CHAPTER 16: WILL BRUCE ANDERSON REALLY WAKE UP?

The two sisters conversed through most of the night but eventually, Hilla fell asleep.

Halle looked at the sleeping Hilla, and a faint smile formed on her lips. Perhaps Hilla did not realize it herself but for the entire night, Hilla had spoken more of how the Andersons and Bruce Anderson were nice to her than of how much she suffered after the fall of the Holt family.

But she did not think that a person who laid in bed and could not even blink would be good.

Perhaps Hilla kept the kindness of the Andersons in her heart.

Halle looked at the thick curtains in front of her, and she could not see the moonlight outside. But she knew that it was the fifteenth day of the month. The moon must definitely be round and beautiful tonight.

"Mother, what are you doing?"

Hilla looked into Orlenna’s eyes when she presented Hilla with a sandalwood box.

Subconsciously, she wanted to refuse accepting it.

She was not a person who was insatiable. She had already been given plenty during the days she stayed there.

"Take it. Master Anderson instructed me to give it to you. These are your grandmother-in-law’s belongings. If you or your elder sister need it, feel free to use anything inside."

Orlenna gave Hilla the sandalwood box right in front of Halle.

She was just delivering the box. What Hilla did with the box and its contents was to her own discretion. Even if Orlenna was her mother-in-law, she had no power to make the decisions for Hilla.

"What are you saying...? Mother, I can’t take these! I’ve been nothing but happy living here!"

Hilla told nothing but the truth. Orlenna had never given Hilla the feeling like she was living like a parasite attached to Orlenna. She also did not give Hilla the feeling that she was Bruce Anderson’s maid after he married her. In fact, Hilla could see the authenticity of Orlenna’s respect and trust.

"Since Master Anderson gave you the box, it’s yours. If you can’t accept it, you would have to return it to him yourself."

Orlenna turned to Halle and smiled before gently saying, "Have you had a good night’s rest? Is there anything that you found uncomfortable?"

Both Hilla and Halle Holt were outstandingly beautiful. Halle Holt had a gentle personality, was highly cultured, and looked like an educated girl from a reputable family, but the days she spent with the Tysons made her look as if she was no longer alive.

Halle still looked tired, as if the fatigue from last night had not completely disappeared. She knew by just looking at her that Halle had not slept the night before. "Thank you, Madam Organa. I had a good rest last night. Last night, Hilla kept talking about how the family and you have been treating her well. I felt... at ease."

It was not that she was worried. Her heart just ached for Hilla because of the suffering she had to go through.

Her little sister was at the age where she was at the prime of her beauty, but she had to stay beside someone like this every day...

Halle pursed her lips and said nothing more. The phone in her pocket suddenly rang.

She took a look at it, and her face instantly turned so pale she looked like a sheet.

Before Hilla said anything, Halle whispered, "Titus wants to divorce me."

So, even if it came to divorce, she did not have the right to be the one initiating it.

She smiled coldly, then put her phone away and turned to Orlenna Organa to speak apologetically, "I’m sorry you had to see such a disgraceful scene. I am indeed going through a tough time, but as long as Hilla is happy, I am happy."

"Hilla is part of the family. It is only natural that the family treats her well. If you don’t mind, I think you will need a lawyer."

Orlenna smiled gently. Every move she made oozed the great upbringing and magnanimity of a daughter from a rich family.

Hilla was delighted. Before Halle could even part her lips, Hilla said happily, "Thank you, Mother!"

That was the first time both mother and daughter -in-law had such a mutual understanding. At that moment, Hilla did not feel a shred of awkwardness and distance between them.

Halle could only give her thanks when she saw this. However, deep down, she felt sadder for Hilla.

Halle saw how Hilla bowed subserviently to the Andersons because of her, and Halle did not wish for her own little sister to live her life and live off of someone else. That was why Halle had to become stronger quicker and get Hilla out of the Anderson family!

...

"This woman doesn’t even know how to give birth, and she wants the Tyson family’s wealth? She must be dreaming."

Spring Watson held the letter from the court and stared at Halle Holt’s name on the letter. She felt so angry that she started laughing.

She could ask for a divorce, but the Tyson family had the final say in it!

"When we allowed the girl to be married into the family, it was because of the Tyson family. If it wasn’t for her persistence in pursuing Titus, would I have agreed to let her join the Tyson family? Now, the Holt family has gone bankrupt, and she wants to divorce us to get the Tyson family’s wealth? Forget it."

"She can’t even give birth, and we’ve already wasted so much of our money just marrying her." Spring Watson’s words were harsh and sharp. Beside her, Titus Tyson frowned a little. He whispered, "Mom, you can’t blame her for not being able to give birth to children."

"If I don’t blame her, who am I supposed to blame? She has no one else to blame for not being able to give birth. Eve is currently pregnant with a member of the Tyson family. Hurry up and divorce Halle so that you can give Eve and her child a status."

When Spring Watson mentioned Halle Holt, her eyes were filled with disgust.

In the past, if not for the fact that the Holt family could give the Tyson family so many benefits, she would not have allowed Halle Holt to stay in her house for so long.

Titus Tyson pursued his lips. In the end, he could not say the words that were at the tip of his tongue. He only said, "Got it."

At the Anderson family’s mansion, Hilla Holt wiped down Bruce Anderson’s body, and with familiar motions, she buttoned up his shirt. Halle Holt watched by the side, and she could not help but frown.

"Will he really wake up?"

She had never seen her younger sister being so capable. The man on the bed did not move in the slightest, and her younger sister was the one in charge of washing and dressing him up.

She would be able to endure such a person for now, but if this went on, Hilla Holt would only find more hardships.

Hilla Holt said nonchalantly, "Doctor Hutt said he might be able to wake up, but I think he’s pretty good like this."

There was an indifferent smile on Hilla Holt’s face when she said this. She looked down and sized up the man in front of her with a serious expression. He looked really obedient, just like a kitten with no fangs.

Aside from his face being slightly paler and thinner, Bruce Anderson actually looked really good. She could admire him at any moment, and she could even vent at him

when she was in a bad mood. The Anderson family gave her money, a car, and even a house. She also did not need to carry out the duties of a wife. There was nothing bad about such a life.

"I know that you pity him, but who would pity you?"

Hilla Holt was good to Bruce Anderson, and in Halle Holt’s eyes, it was because it was her nature to be kind. She pitied Bruce Anderson, which was why she stayed in the Anderson family, but she refused to believe that her younger sister would date a comatose patient. That was just a huge joke.

"Sis, you’ve met the lawyer. When are you going to court?"

Hilla Holt did not want Halle Holt to talk about Bruce Anderson like this. Even if the person in front of her was her sister, she still did not want her to do this.

It was troublesome that Bruce Anderson kept lying in bed, but the Anderson family had never mistreated her before.

Hilla Holt knew that she had married into the family because of the Holt mansion, and it was also because this was a place where she could block off all the rumors. But that did not mean that she was staying here. She had no feelings for this place at all.

When she thought about the divorce, Halle Holt shifted her attention to herself. "I have, but it might be difficult for us to get back what we gave to the Tyson family. But as long as we can get a clean break from the Tyson family, we’ll be able to earn our own money."

Hilla Holt nodded. "No matter what, as long as we can get proof of them transferring our money, the Holt family will have the money to turn the tides."

With money, they could rebuild Holt Corporation.

Halle Holt nodded with bloodshot eyes. "At that time, I’ll definitely get you out of the Anderson family."
