CHAPTER 64: THE PRESIDENT HAS THOUSANDS OF WAYS TO TORTURE YOU

Hilla looked at Bruce, who was surrounded by many people. Now he was sitting in a wheelchair, much shorter than everyone else.

But at this moment, she only saw him.

His beautiful eyes were deep, and he stood out from the crowd.

Hilla stared at him in a daze before realizing that she was still being held by others.

She quickly pulled her hand free and then lowered her head and shrank back.

What she could do now was to keep her head down, hoping that Bruce didn’t care about what had just happened here. However, things went contrary to her wishes.

When Susan saw these people, she was frightened.

When her gaze fell on Bruce’s face, it occurred to her that Bruce had returned to the company yesterday, so he needed to inspect the various departments.

However, no one had expected that Bruce would come to the design department first.

"Ms. Green, I..."

"Two Mr. Andersons are here. If you have something to say, just say it. Don’t you know Mr. Anderson hates employees who are inefficient?"

With just a few words, Julie hid from her responsibilities. With a serious look, she looked like a strong woman.

Susan was so frightened that her face turned pale. Looking at Bruce, she was so nervous that she tightened her grip on the corner of her clothes and did not utter a word.

The company’s newcomers who worked here for no more than half a year probably didn’t know about Bruce’s style of work, but all seniors did.

Susan knew that she had gone against Bruce’s rules. She gritted her teeth and said, "It was Hilla who was late to work. I was just reminding her. I didn’t expect her to make a false accusation. She even hooked up with colleagues to bully me. Ms. Green, you have to help me."

Susan’s eyes were red when she looked at Julie.

Julie frowned and squinted around the staff of the design department. "Hilla, were you late?"

Hilla, who had hidden in the crowd, was suddenly mentioned. At this point, even if those people wanted to argue for her, they would not stand up for her in front of so many company leaders.

Hilla carefully moved out of the crowd with her head down.

Rudi’s eyes lit up. He knew Hilla was Bruce’s wife, but he still couldn’t help staring at her with a greedy look in his eyes.

Julie frowned in displeasure and gave Rudi a pinch. Only then did Rudi look away. He smiled, "The new employees don’t know anything. It’s normal for them to be late for work. It was her first time. Forget it. Bruce, don’t you think so?"

This was Bruce’s wife. Bruce should thank him for speaking up for Hilla.

Julie frowned in dissatisfaction and didn’t say anything.

But Susan was so anxious that her eyes turned red. The people from the department preferred Hilla. Why did Rudi also speak up for Hilla? Susan looked at Bruce again. Out of fear, she suppressed her dissatisfaction.

Bruce’s gaze swept past the crowd and landed on Hilla’s face. Although he was sitting with his head up, his aura was extremely strong.

He asked in a low voice, his lips red and thin. "Were you late?"

Hilla pursed her lips and nodded.

In fact, Bruce and Hilla had arrived together. It seemed that Bruce did not enter his office and instead brought the higher- ups directly to the design department, as if he purposely came here to hear that she was late.

She felt a little sad that he did not speak up for her. She knew that Bruce would definitely not protect her in so many employees’ presence. But she still had some expectations about Bruce.

"Since you were late, you will be punished according to the company rules and regulations. The personnel department is not a decoration."

The manager of the personnel department behind him trembled in fear. However, Rudi could feel that Bruce was speaking to him.

He spoke up for Hilla, and Bruce actually dared to refute him in front of so many people.

Rudi’s face became very dark.

"Even a new assistant can be late at will. The management of the company really needs to be reorganized."

Bruce’s gaze swept over everyone, and it was as sharp as a blade.

The entire design department seemed to be filled with tension and everyone did even not dare to breathe.

Rudi frowned. He was extremely unhappy.

Bruce had just returned and did not have much power in his hands, but he was still the CEO of Anderson Industries. That was why Rudi had to show respect to him.

In no time, this group of people left together.

In the office, Julie threw paper of non-reappointment in front of Susan and said coldly, "Sign it. The company will compensate you."

