Halle were the real sisters.
"Is there something you needed to do?"
Hilla got a feeling in her heart.
Margaret did not dare to provoke Bruce before, and she was happy to see them get intimate. But now she came back at such an inconvenient time.
It was weird enough that she came back right in time, and she even showed "hostility" towards Bruce. Hilla felt that she was going too far and she couldn’t wait to see Bruce take her down.
"What else do I need to do? I just came back to do some research and prepare for the graduation thesis."
Margaret looked so unsure about herself. She met Hilla’s gaze and silently turned her head to the side, "My brother did a really good job on his thesis. You don’t know but all the professors in the past treated him..."
"You couldn’t write a graduation thesis, am I right?"
Hilla exposed Margaret’s intention completely.
She really overestimated Margaret. She wouldn’t dare coming back if it weren’t for something specific.
Sure enough, Margaret said in a low voice, "It’s not all about the thesis."
Hilla glanced at her in disdain. She knew Margaret was up to something, but she
didn’t expect it to be something trivial like a thesis.
"Oh, that’s alright. You can tell him what you need when your brother comes back."
Hilla was relieved. She sat back on the sofa calmly.
She looked so much more confident than before.
In the president’s office of the Anderson Group.
"Mr. Anderson, should we inform Mrs. Anderson about the charity gala tonight?"
They had to bring a date to the gala. James was thinking about arranging an assistant to go with Bruce, but he better left the sensitive matter to the president himself.
He didn’t want to cause himself trouble unknowingly.
"Cancel it for me!"
Bruce replied without looking up. Then he glanced at the time on the computer.
It was almost time to get off work.
"President, Mr. Richards just called you about the power station project in Africa. It wouldn’t be polite if we don’t go tonight."
Moreover, all the aristocratic families would be there tonight, wouldn’t others assume that the Anderson family had been isolated?
"Cancel it!" Bruce didn’t hesitate, but James was not so sure about it.
However, before he could finish speaking, he saw Bruce signed the last document and got up.
"Mr. Anderson."
"You are off."
What?
James couldn’t believe his ear. He looked in a daze as Bruce took his coat and left the office.
Their president asked them to get off work, and it was ten minutes before the schedule!
This had never happened before.
After following Bruce for so many years, James had always thought that his boss was strict, reserved, and calm.
He had never slacked off at work. But today, the president was so eager to get off work, and he even saw a faint smile on his face.
Was he going blind?
Bruce had already disappeared into the elevator before James came back to his senses.
What was going on? What was it that has so much charm to make their president lose focus?
Hilla was watching TV with Margaret at home, and not long after, she heard the door open.
Her heart skipped a beat. When her gaze fell on the man at the door, she couldn’t help but blush again.
Margaret also looked over. But when Bruce’s gaze fell on her, she got extremely nervous.
Her brother looked so gloomy!
...
Hilla looked at Bruce at the door, her eyes unconsciously flashing.
However, Margaret was still aside. Thinking of this, Hilla calmed down and said to Bruce, "You’re back."
She stepped closer to take the jacket that Bruce had taken off and whispered, "The housework servant didn’t come today. How about we eat out today?"
They were going on dating for just themselves originally. Bruce said that he wanted a candlelight dinner when he left in the morning. So Hilla deliberately gave the housework servant a day off. Sometimes things just went contrary to the wishes!
Margaret had just broken all their fantasies.
"Why are you here?"
Bruce sat down on the sofa opposite Margaret head-on with a glance of Margaret’s guilty face.
Margaret couldn’t help but shrunk her neck in fear when she came up with Bruce’s handsome but cold face.
It was one thing to think about it, but it was another thing to face this guy in reality.
Especially when his expression was like he wanted to kill her or something. Seeing this, Margaret swallowed her saliva with difficulty and giggled.
"Bruce, you came back early today!"
"Why are you here?"
Ignoring her words, Bruce poured himself a glass of water, "Go back to the mansion before I get angry."
"I have called Mom. She asked me to stay here. You said that I must graduate this year, didn’t you? I need to submit the graduation paper next month. Your place is close to the university and Hilla and I can go together!"
Margaret guiltily looked away as she was scared that Bruce would get her killed.
She had planned to vent her dissatisfaction on Bruce. But Bruce’s gaze was just so scary that she dared not to say a thing.
