Mr. Tycoon's Beloved Wife: The Madam No One Dares to Offend
Chapter 229: The Baby Entails a Privilege on Hilla
CHAPTER 229: THE BABY ENTAILS A PRIVILEGE ON HILLA
Naturally, Halle saw that they were enjoying themselves in the living room. She was under the impression that Emily was rarely so happy.
Although Emily seemingly hated Margaret very much, there was a smile on Emily’s face when she hid behind Horton.
They got along well with each other, but Halle was deadly depressed at this. She hoped such a sweet and happy smile would never vanish from Emily’s face. However, Halle was also afraid what would happen next could go beyond her control.
"Hilla, I’m worried he has known the truth."
Halle’s voice was not loud but muffled. She was secretly having a video call with Hilla, so no one else heard what they were talking about.
Hilla got alert and thought, ’Has Horton known that Emily is his child?’
However, now that Halle didn’t tell him and he knew nothing when in the hospital, he should never know it.
"Halle, don’t worry. I’ll ask Margaret to come back tomorrow."
If Margaret left, Horton had no reason to stay in the countryside, and then Halle should be relieved.
Halle pursed her lips and didn’t say anything. However, Hilla saw tears in Halle’s eyes.
Halle was repressing her grief, but they were clear that they couldn’t always hide it from Horton.
"Hilla, I wonder whether I should leave River City with Emily."
Hearing this, Hilla was shocked. She thought Hilla needn’t run around like a fugitive to hide from Horton.
"Halle, you’re overthinking it. Horton doesn’t know anything. Do you want Emily to move around with you? What if he tries to find you? If you leave, it will awaken a suspicion of the truth."
Halle had thought about this before. Nevertheless, she was panicked before Horton, even if he didn’t doubt her. Thus, she wanted to hide from him.
This guilt grew stronger as Horton got along better and better with Emily.
"I know. I will control my emotions. If he doesn’t take Emily away from me, I will..."
Halle murmured in a low voice. She did not know what she would do.
Would she allow Horton to see Emily? Would she tell him that he was Emily’s father?
The bursts of laughter coming from the living room directly messed up her thoughts. She couldn’t even remember anything because her mind was in chaos. In the end, she said, "You’d better not participate in the design competition. Given you are pregnant, you should give top priority to the baby. You have suffered a lot for it, so you must be more careful. Otherwise, you would regret it. It’s just a competition that is super inferior to your baby."
This was the only thing that Halle remembered to say.
Hilla was stunned for a moment. She subconsciously rubbed her belly. Halle had Emily, so Halle knew well what a child meant to a woman.
Hilla remembered she had suffered for two years to have the baby. She also remembered Tyree’s expectant eyes when he was about to pass away.
Thinking of this, she suddenly saw sense and nodded. "I see!"
Everything paled when compared with a baby. The baby in her belly was the descendant of the Anderson family and would carry on its name in the future.
Orlenna was over the moon when she knew Hilla was pregnant. Whenever Orlenna went out and met her close friends, she would tell them about the pregnancy of Hilla.
If something went wrong in the competition, not only Hilla but also the others, who were looking forward to the baby, would be disappointed.
Therefore, Hilla should have more consideration for them.
After hanging up the video call, she turned to look out the window and saw something red. She went to the balcony with a smile and hugged the balloon on the bamboo basket.
"What’s in it today?"
Hilla smiled and looked up at the man on the balcony upstairs.
Bruce had just taken a shower, so his hair gently fell between his eyebrows. His deep and cold eyes rested on her with a faint smile.
"It’s not for you, but for my son."
Bruce said casually, so Hilla could not help rolling her eyes at him.
Orlenna did not allow him to approach Hilla, so they could only meet on their respective balconies every day. However, it protected Hilla from being touched.
The bamboo basket was covered with a small piece of floral cloth, and they dated like Romeo and Juliet.
They didn’t text or call each other but met on their respective balconies every day when Bruce returned from work.
The only chance for Bruce to do something excessive was during dinner, when they sat together. He rubbed her with his hands and feet at times.
Every time he did that, Hilla flushed and ran back upstairs before she could finish her meal.
Bruce must be crazy that he even wanted to have sex with her when she was pregnant.
Hilla didn’t dare to tell Orlenna, so she could do nothing but glare at him.
In the basket was a male doll that was peeing. Hilla looked at it and blushed. She glared up at Bruce. "Shame on you!"
Bruce rested his elbow on the fence and held his chin with one hand, saying with a half-smile, "Really? I feel very proud."
What a shameless man!
Hilla muttered to him, "No one used it as a gift. Moreover, why are you sure the baby is a boy? I want a daughter."
Every time Hilla saw Emily, she felt Emily was very cute and adorable. Hilla and Halle were both beautiful, so their daughters must be attractive as well.
However, when thinking of Halle, Hilla felt that women had a harder life. In comparison, this world was more tolerant towards men than women.
"It doesn’t matter if it’s a girl or a boy. If it’s a boy, we can have a daughter later." Bruce grinned broadly. Hilla looked up at him as her lips twitched.
She didn’t expect him to be so greedy that he wanted not only a son but also a daughter. Thus, she said, "You have been driven upstairs. If I get pregnant again, you won’t be allowed to go downstairs."
Bruce raised his eyebrows and looked at her with a faint smile.
"Okay. After the babies are born, you can ask my mother to look after them. And I will pick you upstairs.
"We can have the place to ourselves."
"You’re such a naughty man!"
Hilla was amused. The grief repressed for a whole day dispersed in an instant. She looked at Bruce under the night sky and said,
"Bruce, I’ve made up my mind. I won’t participate in the design competition." "The design competition?" Bruce was slightly stunned.
Hilla looked at his frowning face and laughed, "I will stay at home until the baby is born."