"Why... why? The company wants to dismiss me? Because of Hilla?"

Susan had a look of disbelief on her face. She had done a lot to get into this company.

She thought that she would be able to find her Mr. Right in the Anderson Group and that she would be able to live a carefree life for the rest of her life.

If she was dismissed by the Anderson Group, it was certain that no company in River City dared to employ her. Her life would be ruined, wouldn’t it?

Julie was not surprised by Susan’s expression at all. They had the same goals but the difference between them was that she finally became the manager of the design department by herself.

There were six design departments in the Anderson Group, from costume and jewelry to construction. Now Julie had successfully rooted herself in the company.

Though she was forced to be with Rudi back then, she was completely not attached to that man.

"You still don’t understand? The company won’t keep an employee who stirs up trouble. Your behavior has touched the bottom line of the company. All of it has nothing to do with Hilla."

Hilla was late. The personnel department would naturally evaluate her performance according to her leader’s words and her own behaviors. However, Susan took the opportunity to make things difficult for Hilla, and now everyone in the design department knew it.

"It has nothing to do with Hilla? Ms. Green, you can ignore it with kindness. I am not blind. The way Rudi looked at Hilla was special. He spoke for her in front of so many people. Don’t think I don’t know that this is his intention!"

"What nonsense are you talking about? This is the intention of the personnel department. And because of you, the entire company has to face personnel reorganization and management training."

Julie’s face darkened. Both she and Rudi had not expected this result.

Bruce took advantage of the fact that the quality of the employees became low and began to conduct personnel training and adjustments to the entire company. They had worked hard for half a year to nurture their people. This time, many of them would be fired by Bruce just because of Susan’s jealousy.

"How can a negligible employee like me bear such a huge responsibility? Ms. Green, in order to please a man, you can really do anything."

"Susan, you..."

Looking at Susan’s back, Julie was full of irritation.

Julie did not have to please any man now. She would never allow Hilla to break her

dream of marrying into a rich family.

...

After Hilla finished her attendance records of the personnel department, she returned to the office and cleaned up her table.

Just as she sat down, someone knocked on the desk. The man looked at her with a worried expression and said, "Hilla, the higher-ups want you to go to the president’s office. Susan has just been dismissed. Don’t worry. You’ll just be scolded by the president. He just came back and has to be formidable. Don’t be afraid."

The man was quite concerned about Hilla. Hilla got up and smiled sweetly at him, saying, "Thank you!"

"It’s a pleasure. Hilla, don’t be afraid. I can testify to you about what happened just now. It was Susan who hit you, and you are the victim. She is not from the personnel department, and she doesn’t need to care if you were late. She is obviously jealous of you and wants to make things difficult for you. Mr. Anderson is a serious person, but if you admit your mistakes, he will not do anything to you."

He patted his chest. As he looked up and saw Susan who just came out of Julie’s office, he was flustered for a moment.

But soon, he straightened and pulled Hilla behind him. "Don’t be afraid. I will protect you."

"Thank you for your care. Miss Adams won’t hit me." The fact was Susan wouldn’t be able to beat her at all.

Hilla stepped out from behind him and smiled sweetly at Susan. That smile was dazzling, which made Susan feel that it was a provocation, sarcasm, and humiliation.

"You must be very smug!"

"Yes, you have been fired. And one less person in the company who is against me. Of course, I’m happy."

Hilla didn’t hide it at all, which made Susan slightly startled, and even the man behind her was shocked.

Looking at the smiling girl in front of him, he felt a terrifying cold look in her eyes. He must have seen it wrong.

How could such a cute, beautiful girl have such a strong aura?

"You wait and see. Don’t be proud too early. Do you think you can do everything in the company with good looks and someone’s protection? Stop dreaming. Bruce is the CEO of the Anderson Group. He and Rudi are sworn enemies. You’ll be got rid of sooner or later."

Susan glanced at Julie’s office and then hid the hatred in her eyes.

Hilla pouted and smiled, "Okay, I’ll wait for someone to help you get rid of me. After I’m fired, I’ll treat you to a meal, okay?"

