Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!
Chapter 11: Blank Relationship History
CHAPTER 11: CHAPTER 11: BLANK RELATIONSHIP HISTORY
His room was right next to hers. After finishing her shower, she slid open the glass door to her room intending to catch some breeze on the balcony, only to find out that the two rooms shared a connected balcony.
But his curtains were pulled tightly shut, so apart from faint light, nothing else could be seen.
Suddenly, the curtains "whoosh" open, and their eyes met.
"Want to come in for the bridal chamber?" he asked.
Audrey Sutton, who was sneaking a peek while crouching, had no time to adjust her stealthy pose. She was stunned for a second before hurriedly backing away, stammering, "Who... who wants to share a bridal chamber with you!"
Looking at his teasing smile, Audrey Sutton felt defeated, her face flushed as she swiftly retreated into her room.
Just the thought of being separated by merely a wall from her male idol made her blush and her heart pounded for a long time.
Finally, when night fell and all was quiet, she surrendered to sleepiness, clutching her fluffy rabbit plushie and drifted off.
Gentle footsteps approached from the balcony, and a shadow appeared by the glass door.
Shane Warner glanced inside, seeing her sleeping sweetly, he felt relieved.
He had been worried that she might find it hard to sleep in a new environment, but it seemed she could sleep soundly anywhere without a care in the world.
Why did he think she was carefree?
Because he hurried home tonight, wrapping up his engagements early, only to wait hours in an empty room.
Turns out she was having a great time outside.
Bzzz— Bzzz— The phone in his pocket buzzed. Not wanting to wake her, Shane Warner turned back to his room to answer it.
On the other end: "Master Shane, why did you ask me to investigate your wife? Have you been cuckolded right after getting married? Could it be..."
Shane Warner coldly interrupted, dismissing the notion, "You’re talking too much?"
Faye Xavier then spoke seriously, "I checked. Your wife hasn’t cheated, hasn’t had an abortion, hasn’t..."
"Did I ask you to check those things?"
The eerie tone over the phone made Faye Xavier stutter, "N... No, didn’t you ask me to investigate your wife’s love life?"
Shane Warner: "I asked you to look into her past relationships."
Faye Xavier promptly answered, "Her romantic history is blank."
"Blank?" Shane Warner was puzzled; he thought she might have had a fight with a boyfriend which led her to impulsively agree to this marriage.
Faye Xavier couldn’t help but tease, "Seriously, Master Shane, you’re nearly thirty and have no romantic history, isn’t it normal for a twenty-year-old girl not to have dated?"
"Beep beep beep—"
As he found his call abruptly ended, Faye Xavier muttered, "This foul temper will scare his sweet little wife away sooner or later!"
The next morning, Shane Warner was awakened by the noise from downstairs.
Coming down, he saw a figure busy around the counter.
In the open kitchen, as he noticed her, she also saw him.
Audrey Sutton carefully placed the cooked egg onto a plate and then blew on her scalded finger, saying, "Go freshen up; breakfast will be ready soon."
Shane Warner approached, taking in the messy counter but held off making any comments, instead asking, "Are you always this industrious at home?"
"Of course." Her answer was firm, though her tone was slightly guilty.
Shane Warner merely chuckled and, heading upstairs, said, "Call me when it’s ready."
Watching him leave, Audrey Sutton finally breathed a sigh of relief, then placed the slightly burnt fried egg onto her own plate.
After meticulously arranging the food and tidying the counter a bit, Audrey Sutton headed upstairs to call him.
Hearing noise from an open room, Audrey Sutton went in to find a room filled with gym equipment, where he was running on a treadmill.
Wearing a loose white T-shirt and having a white towel around his neck, his clothes were already soaked with sweat, fragrant sweat... oh no, profuse sweat.
His figure was truly impressive, not to mention his handsome face, tall stature, perfect proportions, and muscular build. It’s a pity he couldn’t be her life model.
Audrey Sutton suddenly trembled, lost in wild thoughts. What was she thinking?!
Quickly regaining focus, she knocked on the door, "Um... breakfast is ready."
"Okay." Not turning around, he kept running to finish his preset time.
Audrey Sutton waited downstairs for him as he showered and came down dressed in a suit.
Shane Warner sat opposite her, glancing at the plated breakfast that he couldn’t name, it was a fried egg wrap with many fillings and even a small tart.
But it looked pretty good, much better than he had expected.
"Did you study this?" Shane Warner asked after sitting down.
Audrey Sutton stood nearby, bashfully smiling, "My grandma taught me. She said cooking isn’t necessarily about becoming a housewife after marriage but being able to take care of yourself when there’s no one around."
Shane Warner raised his eyebrow slightly, picking up the nearby spoon and tasted it; it wasn’t bad.
She was completely different from what he imagined; he thought someone from her background would be spoiled with a tricky and unreasonable personality and incapable of anything.
Now it seemed he needed to learn more about this treasure of a girl.
Having finished all the food on his plate, Shane Warner wiped his mouth with a napkin and asked her while she was still eating, "What time is your class?"
"Ten o’clock."
"Then I won’t take you there; I have a meeting at nine. Clear the table, and we’ll have lunch together; I’ll come to find you."
Not waiting for Audrey Sutton to respond, he grabbed his car keys and headed out.
Audrey Sutton tidied up the table and got ready for school; meanwhile, she received a WhatsApp message from Hazel Yates on the "Lucky Nine Treasures" group chat: "Everyone come home for dinner tonight, second brother is bringing his girlfriend."
Audrey Sutton frowned; her second brother, the steadfast bachelor, found a girlfriend?
In the school’s art room, Audrey Sutton was still practicing life drawing.
Barry Barrett was observing her from behind for a while; she was so focused that she hadn’t noticed.
"Comrade Sutton, who are you drawing?"
Startled, Audrey Sutton instinctively shielded the drawing in front of her.
"Why the secrecy? Who hasn’t drawn a life study?" Barry Barrett said, tilting his head to stare at the sketched cartoon figure on the canvas, furrowing his brows, "This person looks familiar, let me think which celebrity it is."
"Hmm~" Barry Barrett pondered for a few seconds and then brightened, "It looks like Third Young Master Warner!"
Audrey Sutton’s face instantly turned red, quickly denying, "How can that be? I just sketched it randomly, it’s just for practice!"
Barry Barrett laughed slyly, taking a knowing yet unspoken tone, eyeing the prominent depicted figure, "Your husband has a great physique."
"I said it’s not him! I just doodled!"
Truthfully, after seeing Shane Warner in the gym that morning, the image kept resurfacing in her mind when she took up the pen, hence this drawing before her.
Of course, she would never admit she drew him.
