CHAPTER 66: BRUCE STAYS OUT

Hilla thought Bruce’s verbal apology was not sincere, but she seemed to be more annoyed about his action apology.

Bruce frowned. Just as he was about to ask how he should apologize in order to show his sincerity, a woman’s soft and muffled voice came from the quilt, "I’m embarrassed."

"Oh!"

It turned out that she was shy. After being kissed, she went into the quilt and did not come out.

Bruce put down the computer in his hand and then lay down on the bed. The moment he turned off the bedside lamp, the room was filled with endless darkness.

In the dark, one could not see the fingers or anything. Only when one listened carefully could he hear another one’s breathing beside him.

Hilla stuck her head out of the quilt in the darkness. She didn’t have to worry that Bruce would see her burning red cheeks, and then she took a deep breath.

"The thing that I let you meet Julian is my fault. I sincerely apologize to you."

Bruce’s low voice came from the air. Hilla tightened the quilt with her hands, pursed her lips, and whispered, "OK."

"Are you not angry?"

In the dark, Bruce turned his head. His bright black eyes were so charming that Hilla was fascinated. She swallowed hard, grabbed the quilt, and carefully leaned against the bedside.

"I’m not angry any longer."

"Don’t lean toward the bedside, or you will fall."

Bruce reminded, his voice carrying a trace of happiness. Only then did Hilla stiffen her body, and as expected, she obediently stayed motionless.

"Is Mount Cloud very important to the Anderson Group?"

After a long time, when Bruce thought that she had been asleep, Hilla asked him in a low voice.

The dark room was too quiet, so they could hear each other’s breathing clearly. Bruce lay flat and looked at the roof, though he could not see anything. He became serious.

"That land is very important to me."

In the dark room, every sound was so clear and powerful. Hilla heard it and she was touched. She said firmly, "I will help you."

"Well, what can a little girl like you do to help me?"

Bruce was amused by her words. The heaviness that had been stuck in his chest seemed to disappear with Hilla’s attitude towards him.

"I might be able to help you. Julian is familiar to me. He and I were ..." She wanted to say that they were students of the same martial arts teacher before!

"Let’s sleep!"

Before Hilla could finish speaking, Bruce had already stopped her with two words.

His tone was terse and cold. It was obvious that he did not want her to go on.

Hilla was startled by him suddenly, and instead, she couldn’t help but say, "Bruce, are you jealous?"

It was fine if she didn’t ask. The man who lay flat suddenly turned his back to her and did not want to talk to her. It was obvious that his thoughts were seen through and he didn’t want to admit it.

Hilla immediately laughed happily. She was not sleepy at all. Now, she was even more spirited. She directly pounced on Bruce and said with delight, "Bruce, are you really jealous?"

"Go down!"

"I don’t."

"Go down."

"I want to sleep like this tonight."

The young girl lay on the mature man who hadn’t had sex for a long time. If he didn’t do anything to her, he wouldn’t be a real man.

Hilla fell down when Bruce turned over, and then he clutched her to him through the dark gauze. He lowered his head and whispered huskily, "Don’t you know how dangerous it is for a girl to sleep on a man?"

She didn’t know at first, but now she knew!

Hilla put her hands in front of her chest nervously, and her eyes rolled around innocently. She said in a low voice, "Are you going to do something to me?"

Originally, he did not want to do anything. Hearing her husky voice and seeing her exceptionally delicate body, he really wanted to do something.

"Bruce, I’m still young!"

Hilla quickly covered her face with her hands. Although she knew that he couldn’t see her blushing in the dark, she couldn’t help but feel shy.

The man’s deep laugh came. Bruce teased, "A twenty-year-old girl is not young anymore!"

"No, no, I’m too young. You should like mature women, and you won’t be interested in young girls like me. Even if you have sex with me, you won’t feel happy."

"You’re wrong. Don’t you know that men all like young and energetic girls as we get older?"

"Bruce, you can’t, you, you ... can’t!"

