Mr. Tycoon's Beloved Wife: The Madam No One Dares to Offend
Chapter 227: She Doesn’t Like Me
CHAPTER 227: SHE DOESN’T LIKE ME
When Halle heard Margaret’s words, she laughed, "Margaret, you don’t even know how to design."
Even Halle could not win, and only Hilla’s design could win the championship in the competition.
Halle looked at Hilla and said, "Don’t worry about the competition. Let’s wait and see."
She still felt uneasy. After investigating the Richards Group and Queeney, she always felt that the Richards Group had no reason to interfere in clothing design.
It was the Hutt Group and the Key Group that had always been the two top companies of River City. It was understandable that the Hutt Group wanted to make their brand famous in the competition.
But no matter what, Hilla could not go to River City that was full of trouble.
After Hilla ended the call with Halle, she had been lying in the quilt and preoccupied.
She didn’t have the mood to respond to Margaret.
Being ignored by Hilla, Margaret suddenly felt bored, so she took out her mobile phone and casually scrolled through Twitter.
As she scrolling through it, there was a notification on Line.
It was Alan. He asked her when she would go back to work. She had a salary deduction due to not working this month.
Margaret thought, "I have resigned. I don’t care about the salary and year-end bonus."
Margaret replied with a fierce look: Just deduct my salary as you please. Take it as a relief for the company!
Alan looked at his phone and frowned. He said to Julian who was signing documents, "Mr. Jorgansen, Margaret said she has resigned and won’t come back."
Julian signed with a hard stroke, and the ink deepened somewhat.
Julian raised his head. He closed the folder and handed it to Alan, "Ok."
Julian thought, "She left whenever she wanted. She treated my company as a hotel."
"The Richards Group has just sent an invitation. They invite you to be a guest in the design competition next month," Alan said.
The Jorgansen Group was involved in the clothing design industry, and they had their clothing brand and design team. This time, they could choose one or two excellent designers for the company.
Julian pondered for a moment and asked, "When is the competition?" "The 5th of next month," Alan answered.
"Arrange the company issues. I will go to River City on the 1st of next month," Julian said.
Julian’s voice was not loud, but Alan could feel that he seemed to be in a slight mood.
Alan wondered if it was his illusion.
After Margaret left the company, Julian seemed to be in a bad mood as soon as he came back. His handsome face was gloomy, and he was occasionally furious, just as giving them a thunderstorm to cool down.
When Alan mentioned River City, Julian was back to normal. Alan was confirmed that Julian missed someone.
...
Margaret sneezed a few times in the early morning. Orlenna immediately frowned and said in disgust, "Are you sick?"
Margaret suddenly thought of something and shook her head, "No. I don’t feel uncomfortable at all. Maybe some bastard is scolding me behind my back."
Although she said so, it was obvious that Orlenna did not trust her.
Orlenna said to Margaret, "You don’t need to sleep with Hilla for the next few days. Find a hotel to stay. When the bastard stops scolding you, you can come back."
"Mom, I’m not sick!" Margaret shouted.
Margaret wanted to hold Orlenna’s arm, but Orlenna avoided her.
Margaret thought it was a tragedy that her mom avoided her.
"If you aren’t sick, then you aren’t. What are you shouting for? What if you wake Hilla up?" Orlenna said.
In the past few days, Hilla had been suffering from insomnia due to the design competition, so she would often catch up on sleep during the day. Margaret knew this very well.
Margaret pursed her lips and lowered her voice.
Margaret thought, I only sneeze a few times. Why is my mom so nervous? She even says that she is going to kick me out of our house. Am I still her biological daughter?
I’m just a girl. It’s not safe for me to stay in the hotel. Why did my mom send me to the hotel? Well, it’s ok to stay in the hotel, but it is too expensive to stay in a five-star hotel!
Margaret thought about it and quickly stretched out her hand to Orlenna. With a reluctant expression, she said, "It’s ok to stay in the hotel. Give me a bank card."
