CHAPTER 224: HER TALENT IS OUTSTANDING

Margaret looked at Alan in disbelief. What was he saying? She couldn’t understand. "How could he go on a business trip for a week?"

Margaret raised her voice. She tried to control herself but failed, "Then who can handle my resignation?"

Everyone on the floor heard Margaret’s roar.

The assistants who were on good terms with her couldn’t believe it. The Jorgansen Group was nice. Why did Margaret want to resign? Did she find a sugar daddy?

Alan was shocked by Margaret’s roar. Everyone in the company knew that Margaret flattered Julian so that she became his assistant.

Julian was a man. It was normal for him to like such a beautiful and sunny girl.

However, later they found out that Julian did not like women. He just liked Margaret to flatter him.

"Well, you can only wait for Mr. Jorgansen to come back."

"No, I cannot wait."

Margaret said angrily. She was ready to resign today. Why should she be stopped?

"Then what can you do? No one dares to sign your report since Mr. Jorgansen doesn’t come back."

As expected, Margaret was so angry that her face bulged.

She would never come back to the Jorgansen Group, this dangerous place.

"Anyway, I have to resign today. If Julian doesn’t come back, then I won’t come to work. Let him sign it when he comes back!"

Margaret stuffed the resignation report into Alan’s arms and turned to leave.

Alan wanted to stop her but failed. Margaret left in anger quickly.

Alan sighed and secretly called Julian to tell him about Margaret’s emotion.

Margaret was as docile as a sheep covered in wolf skin before. But now she was like a true wolf.

She went straight back to her apartment, packed up her things, and called for the logistics. Then she bought all the things that Orlenna had told her to buy.

She prepared an empty suitcase and took the train back to River City with her small bag which she managed to ask Orlenna to buy for her this year.

Hilla was carefully sent back to the Lakeshore Center by Orlenna.

Orlenna wanted Hilla to move back to the mansion. But she felt Hilla might be boring

if lived in the mansion. It was not good for Hilla’s health care during gestation. So she let Hilla go back to the Lakeshore Center.

Knowing that she could go home, Hilla felt comfortable.

During the two days in the hospital, Orlenna had been accompanying her from day to night. She feared that Hilla would bump against something and told Hilla some dos and don’ts.

In the beginning, Hilla felt that pregnancy was unreal. After all, she had been looking forward to it for a long time.

Later, she accepted it. She began to pay more and more attention to what Orlenna said.

"Mom, you’re tired in the hospital these days. You should go back and have a good rest."

Hilla thought that she could come back home and live a normal life. Although she was pregnant and she was very careful of the baby in her belly, she felt uncomfortable being served so carefully every day.

She glanced at Bruce, who had been regarded as a thief by Orlenna for these days.

Hilla hadn’t talked with Bruce for several days. Every time she saw Bruce frowned and wanted to say something, she felt distressed.

In the past, either she or he was busy and could not meet each other. Now, they could meet every day, but they could not chat.

Seeing Hilla looking at him with a wronged expression, Bruce was about to walk towards her. But Orlenna pulled him over and reminded him, "Hilla is in the most dangerous status now. Bruce, control yourself."

Bruce felt that he was restrained.

"Mom, we’ve come back home. Besides, the doctor said that I just need to rest and go for a prenatal checkup on time."

Hilla looked at Orlenna. She wanted Orlenna to let go of Bruce. She and Bruce had not touched each other for a few days.

Orlenna seemed to be able to read their thoughts. She looked at Hilla and comforted her, "You are young and easy to impulse. I know you can control yourself but he might not."

Orlenna thought Bruce was like a dog in heat. She had to guard against him.

Bruce frowned. He felt he was cold-shouldered by Orlenna and was speechless.

Hilla had signs of miscarriage since the beginning. He didn’t make her bleed. Why should he be blamed for it? Was it wrong for him to sleep with his wife?

Seeing Orlenna knew her thoughts, Hilla blushed and stopped saying.

She did not have that intention. But she was pregnant so that she wanted to rely on

her husband.

"It’s right to keep him away from you. You and the baby will be safe. It’s too late to regret when things happen."

What else could Hilla say? She was like a lamb in bed.

"But, is it okay for him to sit with me for a while?"

Hilla tried to struggle. Since she knew she was pregnant, she had no chance to share her feelings with Bruce.

She wanted to know how Bruce felt and tell him her feelings.

Orlenna look at Bruce seriously and said, "Don’t let him get close to you. Pay attention to the baby."

Hilla nodded forcefully. Orlenna deserved to be a mother.

She was so nervous about Hilla and even did not guard against Bruce.

Orlenna slowly stood up from the bed next to Hilla. She walked towards Bruce and warned him, "You better restrain yourself. Don’t get close to her, and don’t touch her."

Bruce thought he did restrain himself.

Hilla was his wife. Why did he need other people’s approval?

As soon as he sat on the bed, Hilla held his hand. Her soft hands were warm, instantly teasing Bruce.

He tried to calm down. They looked at each other in affection.

Hilla’s eyes became red. She was about to speak when she heard a loud and cheerful voice from downstairs.

"Hilla, I’m back. I’m here to see you!"

Margaret’s voice passed through the stairs and went straight to the bedroom that was not closed on the second floor. Soon she appeared in front of Hilla.

Bruce, who had been sitting next to Hilla, was forcefully pulled to the corner of the bed by Margaret. His eyes became cold.

...