Looking at her uneasy look, Bruce chuckled. Then he turned over and stopped teasing her. He picked up the quilt and said calmly, "Go to sleep!" The coming days would be long. Anyway, he was not in a hurry because Hilla was always with him.

Soon, the room became quiet. Hilla grabbed the quilt and was very nervous at first, but after a long time, she fell asleep unconsciously.

In her dream, she seemed to float into a warm cloud and was slowly kissed on the cheek and lips.

The warmth and sweetness permeated her body.

"Hilla!"

It was a slightly familiar and cold voice. Hilla raised her head and looked at handsome Rigel in front of her. She couldn’t help but be stunned. Then, she smiled and said, "Rigel!"

It must be fate. To her surprise, she met Rigel in the Anderson Group. She did not know what to say.

"Rigel, why are you in the Anderson Group?"

"What about you? Why are you here?"

Both of them asked with a tacit understanding and then smiled at each other. Rigel said, "I’m here for an internship."

He majored in architectural design which just matched the fourth department of the Anderson Group. Therefore, it was not strange that Rigel appeared here.

The thing that he could work here showed his ability. Unlike him, Hilla pulled some strings and worked in the enterprise.

"Me too, but I’m an assistant transferred from the fashion design department."

Hilla smiled in embarrassment. People who majored in fashion design should stay in the fashion department, but Hilla was transferred to the architectural design department to be an assistant. Rigel raised his good-looking eyebrows, but did not say much.

"I fought with someone in the fashion department, so I’m transferred here." He didn’t intend to ask her, but Hilla couldn’t help saying this.

Rigel looked at Hilla calmly, because he knew that she may indeed fight with others with her temper, and the people who fought with her would definitely come to no good end.

"Rigel, aren’t you curious? How is the person who fought with me? Why am I not fired?"

Rigel did not need to ask. With her petty tricks, she naturally had the ability to not be dismissed by the Anderson Group. As for one who fought with her, he naturally would not have a good end.

"I’m new here so I’m not familiar with this enterprise. Let’s have lunch together later!"

Rigel said frankly. Hilla was stunned for a moment and then nodded with a smile, "OK."

In order to integrate with the Anderson Group as soon as possible, she could only stand Bruce up first!

Seeing Hilla tilting her head, handsome Rigel slightly closed his eyes and smiled indulgently.

...

At lunchtime, Rigel and Hilla came to the canteen.

They sat together, talking and laughing. Anyone passing by would think they made a good match.

Rigel gazed at Hilla with affection and Hilla beamed brightly. They looked so happy that the crowds around started to envy them.

They acted as though there were only two of them in this canteen.

After lunch, Hilla sat back at the table, sorting out the thick stacks of documents.

Copying, sketching, and sorting. These were not difficult for her.

By the time she was done, it was already dark outside.

"It’s so late. Let me send you home!"

Rigel appeared in front of her. His tall figure blocked lights, casting a shadow on her.

Hilla narrowed her eyes and revealed a polite smile to Rigel. "Thanks, Rigel. But I drove here today. There is no need."

"Then you need to give me a lift. I took the bus this morning and it’s raining outside."

Rigel made the request and looked at Hilla with his puppy dog eyes for permission.

Only then did Hilla look out of the window and find it was pouring, the raindrops trickling down the glasses.

It was very late. "Bruce should be off work already!" Hilla thought.

Hilla took out her phone, only to find that an enormous amount of messages and calls from Bruce, which she missed because her phone was muted.

She was toast! Bruce must get pissed off.

Without checking the message carefully, Hilla hurriedly threw her phone into her bag and grabbed her things, urging, "Rigel, let’s go. My family is waiting for me. I’ll drive you home first."

Seeing Hilla flustered and nervous, Rigel was a little surprised. He said, "My home is very close. Perhaps you are on the way."

"Really? That’s great."

If she headed back home quickly now, Bruce would probably forgive her. She must go back as soon as possible.

"Do I need to explain to your family about it?"

Rigel was really considerate. However, Bruce was such a green- eyed monster, if he heard Rigel’s voice, he would not let her go easily when she got home.