Nothing was more important than the baby. Hilla couldn’t help rubbing her belly and was sure that she must cherish the baby!
...
Hilla didn’t participate in the design competition, but she received the invitation to it. However, she was invited as Bruce’s wife rather than a designer.
This meant that she would be a guest and watch the Holt family’s design paintings to be granted to someone else.
"It’s just an ordinary competition. Why does Queeney invite both Bruce and Hilla? Who the heck does she think she is?"
When Orlenna saw the invitation, she made nothing of it. The Andersons got involved in the clothing industry and they decided to find a few talents in this competition.
However, the branch’s manager is qualified enough to attend it. Bruce, the president of the Anderson Group, needn’t slum there.
Most importantly, as the invitation said, he should attend the competition with his wife, so Hilla was also invited.
Many people would attend the design competition, and a cocktail party would be held after it. Thus, it would be very crowded and Hilla might well be hit.
Thinking of this, Orlenna naturally didn’t want them to go.
"Mother, many designers and managers of major companies have been invited, so it is very proper."
Apart from the century-old design paintings, this competition was very attractive to Hilla in many other aspects.
"Are you going to participate in it?"
Orlenna got what Hilla implied, so she immediately became nervous.
Even if Hilla attended it as a guest, Orlenna was worried that something would go wrong with Hilla, not to mention that Hilla would be a competitor. It would be much more tiring.
As a result, Orlenna’s face darkened, even if it would upset Hilla.
Hilla understood what Orlenna was thinking.
If Hilla was not pregnant, she would give it a try. Even if she could not win the championship or take back the design paintings, she could learn a lot from the competition.
However, she rubbed her belly and smiled, "This competition will last for more than ten days, and there are three consecutive matches."
"Yes, it must be very tiring!"
Orlenna thought, ’Hilla, you can’t participate. It doesn’t matter whether you become a famous designer or not. You have been famous as Bruce’s wife.’
"You are right. I often feel sick these days, and I don’t have any inspiration recently, so I won’t participate."
From beginning to end, she did not sign up for it, even though she was tempted when Queeney announced the reward.
She did not have 300 million dollars, and neither could she buy it at the expense of Bruce or the Anderson Group. Therefore, she was willing to give up the design paintings.
However, it was clear that Queeney didn’t want Hilla to give up. On the contrary, Queeney tried to tempt her with the design paintings.
If Queeney had any conspiracy, she might well be impatient.
"Well, it’s good that you don’t participate. If you want, we can hold a competition ourselves after the baby is born."
Orlenna gave a happy smile when hearing that Hilla had no intention of participating in the competition.
She was glad that her grandson would be born in a few months as her eyes fell on Hilla’s belly.
There hadn’t been any addition to the Anderson family for many years, but now, a baby was about to join them.
"Mother, I won’t participate in the competition, but I want to go there. There are many excellent designers there. I want to watch their works and find something that can improve me professionally."
Hilla’s voice wasn’t loud but a little guilty. She had intentionally said she wouldn’t participate because she thought Orlenna would compromise and allow her to go there.
When Hilla saw the invitation, she knew she couldn’t ride roughshod over Orlenna, who was the baby’s grandmother.
The child was in Hilla’s belly, but Orlenna had put in as much effort as Hilla had.
Hilla understood the Anderson family attached great importance to her and the baby, so she was willing to stay in this house and never complained.
As expected, Orlenna’s expression changed when she heard that Hilla was going to the competition.
Hilla took the opportunity to look at Bruce, who had been silent. Ever since he entered the door, he just watched and stood by.
Seemingly, he was silent and didn’t care about anything, but he rubbed her with his hands and feet every day.
This man was both randy and bad.
"But you’ve just got pregnant, and the fetus is not stable yet. If you hadn’t gone to the hospital in time, you would have had a miscarriage."
Orlenna said in disapproval, which revealed she didn’t want Hilla to go. Hilla bit her lip and asked Bruce pitifully, "Bruce, what do you think?"
He was invited as well, so he should say something about this. Nonetheless, it was clear that he had no intention of attending the competition.
Now that he was asked, he looked up at Hilla and Orlenna, the most important women in his life.
"You can go if you want."
"No. I heard there would be many spectators."
"We aren’t ordinary spectators. We have the VIP entrance."
Bruce said calmly, and Hilla nodded at once.
As an experienced man, Bruce argued reasonably and persuasively.
It reminded Hilla that she would have the VIP entrance with Bruce. They needn’t buy tickets in the crowd.
"You will sit with many people. What if someone accidentally hits Hilla?" Orlenna put on a long face. She did not buy Bruce’s reason. Hilla said hurriedly, "Mother, I’ll be careful."
"It’ll be too late when you are hit. Are you sure you can push them away every time people come to you?"
Hilla was surprised that she couldn’t win Orlenna.
She had no choice but to turn to Bruce, who was good at dealing with this.
He said, "We will sit in the VIP section!"
There were only a few honored guests in the VIP section who were all civilized entrepreneurs or nobles.
They all had high status. Moreover, it was so big an event that Queeney had specially invited Bruce. In other words, people sitting beside him were not inferior to him.
"Mother, it won’t be crowded in the VIP section. Bruce will protect me, and I will be very careful. I just want to take a look and broaden my horizon."
"You can also watch it on TV or the Internet."
Orlenna’s didn’t give up because she was super worried about the baby.
Hilla shook her head and said, "It’s different. Some details can’t be seen on the Internet, and not every work and designer will be caught by the camera. I don’t want to miss any excellent idea or creation."
Hilla said patiently and looked extremely determined. Seeing this, Orlenna didn’t
dare to go too far. What if Hilla got angry and hurt the baby? Hilla felt that the baby in her belly entailed a privilege on her!
