CHAPTER 39: SHE CALMS HERSELF DOWN

The Anderson’s villa was shrouded in the silence and warmth of the night.

Hilla sat in the study, holding the latest romance novel, refusing to go back to her room.

Thinking about what Bruce had said to her, she blushed. If she went back to her room and faced him, she would blush.

"What are you doing here? Bruce woke up and your good days came. You should be very happy now! You will be in charge of the Anderson family soon."

Margaret stood in front of the open window and looked at Hilla with a hint of disgust on her face.

Margaret thought that Hilla was so young and seductive!

Although Bruce was awake now, she felt that beautiful women wouldn’t know their place, especially Hilla. Hilla was a lady and she used to be surrounded by servants, so how could she be willing to stay by the bed and nurse Bruce now?

Margaret thought that Hilla married Bruce for his property.

Hilla must have thought that Bruce wouldn’t live for long and that she would inherit his property.

"Margaret, are you very hostile towards me?"

Sitting on the reclining chair, Hilla turned her head and looked at Margaret.

She always felt that the first time she met Margaret, she seemed to hate her.

In fact, Margaret did not like her.

"I am hostile to you? Are you crazy? We treat you so well. We just want you to take care of Bruce."

"I am taking care of him!"

Hilla was very serious. Bruce liked to flirt with her. She was not as shameless as him.

She was embarrassed when Bruce flirted with her, but she would blush when she thought about it later. She could hear the beat of her heart.

"You think you can lie to Bruce, my mother, and all the people of our family, but you can’t lie to me. That day, I saw you hugging a man, and the two of you ran into this rose room. You know what you did. My brother just woke up and I didn’t want him to be angry. When he knows you clearly, he will kick you out of our house."

Since Hilla cheated Bruce behind his back, Margaret thought that to kick her out of the Anderson’s house was too good for her. A shameless woman like her should be in the prison.

Hilla was nervous when she heard that. She thought of the day when she was pulled into the rose room by Julian. She was afraid that Margaret had seen them, so they

happened to be in the bedroom that night.

It was not because Bruce had woken up and they were concerned about Bruce. Those people were there to catch her adultery!

If Bruce hadn’t woken up and stopped them, they would have searched the entire room even if Julian was not in the room at that time.

Hilla was glad that Bruce had taken off her clothes that day and dragged her onto the bed. If it wasn’t for him, she would be caught. Even if they couldn’t find a man that day, they would still suspect that she was cheating.

It was really difficult to be a wife, especially when her husband was ill and she was nearly to be a widow.

"I didn’t expect that you saw it. You are so nice to me. When do you want Bruce to kick me out of here? What if he doesn’t believe you?"

Hilla blinked her eyes, a shrewd look in her eyes.

Margaret snorted and waved the phone proudly. "Do you think I tell him without evidence? I took photos of you hugging a man that night."

She was smart!

Hilla glanced at the phone in Margaret’s hand, and her smile disappeared. She said casually, "You say that I am the one in the photo. What can you do to me if I refuse to admit it?"

"You won’t admit it? It is you in the photos."

Margaret bit her lips and opened her phone angrily. She found the photo from that day and showed it to Hilla with a proud face, saying, "Look, it is you!"

Hilla glanced at it and frowned. Margaret’s mobile phone had a high resolution. It was so dark, and she was far away from them, but the photo she took was so clear.

Although she and Julian did not hug each other, Julian indeed held her hand. In the photo, she turned back and they seemed to look at each other affectionately.

The photo was ambiguous and easy to misunderstand. Margaret took this photo skillfully. Hilla wondered if Margaret had learned photography techniques before.

She frowned and thought, "Is it me? It doesn’t look like me. I can deny it."

"What do you mean it doesn’t look like you? It is you. Look at this dress. You wore it at the party that night."

Margaret was so angry at Hilla that she was going out from the window. She showed Hilla the photo so that the latter could see clearly whether it was her or not.

Hilla also leaned forward, staring at it and pouting, "It’s not strange that the clothes are similar."

"You are talking nonsense. This is a limited edition. There is only one in the entire River City. Admit it. It is you."

"Who was that man?"

Hilla raised her head and asked. Margaret was stunned by her question. She said angrily, "How would I know? It must be your adulterer."

Hilla nodded. "You are right."

Margaret was satisfied with her answer. She smiled and said, "That’s right. It was you and your adulterer. You cheated on Bruce behind his back."

Hilla thought, "Why does Margaret want me to cheat on Bruce? Do they all think that I’m cheating on him?

Hilla nodded and said, "Yes, I was dating another man. What can you do? Show this to Bruce and ask him to divorce me?"

Margaret didn’t expect Hilla to be such a shameless woman. She was so angry and said, "This is the evidence. Bruce has a lot of ways to make you suffer. He will divorce you."

Margaret thought, "Even if you won’t get divorced, we won’t let you take advantage of us."

Suddenly, an enchanting smile appeared on Hilla’s face. This smile made the mole at the bottom of her eye even more charming.

Margaret was shocked by her beautiful face. Even if she was a woman, she had to admit that Hilla was really beautiful when she smiled.

When Margaret was lost in thought, Hilla flicked the grape in her hand and directly hit Margaret’s elbow. Margaret loosened her hand, and her phone fell into the bucket of the rose room.

Then she heard Hilla’s fake exclamation, "Oh my God, you lose your evidence!"

...

Margaret looked at her hand in shock. There was still a faint numbness on her elbow. She did not even have time to react to how she lost her phone. Her phone had already sunk into the bucket.

How did her phone fall into the bucket?

