CHAPTER 98: FAVORITISM

After a night, Hilla totally refreshed.

When Bruce went downstairs, Hilla had already got changed. She sat on the sofa in the living room and smiled purely when she saw Bruce.

Bruce was kind of surprised. He went forward to sit beside her, but as soon as he sat down, Hilla stood up and said, "It’s time to go to work."

Bruce wondered whether Hilla sat here just to wait for him to go to work together. But before he could figure it out, Hilla smiled and said, "Let’s go, Mr. Anderson!"

Hilla looked so cheerful and pure. When the sunlight shone on her, her entire body seemed to be covered in a layer of gold. However, she was completely different from the girl who stood gently in the cold wind last night.

In just one night, she changed completely.

Hilla held Bruce’s arm and walked out.

Actually, she pushed Bruce to walk out.

"Have you eaten?"

Bruce allowed Hilla to pull him out while carefully observing her expression.

Then he saw Hilla moved her eyes and said with a smile, "How about we go out for breakfast today? We can eat a lot of delicious food."

It seemed that the only thing she cared about was food. But Bruce knew she was pretended. Then he said slightly, "Alright!"

No matter what Hilla wanted to do, Bruce would support her.

Although Hilla was smiling, he could saw the sadness in her eyes.

He was the only one who understood Hilla because he had heard her cry at night.

He knew that Hilla would pretend to be very happy in front of others. However, the happier she smiled, the sadder she was. Others didn’t understand her, but he understood!

They ate breakfast outside and returned to the company.

"Hilla, are you alright?"

When Rigel saw Hilla, he was kind of nervous. But he soon calmed down and asked thoughtfully.

Hilla smiled and said happily, "I’m fine!"

Rigel was surprised by the answer because he heard that Hilla got on Rudi’s car last night. He regretted getting off work so early last night. He should have waited for her for a while. It was all because of that person, she was back.

"Was Rudi sent you back last night?"

Rigel could not help but ask the question.

Hilla was stunned for a moment. She thought that she had forgotten this after a night. It turned out that she didn’t. However, she thought better of it and relaxed a lot.

"He should have sent me back, but something came up, so he left first."

Rigel heaved a sigh of relief. At the same time, the people around couldn’t help but feel disdainful.

They thought Hilla would feel shameful for being left by Rudi.

Those who were jealous of Hilla were so angry when they heard that Hilla got in Rudi’s car. But now they were so happy that Rudi left her.

Some of them even said hypocritically, "Hilla, don’t be upset. We all know Rudi is a playboy. Although he has many beautiful foreign girlfriends, you are different. You might still have a chance after he comes back."

Hilla could feel the one’s abuse, sarcasm, and even encouragement at the same time.

She couldn’t help but feel ridiculous.

Last night, she punched Rudi. He at least needed to be in hospital for a month. With such severe injuries, he couldn’t look for other girlfriends for the moment.

As for the chance, she didn’t care about it at all.

Hilla laughed out.

These words were so ridiculous. But others detested the laugh, and they thought she was thinking of how to seduce Rudi.

They envied Hilla because she got in Rudi’s car. They hoped they could have the chance, but they couldn’t.

So they blamed all these on Hilla. In their mind, all the men in this company were bewitched by her beauty.

"Hilla doesn’t need such an opportunity at all."

A woman said with a low and unpleasant voice. She attracted all the attention of The Fourth Design Department.

Julie, who wore a pair of limited edition high-heeled shoes, walked straight towards them superciliously.

The smell of expensive perfume from Micronland made everyone in the Design Department kind of terrified.

Julie was in charge of all the designers in the Design Department of the Anderson Group. Although she was just a manager, she had the right of a director.

Julie was the manager on the surface, but the Fourth Design Department was directly managed by Rudi.

Hilla knew this after punching Bruce. She only regretted that she had hit him too late. She should have done this before the design drawing was out.

Julie walked in front of Hilla. Others in the Design Department whispered.

"Miss Green."

Hilla called out politely, but she only heard a sneer.

"Hilla, I underestimated you. You are so capable."

Obviously, Julie knew that Rudi had been beaten into the hospital. And it seemed that she also knew who the culprit was and deliberately went to find trouble with Hilla.

Hilla wondered whether Julie was going to revenge for Rudi.

What an unreasonable couple.

Hilla raised her eyebrows and smiled, "Miss Green, don’t be too modest. You are more capable than me."

Julie was even angrier. The surrounding people gulped.

They didn’t expect Hilla, who looked so vulnerable, to be such a hard nut. She even dared to argue with Julie, who was most likely to marry Rudi!

Among all Rudi’s girlfriends, Julie was the most capable one. No one dared to provoke her, even Rudi would follow her opinions sometimes.

The others thought Hilla was crazy.

"You are stubborn."

Julie sneered. She looked oppressive with thick makeup and a black tight suit and dress.

But for Hilla, she was just a furious woman whose boyfriend had been punched.

The more angry Julie was, the more severely Rudi was injured. Although Hilla didn’t beat Rudi with all her strength, she still made him in hospital. She felt so good.

A man who didn’t respect women should be beaten up!

...

Julie was angry, but Hilla had a humble attitude and smiled happily.

And this made Julie even more annoyed!

Hilla, who appeared to be innocent and harmless, showed no timidity and fear when confronting Julie who looked so strong.