Seeing Margaret suddenly came back, Hilla recovered from her feelings and asked, "Didn’t you work to improve yourself in Far City? Why are you back?"

Margaret said she went to Far City to learn how to not be a girl who did not rely on her family.

Hilla admired Margaret when she first heard it.

She thought that since Margaret strived to make progress, she should study hard in Pinecastle.

However, after she returned to the country, Margaret didn’t intend to leave Far City. Now she suddenly appeared here. Hilla could only think of one reason, "Are you on a business trip with your boss?"

"What business trip? I’ve resigned."

"Resign? Why?"

Hilla was surprised. Bruce had been chased out by Orlenna who heard what they were talking about.

Hilla had talked with Bruce. She felt sour and didn’t want Bruce to leave.

However, Margaret was about the same age as her. Thus since Margaret came back, she didn’t feel depressed.

Hearing Hilla was curious about her resignation, Margaret said carelessly, "You are pregnant. So I resigned."

"What does it have to do with your resignation?"

Hilla looked at Margaret and felt it was inexplicable. She was pregnant now, so her brain worked slowly. She couldn’t understand Margaret’s meaning.

"You need people to take care of you. I’ll take care of my nephew."

Margaret got close to Hilla and asked, "How does it feel to be pregnant? Does it feel like there’s a ball rolling around in your belly?"

Margaret stared at Hilla’s belly with curiosity.

"Bruce is useful this time. Our Anderson family doesn’t raise him in vain for more than thirty years."

Margaret’s eyes lit up, "I want to hear what the baby is doing inside."

Seeing Margaret put her head on her belly, Hilla was scared and she pushed Margaret away. Her face flushed, "I’ve been pregnant for only a month and have no feelings now. You can’t hear anything."

"I see."

Margaret was disappointed. She sighed slightly, "Bruce is disappointed. It took him

two years to let you be pregnant. He is indeed useless."

Hilla thought if Bruce heard this, he would probably throw Margaret out of the window.

"I’m also responsible. My health..."

"Don’t explain for him. It’s men who decide pregnancy."

Margaret looked like she knew everything.

Hilla frowned. It seemed to be reasonable but sounded strange.

"Won’t you return to Far City?"

Hilla looked at Margaret and asked. Margaret hadn’t been changed. She always did what she wanted to, like before.

"No. You’re pregnant. Why should I leave?"

She had successfully completed the task of monitoring the home wrecker, although Bruce didn’t ask her to do so. She did it for the Anderson family.

Her undercover work over the past year was successful.

Hilla still didn’t understand what relation between her pregnancy and Margaret’s return to Far City.

"Didn’t you say that you work well in Far City?"

"Yes, it is very good."

But no matter how the job was good, her salary could not compare to the pocket money of the daughter of the Anderson family.

The company was good, but she had to make more money. "Didn’t you say you have learned a lot of things in that company?" "Yes. I have finished learning all of them!"

Now, she could print, copy, and scan. Julian praised her for having outstanding talent.

"You said there were many promotion changes in the company and you needed to work hard to become an outstanding talent."

Hilla couldn’t stay calm. She looked at Margaret with nervousness.

Margaret smiled at her, "Our family is so rich. It doesn’t matter if I become a talent or not. It is good to become an outstanding talent, but it is most important to come back to take care of my unborn nephew. I have decided that before you give birth, I will live here with mom. I will take care of you. I guarantee that you will enjoy the five-star service every day."

"You will enjoy the service that other pregnant women have or not."

Margaret threw a flirtatious glance at Hilla excitedly, causing Hilla to tremble.

She didn’t want any 24-hour personal service or five-star service. She just wanted to be quiet. Could it be possible?

"By the way, I have checked this on the Internet. You have been pregnant for only a month and you had signs of miscarriage before. Do not let Bruce get close to you."

Bruce was now like the suspect who would murder the baby.

Hilla wanted Bruce to get close with her. But it was impossible.

"I am fine. The doctor asked me to rest for two days. I have been lying in the hospital for several days. I feel good now."

"What are you talking about? You have the next generation of our family. Mom has been looking forward to having a grandson since she gave birth to Bruce. She has been looking forward to her grandson for more than thirty years. You must be careful. Before you give birth, you stay on the bed. If you need anything, call me. I’m on call at all times."

Margaret looked like she was very clever. But Hilla frowned and wanted to cry.

She didn’t need anyone to help her at all.

She sniffled and muffled, "What if I want to go to the toilet? Are you going to do it instead of me?"

"I can’t do this..."

There was something she could not do to help Hilla. But she could not let Orlenna thought she was incompetent. She must contribute to her nephew.

"But I can accompany you. You sit on the toilet, and I will tell a story to the baby."

"I’m good at telling stories. When I was in the second year of elementary school, I won the second prize for the storytelling competition in the city."

She could only take this award to show off in her lifetime.

Hilla felt like vomiting when she heard this. How could Margaret say it so excitedly? Fortunately, Orlenna came in.

When Margaret saw Orlenna, she quickly said, "Mom, I’m chatting with Hilla. I’ve decided to tell a story to my nephew every day and give him antenatal training in advance."

Orlenna was surprised when she heard that. Then, she nodded in agreement, "I know that children nowadays can’t fail at the starting line. I’ll find some world-famous books tomorrow. Don’t tell bad stories."

It would be bad if her grandson heard bad stories.

Hilla wanted to cry. She roared quietly, "Will my baby be a king? There is no need to win in the starting line."