"It is all your fault."

Looking at Hilla, who was gloating over her misfortune, Margaret felt that she did this, but how did her phone fall into the bucket? Hilla didn’t touch her at all.

Even if she wanted to frame Hilla, there was no evidence, but there were only the two of them here. Margaret couldn’t believe that it was her who had slipped her phone into the bucket.

She was angry and anxious, but when she got her phone out of the bucket, it could no longer function.

Hilla sighed regretfully, "This phone looks quite new, right?"

"Damn, I bought it last month!" Margaret stomped her feet in anger. It was not that she felt bad for her phone, but she felt sorry for the ’evidence’ in her cell phone. This time, she couldn’t kick her out of the Anderson’s without evidence.

Moreover, if she said this to Bruce without evidence, she would probably be scolded by him.

She knew very well what kind of person Bruce was. Although he wouldn’t distort facts to protect Hilla, he would never listen to someone without evidence.

Hilla raised her eyebrows and said, "You didn’t hold it well. You can’t blame me, right?"

"It’s you. You must have done something. Otherwise, how could it fall into the bucket by itself?"

She was so angry. Not only did she not mess with Hilla, but she also lost her phone. She had just bought it. Although she didn’t care about the money, she did care about the evidence in it.

"The phone is in your hands. I didn’t even touch you and I didn’t touch your phone either. If you blame me for this. You are too unreasonable. You can’t blame me for everything just because I am your sister-in-law, and you think I am an outsider of this family!"

"No matter what, I am now one of the Andersons. I have to take care of the Andersons. I am your sister-in-law. You should respect me."

Hilla pursed her lips, and it seemed that she had been wronged and her face was full of sadness.

Margaret choked on her words. She actually didn’t know how to say.

"You are talking nonsense. Unreasonable!"

It was obviously her phone that was broken. Why did it become her fault anyway? Hilla was a very vicious woman!

Margaret was so angry, but she couldn’t do anything to Hilla. In the end, she could only threaten her, "Just wait and see. I will definitely find evidence of your cheating and let Bruce divorce you."

Such a bad woman definitely could not marry Bruce or be his sister-in-law.

"Don’t think that just because you are a few years older than me, you can take advantage of me. When I was a goody-two-shoes, you were still a little girl."

Looking at the back of Margaret, who left in a hurry, Hilla snorted and was so proud of herself.

Everyone in the world liked goody-two- shoes. She had already mastered it. Margaret was so straightforward, and she would definitely lose to her.

Sure enough, after Margaret was provoked by Hilla, she went to Orlenna. She thought that her mother would support her. Unexpectedly, Orlenna frowned and looked at her angrily. "Why do you show the photo to Hilla?"

Now that her son had just woken up and they were in a close relationship, she would soon be able to get a grandson. Wasn’t Margaret deliberately destroying her son’s marriage?

Orlenna disapproved of what Margaret did. In the past, she suspected her because Bruce could lie in bed and do nothing while Hilla was too beautiful and was liked by many men. What she was afraid of was that if Bruce continued like this, the Anderson family would not be able to keep her sooner or later.

But it was different now. Her son had woken up, and he was not a fool. She believed that her son knew very well if Hilla had any other man.

If Hilla really cheated Bruce, she would let her son divorce her as soon as he woke up.

However, Bruce didn’t divorce her. He did not refuse the marriage she had arranged for him, he even got along well with Hilla. This meant that he liked Hilla.

Since Bruce and Hilla had a good relationship and there was hope for her to have a grandson, she wouldn’t allow others to meddle in their relationship? Even her own daughter could not do it.

Margaret curled her lips in a grievance. "Mom, I know I was wrong. If I have evidence, I will hide it and not let Hilla know. When the time comes, I will give it to Bruce and let him divorce her."

When Orlenna heard this, she could not help but roll her eyes at her. "What is wrong with you? Bruce likes Hilla so much. How can he divorce her? Don’t bother Hilla. Also, show her some respect!"

Margaret did not expect that her mother didn’t support her but taught her a lesson.

She was confused why treated Hilla better than her own daughter. Hilla was really good at bewitching people.

Hilla didn’t return to her bedroom until it was dark in the rose room.

It was already late autumn, and there was no heating in the rose room. It was exceptionally cold in the dark, and even the romance novels that made her blush and her heart beat fast could not save her from feeling cold.

In the room, the big bed was empty. Bruce’s computer was on the bed, and there was a faint sound of water flowing in the bathroom.

Bruce was taking a shower. When she thought of his attractive eight-pack abs, she actually blushed.

"Hilla, you have to be calm and sober. You are still young and have not been in a sweet relationship. Bruce is already thirty years old and he is as old as your uncle. He dated lots of women. You can’t be bewitched by him. He is not worth it."

Hilla muttered to herself. She didn’t forget to warn her beating heart and quickly calmed down.

When she ran to the balcony, as expected, she calmed down a lot after being blown by the night wind.

Fortunately, she could calm herself down!

There was a slight sound of a switch behind her. Bruce came out of the bathroom. His body was half -dried, and the hair on his forehead was still dripping with water. He felt a chill. He frowned and looked at the slender figure on the balcony. He pursed his lips and said, "Why are you standing there? Come in!"

Hilla suddenly turned her head and saw an attractive man coming out of the bath.

The bright crystal light above her head was too bright for her eyes.

She subconsciously covered her face with her hands and only dared to peek through the gaps between her fingers. She said to Bruce, who was full of water and looked so attractive at the door.

"Why aren’t you wearing clothes?"

He was so bad. He seduced her at all times!