Rigel frowned as he watched this. A war between women?

For a moment, he couldn’t figure out why Julie was so hostile to Hilla. Then it occurred to him that Rudi was the reason why.

If this was not because of that playboy, who else could it be?

Rigel put on a serious face. Did Hilla have something to do with Rudi?

"How can Miss Green know that I’m stubborn or not? You are not interested in me and you don’t like women, do you?"

Hilla’s tease made people around them feel extremely embarrassed.

Was there going to be a war?

Hilla and Julie are so mismatched.

There was no doubt that Hilla would lose for sure.

"You are quite plausible. But we’ll see how you can talk your way out of this."

Julie glanced at Hilla coldly and said, "Come with me!"

Julie was the manager of the company, so how could she let her subordinates laugh at her because of an assistant?

Although it wouldn’t take her much effort to bring Hilla down, it was still degrading if all these employees knew that she brought herself down to the same level as an assistant.

Even if she wanted to deal with Hilla, she had to find a place where no one was around and do it secretly.

Hilla followed up. Rigel took her by her arm and shook his head. He then said to Hilla, "Don’t go. You are no match for her."

Hilla smiled and patted Rigel on his arm. She pulled her hand away and said, "Thank you for worrying about me, Rigel. But I can take care of myself."

Rigel stood rooted to the ground in a daze. His arm, which had been patted by Hilla, went numb.

Was he hamstrung by Hilla?

When he realized this, he felt a sense of relief. That was a load off his mind.

He remembered that he had never seen Hilla lose out since he met her.

Julie brought Hilla to the rooftop terrace. This was the first time that Hilla had come here. She was both surprised and curious.

The air here was much fresher without the car exhaust downstairs, which made Hilla feel refreshed.

However, Julie didn’t bring her here to admire the scenery but to punish her.

Julie stood in the middle of the roof and asked Hilla with an icy stare, "You hired someone to beat Rudi up, right? You are the reason why Rudi is now in the hospital."

Next month, the bank would auction the land in Hosdol where a new airport will be built. If they could buy the land, they would have a bigger chance of bidding for supporting industries of the new airport. But at this point, Rudi was hospitalized!

The most hateful thing was that a week ago, she had just met Rudi’s parents. She was getting closer and closer to becoming Mrs. Anderson.

But Hilla derailed her plan. Rudi even sent her away to be alone with Hilla. How could she put up with it?

All this made Julie feel that the promises made by Hilla were not trustworthy.

This is a crucial time, so she won’t allow anyone to disrupt her plans.

Julie narrowed her eyes and stared at Hilla’s young and gorgeous face. For the first time, she felt threatened.

However, Hilla ignored Julie’s anxiety and aggressiveness. She still had a smile on her face. Then she said, "Miss Green, I didn’t do that."

Because she didn’t hire anyone. She beat Rudi up herself.

Julie knew that Hilla wouldn’t admit it so easily and didn’t reply to that.

Instead, she said, "Rudi tried to hit on you and you felt offended. I get it."

Hilla raised his eyebrows. She didn’t expect that Julie could be so "reasonable" when she was furious.

"But no matter how much you felt offended, you, an assistant can’t beat him up. Do you know how much trouble this will cause to the Anderson Group?"

"Miss Green, what are you talking about? Mr. Anderson went on a business trip abroad, didn’t he? And I didn’t hire anyone to hit him. I’m telling the truth."

Julie just didn’t believe it.

Julie went into a sulk and sneered, "Do you think you can muddle through by playing dumb? How can a girl like you offend the Anderson family? Even if I don’t send you to the police station today, I will still make it impossible for you to stay in River City."

Of course, it was impossible to send Hilla to the police station because Julie had no evidence at all. Rudi couldn’t even speak clearly now. Even if he could, he wouldn’t

tell the truth.

If she had not overheard Lysa’s complaints in the hospital today, she would not have known that Hilla did all this.

However, Julie did not understand why Tyree chose to stay out of this when Lysa told him about what happened to Rudi and threw Lysa out.

She didn’t hear everything clearly outside the door, but she found out the culprit.

Because of Hilla, her plan of becoming Mrs. Anderson was postponed and Rudi was badly injured. How could she let Hilla get away with this?

"Since you have offended the Anderson family, don’t blame me for not showing any mercy."

As soon as Julie finished speaking, two security guards ran out of nowhere and subdued Hilla.

"Miss Green, don’t tell me you want to kill me by throwing me off the roof!"

Hilla glanced at Julie and sneered, "Miss Green wants to punish me for offending the Anderson family. Then what do you have to do with the Anderson family?"

"This is none of your business."

Soon, she would marry Rudi and become Mrs. Anderson.

The strong wind on the roof made Julie look even more arrogant and domineering.

However, in the whistling sound of the wind, a cold and indifferent voice was heard. "It is none of her business. How about me, Miss Green?"

It sounded well-paced and calm.

Hilla was so familiar with this voice, and when she heard it, she felt a fit of joy.

Bruce walked slowly towards her. Looking at Bruce who was surrounded by a group of people, Hilla had a big smile on her face.

Excellent timing!

James was also in the crowd. He was checking safety equipment together with Bruce. When he saw how cool and badass Bruce was and heard what Bruce had just said, he knew for sure that Bruce was going to defend his wife out of favoritism.