"No need. Thank you! I just need to go back quickly."

"Okay. You’d better drive carefully in the rainy night."

To Rigel’s concern and warning, Hilla just nodded subconsciously and hurriedly enter the elevator.

"Please shut up and hurry up. Let’s go back soon, okay?" Hilla thought.

Inside the parking lot.

James cast a glance at the rearview mirror to see Bruce who was sitting behind. Then he asked, "Mr. Anderson do I need to go up and ask Mrs. Anderson to come down?"

"No need. She will come down after she is done."

Bruce answered and turned his eyes to the elevator entrance and then back to the bright red Maserati.

"Mrs. Anderson comes out..."

James regretted what he said as soon as he finished. Besides Hilla, there was also a handsome young man. They were talking and laughing, looking particularly familiar.

Rigel helped Hilla take her handbag so that Hilla could take out the key. Without looking back, James already knew Bruce who sat behind silently was extremely furious.

He cleared his throat and tried to explain, "Mrs. Anderson is newer and easygoing. They probably came across each other on the way and will separate when she gets on her car."

James talked to himself awkwardly, but before he finished his words, he saw Hilla and the young man get on her car together.

Then they chatted and laughed, leaving away...

James dumbfounded!

James’s mind was in a mess and he felt like he was about to cry.

James felt his heart almost jump out of his throat. Bruce who sat behind didn’t say anything until the red Maserati pulled out of the parking lot.

"Go!"

The voice was deep and hoarse with obvious anger in it.

Without hesitation, James pressed on the accelerator and turned the steering wheel, the car charging out of the parking lot.

In the darkness, a red car ran in the rain and finally pulled into the yard of the Anderson’s.

"You’re back!"

Hilla pushed open the door and saw a pale face and big wide eyes staring at her. At the same time, a bolt of sudden lightning flashed across the sky, which almost scared her to faint.

Margaret smoothed the mask on her face with her hands and rolled her eyes at Hilla. "You’re back so late and look afraid. Did you cheat on Bruce?"

Margaret used to say such words to her with hostile but now Hilla knew she asked just out of curiosity. Margaret leaned toward Hilla, her eyes shining for gossip, which made Hilla speechless.

Hilla passed her swiftly and hurried to the stairs. "I still have something to deal with. Good night."

"Don’t worry, Bruce hasn’t come back yet."

"Didn’t he? It was so late." Hilla was somewhat surprised.

Hilla stopped and turned to look at Margaret. She looked into Margaret’s eyes intensely to confirm whether it was true or a trick.

"Bruce ... did he really not come back?"

"Why would I lie to you? You come back so lately even as an assistant. Bruce is in charge of a company. Shouldn’t he be busier? What’s more, every successful man stays out at night. You will get used to it later."

Margaret waved her hand and shuffled up the stairs with a careless face. "Bruce is her brother not husband. Of course, she does not care." Hilla thought.

Hilla headed to her room and when she opened the door of her bedroom which was quiet and neat, she felt for the first time empty in her heart.

In the past half- year, on the flat bed, there would always be someone waiting for her when she came back. Sometimes, he was asleep and sometimes he would sit here and quickly cast a glance at her when she entered the room.

Hilla stroke the smooth and cold sheets. No one had stayed on it during the day.

This half of the bed belonged to Bruce, and the other half was hers.

She glanced at the clock and then looked out of the window. It was raining heavily. She wished she could have gone upstairs to see if he was done when she left the company.

Hilla took her clothes and went to the bathroom. After taking a bath, she found Bruce still didn’t come back. The bed was flat and the whole room was quiet.

Bruce stayed out!

Hilla couldn’t help but pick up her phone. She didn’t receive any new messages from Bruce. Then she started to look through the messages that Bruce had sent to her. There was one saying: Wait for you at the garage!

Wasn’t he still waiting there?

Hilla shivered and quickly called back. The phone rang a few times before it was

picked up, but on the other side was a voice of a woman!