"Go to the hotel. Don’t make me repeat."
"Bruce, I’m your sister! It’s so late at night. Do you want me to stay in the hotel alone? It will be too late for you to regret if anything happens. Aren’t you worried about me?"
Not expecting that Bruce would say that, Margaret was upset.
It was said that a man would forget his mother after marrying a wife. She was even less important!
What a brother!
Margaret blinked her eyes and grumbled, "I came back because I wanted to better! You used to say that I was disappointing, but now I want to work hard. Why did you treat me like this? You and Hilla don’t even care whether I am hungry or not."
The more she thought about it, the more she felt wronged. At this time, tears ran down her face.
"Bruce, you used to care about me the most. Although I don’t like the major that you chose for me in university, I know that you are doing this for my own good. I am learning hard! You can’t blame me for failing to graduate. I am not as smart as you are. I tried! It’s hard to get enough credits!
"I am putting in 100% effort this time. And you are kicking me out! Being so unwelcoming, I should have stayed in the countryside! Nobody cares about me!"
Bruce frowned as he saw Margaret crying in front of him. The ruse of self-injury was so clumsy, but he found that he just failed to refute.
He could have kicked her out, but now that she was crying, he didn’t do that. "The conditions!"
Bruce calmly split out these two words. To him, Margaret’s "miserable treatment" was nothing to care about.
Margaret sniffled and pouted innocently, "Bruce, what are you talking about?"
What kind of person she was in his eyes? She was not the kind of girl who would profit at his expense!
All she did was for her studies. She wanted to work hard now.
"Pocket money for three months and the hotel fee will be mine."
Didn’t even see Margaret’s exaggerated expression, Bruce spoke coolly.
Then he quickly finished the cup of water in front of him.
He hadn’t been in the mood of working all day since he wanted to get back early. He was a little thirsty now.
"Bruce, what kind of person do you think I am? I used to be disappointing. And I even asked you for pocket money every month. That was because Mom was too strict! She had taken away all the shares in my hands.
"Actually, I’m not that poor. You are giving me so much pocket money. Is it a little bit insulting?"
Margaret puffed up her little face, looking righteous and dissatisfied with what Bruce had done.
"Pocket money for half a year!"
Bruce continued. His words made Margaret unconsciously stood up from the sofa.
But soon she quickly sat down and hugged her bag.
Her face was flushed with anger, "Bruce, how can you do this? You are hurting my integrity for the sake of your own happiness! I am ambitious now! I just want to finish my studies."
Look! What an upright and aspirant girl she was! Money could only buy those soulless shells but not real life!
"Pocket money for the whole year and you don’t have to attend classes. I will make arrangements for the paper."
Bruce didn’t even raise his head. Hearing this, Margaret was so astonished that she found her righteous indignation lost and thus said in a low voice, "I am going to graduate soon."
"You can find a place to intern at any time, or come to the Anderson Group."
Bruce lifted his eyes with a half-smile when his gaze fell on Margaret’s face, and his lips were slightly curled into a faint smile.
"The Andersons learn to live on our own. I can find a place for my internship. I don’t want to trouble you." Margaret quickly shook her head.
After Margaret finished speaking, the pillow in her arms was immediately thrown away. She continued seriously as she quickly got up and pulled up her luggage, "Well, you do care about me, Bruce! I can feel it now. But the bed here is too hard and it really affects my rest. I prefer the luxury suite of the five-star hotels."
"By the way, I will report back to Mom. Don’t worry, Bruce. Let me know if you need any help."
After all, he was rich no matter what.
As for her words about competing with him for the property of the Anderson family? Well, they were all biological siblings. She didn’t see the money so important that she would not haggle over every ounce with Bruce.
Margaret hurried towards the door in a good mood with her suitcase.
At the time she opened the door, her voice came up again, "Bruce, just transfer a year’s pocket money directly to the card you gave me last time. Things are easier that way!"
It was too troublesome to get her a new card.
"It’s getting late. I’ll eat outside. Go ahead and do your thing. I am an adult. You don’t have to worry about me."
After Margaret finished speaking, she slowly retreated out of the room under Bruce’s cynical gaze.
The next second, a series of strange laughter rang out in the corridor.
It was just a little quirky and scary.