Orlenna said angrily, "Bank card again! You ask for a bank card every day. Did the Anderson family treat you badly? Your mind is full of money every day. Do you want
to be a miser?"
Orlenna slapped at her open palm.
Margaret retracted her hand in pain and said with a wronged expression, "I don’t want to blame you. Our family is so rich. Look at my life and the life of those rich young ladies who can’t compare with the Anderson family. They live better than me. I don’t want to lose face."
When she walked with those little sluts, she often lost face because her bag was too cheap and her clothes were not the latest fashion.
She even suspected that if she was a rich second generation.
"You want your dignity? Do you like those fake women?" Orlenna asked.
Orlenna sneered. Margaret pursed her lips and muttered in a low voice, "Of course I don’t like them, but they spend more money than I do."
There was a little bit of envy and jealousy in her heart.
It must be known that the Anderson family was not an ordinary rich and powerful family in River City. Some of those women’s families could not even compare to the Anderson family, but they spent more money than her.
"I have no money for you. If you don’t want to stay in a hotel, you can sleep on the street." Orlenna said.
She directly pushed Margaret out of the house.
Orlenna thought, "She sneezes and still wants to stay around my grandson. No way!"
Margaret did not expect that there would be a day when she would be pushed out of their house by Orlenna. Walking on the street, Margaret wondered if she should take a taxi to the hotel.
"Margaret, why are you here?" Horton asked.
Horton had just finished an operation and was leaving the hospital. He did not expect to see a familiar figure standing at the side of the road.
Margaret turned around and saw Horton in the car. The window rolled down and his glasses were reflecting lights, making her unable to see his eyes.
She curled her lips and said, "My mom chased me out of Bruce’s house." "Are you going to stay in a hotel?" Horton asked.
Seeing that she did not have any luggage, Horton thought that she might just need temporary lodging.
Margaret nodded weakly.
Horton opened the door of the passenger seat, and said, "I’ll send you there."
Margaret sat in the car and complained as soon as she sat, "Halle said that there is
something of the Holt family in the design competition in River City recently. Hilla has been in a bad mood these days and wants to participate in the competition."
"Halle? How does she know it in the countryside?" Horton said.
Horton’s tone was very light, making it hard for Margaret to tell his emotion at the moment.
"Halle knows a lot of the design area. It’s just that it’s too hard for her to take care of the children alone and work in the studio. Hilla is pregnant now and can’t help her. How about I help Halle?" Margaret said.
Anyway, Orlenna did not let her stay at home. Margaret felt that she was very smart. She turned to Horton and said, "Are you busy recently? How about we go to the countryside and play for a few days?"
...
Margaret considered it a wonderful idea to travel in the countryside. She was proud that she had come up with such an idea.
Horton drove her there. Looking at the sceneries along the way, she cheered up and felt exhilarated.
On the side, Horton was calm but slightly narrowed his eyes Margaret chirped to herself,
"I thought you were boring. I didn’t expect you to be so righteous this time that you come to the countryside with me. You’ve taken a few days off for it. Is that okay with the hospital?"
Horton was the associate director of the hospital now and needed to do fewer operations than before.
Margaret had thought that the director of a hospital should be very busy. She did not expect that Horton could ask for leave so easily.
He agreed as soon as she decided to come to the countryside. Margaret had felt that there might have been a conspiracy in Horton who agreed so readily.
"I was very busy a while ago. There were several major surgeries and I was exhausted. It would be good if I could come to the countryside to relax."
It was a perfunctory reply, though it sounded plausible. Margaret nodded as if she understood.
Then, she quickly felt that something was wrong with it.
It suddenly came to her something. Feeling a flicker of interest, she turned to look at Horton and smirked. "Horton, tell me the truth. Do you still love Halle?"
It was quiet in the car. Horton’s heart missed a beat at her words.
Margaret narrowed her eyes and stared carefully at Horton as if she were trying to find out something from his expression.
She failed. He was still wearing a poker face. She was dazzled by the reflective light of his glasses.
Horton was focusing on driving. After a long time, he said, "No."