"No one wants your meal!"

Susan was so furious that she trembled. She had been in the company for so many years, but she had never seen such an arrogant assistant.

She couldn’t help holding the cardboard box in her hands tightly. With her high heels, she walked angrily to the elevator.

The man behind Hilla was so surprised that he couldn’t speak. Hilla turned around and saw his frightened look. The smile on her face became broader. "Was what I said just now particularly impressive? She was so angry."

It turned out that she said those for the purpose of irritating Susan. She was very special. Not like others who had been bullied, she even thought of ways to anger the culprit.

The man’s eyes lit up, and he looked at the girl in front of him brightly.

The girl he liked was really special.

"I’m going to the president’s office. Thank you for your reminder. Mr. Anderson is indeed a good person."

As Hilla finished speaking, she ran happily to the elevator to the president’s office. The man was stunned and the chest that had been patted by Hilla was like burning hot. Looking in the direction where Hilla left, he couldn’t help but smile with a red face.

He also believed that Mr. Anderson was a good person and would not blame such a cute girl.

In the president’s office, standing in front of Bruce, Hilla raised her eyebrows and asked coldly, "You fired Susan?"

Susan?

Bruce looked up from the pile of documents. He thought about this unfamiliar name and frowned. "Who?"

"The one who fought with me today and got fired by you. Don’t play dumb."

Bruce chuckled and reached out to pull Hilla over. "Ouch, it hurts!"

"Are you really injured?"

Bruce’s face darkened. He pulled away Hilla’s sleeve. As expected, there was a little blue bruise on her elbow. The look in his dark eyes became colder. He looked at Hilla and asked, "It was just an act. Why did you really hurt yourself?"

"When I fell down, I couldn’t avoid it. We all make mistakes."

Hilla glanced at her bruise, which was nothing compared to the injuries she had suffered when she practiced martial arts.

Just as she pulled down her sleeves, Bruce pulled her up again and said coldly, "Go to the sofa and sit down."

Then, he called his assistant outside on the internal telephone. "Bring the medicine box in."

"There’s no need to apply medicine to such a small injury."

She complained, and obediently walked to the sofa and sat down. Seeing Bruce come over in a wheelchair, she could not help asking, "Did you fire Susan because of me?"

"She injured you. Shouldn’t she be punished? What if the company’s employees bully the assistants at will?"

See how serious he was. How cute the overbearing president was!

Hilla smiles and got up. She hugged Bruce’s neck and kissed him on the face.

"Hey, come on, stop it."

Bruce was stunned for a moment. His eyes were smiling as he pulled down her sleeves. He looked up and saw the female assistant who had been shocked by the scene standing at the door.

Hilla came back to her senses and immediately got up from Bruce’s arms, sitting on the sofa with her head lowered like waiting for a lecture.

Bruce was calm, his expression returning to his usual indifference. His cold gaze fell on the female assistant at the door. "Put down the medicine box and close the door," said he in a deep voice.

The female assistant quickly put down the medicine box and rushed out.

It was so scary just now. A girl threw herself on their president and kissed him. He was not angry and even smiled lovingly.

Oh god. Actually, the president could smile!

Would she be silenced after discovering such a big secret?

The female assistant had thought of dozens of ways of how she would end up.

The moment she reached the door, she suddenly heard the call from the president. "Wait a minute!"

"Do you need anything else, Mr. Anderson?"

The assistant quickly turned around and smiled a friendly and formal smile.

Bruce’s gaze fell on Hilla. He asked in a gentle voice, "Are you hungry?"

The girl in front of him shook her head and pouted. "I ate too much this morning. I’m a little thirsty."

"What do you want to drink?"

"Juice!"

"OK. Bring me a glass of juice."

The word OK sounded dramatically different from the rest words.

The female assistant bowed and then walked out of the office. After closing the door, she stood there and pounded her chest with frustration.

She thought of thousands of ways to be tortured by the president, but she never expected to be envious of his public display of affection.
