CHAPTER 23: CHAPTER 23: SILVER RING

Audrey Sutton was sitting on the toilet playing a mobile game when she received the message.

She immediately exited the game and replied, "Back at the hotel."

Then she quickly asked, "What style of suit do you like?"

In no time, two words popped up in the chat box: "Anything, send a photo I’ll take a look."

Audrey Sutton: "Come back and see for yourself."

In the meeting room.

"President Warner?"

Faye Xavier gently nudged Shane Warner with her elbow, softly reminding him, "Master Shane!"

Only then did Shane Warner put his phone away, along with the faint smile on his face. Looking up at the person in charge across from him, he said, "The proposal is feasible, I have no objections. Let’s talk about the rest once the design draft is out."

As night gradually devoured the remnants of the sunset, Audrey Sutton hit the send button on her email, stretched in her chair, and finally completed her tasks for the week.

She got up and walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, looking at the hustle and bustle on the street below.

Audrey Sutton tapped open X, saw the "+1 follower" symbol, checked it out, and found it was a small account named "Sutton2719," seemingly a randomly suggested name from the system due to a common name.

Hearing a noise from outside, Audrey Sutton immediately got up and left the room, seeing Shane Warner enter with two boxes in his hands.

"So well-behaved today? Staying in the room all this time?"

Audrey Sutton: "I have work too, you know?"

Shane Warner’s mind immediately jumped to the thought of a bunny becoming a handsome man: "Drawing smut all day?"

"And were you flirting with your little secretary all day?"

Shane Warner took off his suit jacket, loosened his tie, and looked at her with a smile that was not quite a smile, asking, "Do you really take me for a gigolo?"

"To be honest, with your looks, you’d probably earn quite a bit."

Shane Warner smiled and moved closer to her, supporting one hand on the cabinet next to her head, leaning in with a low, seductive voice: "Are you implying you want to hire me?"

Audrey Sutton was taken aback, blushing as she pushed him away: "The distinguished Third Young Master of The Warner, I can’t afford you."

There was a hint of rogue charm in Shane Warner’s smile that wasn’t usually there: "First night on the job, there’s a promotion, first experience free."

Although Audrey Sutton could share dirty jokes with her girlfriends, she became timid around men, blushing to the tips of her ears.

Seeing her shy demeanor, Shane Warner’s smile took on an extra layer of satisfaction. Then, he placed the two boxes he had brought on the living room table and said to Audrey Sutton, "Enough teasing, I brought you something to eat. Go ahead and eat, I’ll take a shower."

Audrey Sutton thought he had forgotten about dinner, but surprisingly, he remembered to bring back something delicious for her.

Up to now, she felt that Shane Warner treated her quite well, but that kind of goodness didn’t feel like the love between lovers; rather, it felt like the care of an elder for a younger family member.

In simple terms, Audrey Sutton felt like she had gained a brother.

Marriage seemed to have brought her and Shane Warner closer, but in reality, there was still a long way to go to truly establish their relationship as a married couple, and Audrey Sutton felt she still had a long way to go.

Halfway through the meal, Shane Warner emerged from his room.

He was still in his silk robe, holding an empty wine glass as he approached the lounge’s liquor cabinet, selecting a bottle of red wine.

Watching him open the wine and pour it into the glass, Audrey Sutton noticed not the purplish-red wine, nor his long, well-defined fingers that could satisfy hand admirers’ desires, but the silver ring on his left index finger.

He seemed to always have that ring on. She remembered noticing it during the ring exchange at their wedding.

It looked very ordinary, with no decorations on the band, but the fact that he never took it off must mean it held some significance for him.

As he walked over with the wine glass and sat on the sofa beside Audrey Sutton, he picked up the remote and turned on the TV.

It was on a foreign news channel, all in French, which Audrey Sutton couldn’t understand at all.

"Shane Warner." She called his name.

Shane Warner turned his head silently toward her.

Audrey Sutton’s gaze fell on his ring, asking, "Why don’t you wear the wedding ring?"

Shane Warner glanced at her bare fingers and countered, "Why don’t you wear it?"

Audrey Sutton: "It’s inconvenient for drawing, and... the ring is too big, it doesn’t fit well."

The latter was the main point.

Shane Warner said, "I draw too, and it’s inconvenient to wear it."

Audrey Sutton promptly asked, "So what’s that on your left hand?"

Seeing Audrey Sutton’s concerned look, Shane Warner knew she probably suspected it was a gift from another woman, secretly feeling jealous, so he mildly responded, "It’s my brother’s ring. He wore it all the time when he was alive."

Audrey Sutton immediately understood, her gaze showing a hint of remorse.

She lowered her head, pondering as she ate her meal, seemingly wanting to ask something but not knowing how to start.

"Want to go for a walk tonight? The night view is pretty nice around here." Shane Warner changed the subject, breaking the long silence.

Audrey Sutton was naturally willing, nodding and then headed to her room to retrieve the clothes she had bought and handed them to him, saying, "Try them on to see if the size fits. If not, we can take it to exchange later."

After handing him the bag, Audrey Sutton added nervously, "If you don’t like the style, you can also exchange it."

Watching Shane Warner take the clothes out of the bag, she was sure he would dislike the stripes and refuse, but he showed no unusual reaction, even undoing the belt of his robe in front of Audrey to change.

Audrey Sutton was momentarily stunned, then realized he was about to change clothes, and immediately turned her back, walking towards her room: "I’ll go put on some makeup, call me when you’re done."

When Audrey Sutton came out of the room again, Shane Warner had already changed, sitting on the sofa, watching TV, waiting for her.

Audrey Sutton glanced over, thinking he might not like stripes, but the suit looked excellent on him. Mainly because he was handsome and well-built, he could probably make even a sheet look good.

Although she was quite pleased, Audrey Sutton still worriedly asked, "How is it? Do you like it?"

He turned off the TV, stood up, glanced over her, and lightly nodded, "Not bad, but the skirt is a bit short."

Realizing he misunderstood, Audrey Sutton quickly corrected, "I meant the suit."

He raised an eyebrow slightly, asking back, "Do you like it?"

Audrey Sutton hesitated for a moment, then nodded, "I think it looks really good."

"That’s fine then, it fits well."

Audrey Sutton suddenly felt like she had defeated Lan Irving this time, her mood lifted immediately: "Then let’s go."

Shane Warner slightly frowned, "Go change the skirt."

Audrey Sutton looked down at the skirt she was wearing: "It’s the only outfit I brought."

"Then wear the pants from yesterday."

"They’re washed and not dry yet."

"Then wear a longer coat."

Audrey Sutton: "... Didn’t bring one."

Shane Warner sighed helplessly, saying in a muffled voice, "Let’s go."