Margaret nodded doubtfully and returned to her seat. But she kept looking at him from time to time.
She muttered, "It has been more than a year. Halle’s daughter is already one year old. If you love her, you can make a move now.
"But Halle is divorced and has a daughter. Do you mind that?"
Margaret’s curiosity got the better of her so she moved closer to Horton. People loved to know others’ private lives.
Horton replied, "She doesn’t like me."
He sounded to be a little pitiful and rueful.
Margaret frowned, looked at Horton with mixed feelings, sighed, and said, "Forced love does not last. Halle has married such an asshole. She must have held out little hope of a happy marriage."
Margaret’s words seemed to remind him of something. He muttered, "Doesn’t she believe in a happy marriage?"
"Halle’s ex-husband has hurt her so badly. She must have been very disappointed at marriage. She doesn’t have to marry. She lives a carefree life with Emily in the beautiful countryside now."
As Margaret spoke, she leaned out of the car window and looked at the fields at sunset. She was in a good mood.
Orlenna had kicked her out of their house, but Margaret found someone to turn to.
She was going to a place where she could spend the night for free. Moreover, in the countryside, she could eat well, play well, and spend less money. Thinking about it, she was happier.
They arrived at Halle’s studio in the evening.
Margaret had sent a message to Halle, so when they arrived, the courtyard door outside the studio was open. They could come in directly.
Horton sat in the car. Looking at the open door, the courtyard not far away, and the cottage with lights on, he was in a daze.
Margaret beside him was somewhat impatient and urged, "What are you doing here? Come on in!"
As she spoke, Margaret pointed out the front and said, "Idyll, I’m coming!"
Horton looked at her, rolled his eyes, and thought, "She’s exaggerating."
The two dogs had been kept in the kennel by Halle. The grapes were ripe. There was a large wooden table and some benches under the trellis.
Under the trellis for grapes, Stella and Maritza were trying to find the ripest and sweetest grapes for Emily. When they heard the sound of the car, they looked back.
Halle had told them that there would be guests in a while. They thought it must be the guests in the car.
Stella had seen Horton. Although Horton had never entered the courtyard, she knew that he was Halle’s acquaintance.
Margaret came here for the first time after the studio was built. Stella did not know her. Just as Stella was about to ask, Margaret had rushed to them from the car and picked up Emily, who was sitting on a stool and was eating grapes.
"You are so cute! Look at that chubby cheeks!"
Margaret was so excited that she soundly kissed Emily on the cheeks.
Emily stared blankly at the strange Margaret in front of her. Her black eyes sparkled.
She was still holding a grape in her hand, grape juice all over her rosy little mouth.
She blinked and said, "Auntie, it’s dirty!"
She thought that the auntie who had kissed her wasn’t a neat person. Mother had said that kissing among strangers was insanitary.
Margaret’s heart melted when she heard Emily’s words. Margaret could not help but hug her even tighter in her arms. "You are so adorable! I like you very much!"
She hoped that her future nephew or niece, Hilla’s child, would be as cute as Emily. She would love him or her very much!
Hugging Emily, Margaret moved round in circles excitedly. Seeing this, Stella frowned. She did not know who this crazy woman was or whether she should take Emily back.
Emily lay on Margaret’s shoulder, staring carefully at Horton who had been smiling behind Margaret without saying a word.
She blinked, stretched out to Horton in a friendly manner, and said seriously, "Uncle, hug!"
Horton was stunned. He looked at the fair and chubby face in front of him and met her gaze. Her eyes were clear. His heart somehow missed a beat.
He took a step forward. His hand trembled with excitement. Emily stretched out her small arms to him and said again, "Hug!"
Horton was in a daze for a moment. Then, he strode forward and took Emily from Margaret’s arms.
Emily, who was soft and had a baby smell, fell into his arms in an instant. He felt as if he were holding a warm cloud.
Emily hugged him around the neck. She was looking at him carefully. Then, she suddenly drooled at the mouth and said to him, "Kiss!"
After saying that, Horton was kissed by her on the cheek.
