CHAPTER 26: CHAPTER 26: YIN, I’M BACK

The nightclub was bustling with dazzling lights and vibrant music as night fell.

In the dance floor, a group of handsome men and beautiful women swayed their bodies to the rhythm, releasing their stress.

Audrey Sutton was among them, holding hands and shaking her head passionately with Barry Barrett.

Flora must have set her sights on another unlucky young man; she disappeared with her wine glass in hand.

"Anna?"

"Anna!"

Above the blaring music, there was someone faintly calling out the name. Audrey Sutton heard it but didn’t react immediately.

Until someone patted her on the shoulder: "Anna! What a coincidence, never thought I’d run into you here."

Audrey Sutton saw the familiar Western face and remembered meeting the animation director at a French ball.

She had given the name Anna Sutton but hadn’t reacted when hearing Anna earlier.

"It’s too noisy here, shall we go over there and talk?" Spencer Forrest leaned in, gesturing to a spot.

Audrey Sutton hesitated for a moment, notified Barry Barrett, and followed Spencer Forrest to an empty spot to sit down.

"Mr. Forrest, how come you are here too?"

Spencer Forrest chuckled, "This bar is owned by a friend of mine. I just got back today to visit him but didn’t expect to meet you here, a delightful surprise."

Audrey Sutton chuckled awkwardly, unsure of what to say as she hadn’t anticipated seeing him again.

"Is your husband not here with you?" Spencer Forrest inquired.

"Oh, I came out to play with a few friends today; he didn’t come." Audrey Sutton paused, then asked, "Did you know my husband before?"

"Third Young Master Warner’s name isn’t unknown to many people, right? Plus, my classmate Sean used to mention his brother quite often."

"Sean is...?" Audrey Sutton pursued, puzzled.

Spencer Forrest seemed surprised by her question, "You don’t know? Sean Warner, Third Young Master’s older brother. He would have been quite distinguished if he were still alive."

Audrey Sutton hadn’t anticipated Spencer Forrest knowing Shane Warner’s older brother, precisely what she was curious about.

She didn’t want to directly ask Shane, and another insider Vincent Warner, Shane had asked her to limit her contact with him, but Spencer Forrest suddenly popped up.

Audrey Sutton mused and spoke, "I’ve heard my husband mention it briefly, not clear on the details. Do you know... what happened to him?"

Spencer Forrest shrugged nonchalantly, "Seemed like a traffic accident; that was the case closed statements back then. But whether there’s more to it, as outsiders, we really can’t say."

"By the way, Anna, I’ll be staying around to develop here, feel free to hang out together. You didn’t contact me after I gave you my card last time."

Audrey Sutton dismissed her thoughts with a thin smile, "Been busy lately, forgot about many things."

"Why don’t you give me your number this time?"

Audrey Sutton hesitated, Spencer Forrest seemed aware of her reluctance, "Not convenient?"

Audrey Sutton laughed awkwardly, "...My husband is rather possessive, so..."

"Why don’t you find one with room for a ship in his heart?"

Hearing this chilly voice, Audrey Sutton immediately felt goosebumps, turning in shock to see the man appearing behind her, "What are you doing here?"

Shane Warner eyed Spencer Forrest sitting opposite Audrey Sutton, his gaze clearly carrying a hint of hostility, then coldly asked Audrey Sutton: "Is this the friend you mentioned? Birthday celebration?"

Audrey Sutton quickly waved her hands, about to speak, but Spencer Forrest chuckled and explained, "Mr. Warner, you’re mistaken. Anna and I just happened to catch up for a moment. Since you’re not very welcoming, I’ll take my leave, see you next time."

Watching Spencer Forrest walk away, Shane Warner casually muttered, "See you never."

Audrey Sutton mumbled, "He didn’t even do anything, why are you insulting him?"

Getting even more annoyed, Shane Warner stared at her white face painted with dark lipstick, in a sequin strap dress, and frowned, "What’s with what you’re wearing?"

Audrey Sutton frowned displeasedly, "Coming to a nightclub, am I supposed to wear school uniforms? Besides, why are you here? Out to pick up girls?"

As she asked, Audrey Sutton glanced around behind him, not spotting a certain assistant.

"Mind if I pick you up?"

Audrey Sutton was startled for a couple of seconds, then smiled and flirted, "Give it a try."

Shane Warner raised a brow lightly, feeling a tinge of electricity coursing through his body as she winked at him, making his heart feel ticklish and numbing.

He prided himself as not a lustful person, having quite a bit of self-control; even he felt stirred by her, any other man would probably have been infatuated already.

This was dangerous.

With that thought, Shane Warner immediately took off his coat, tossing it to her, "Put it on."

Audrey Sutton glanced at him, casually folded the thrown coat and placed it on her arm, "I’m not cold."

"I think you are, hurry up and wear it."

Just as Audrey Sutton opened her mouth to argue, he took back the coat and helped her arms into the sleeves.

Audrey Sutton frowned, stuffing her other arm by herself, "You’re only twenty-seven, eight, why so old-fashioned? Even my grandma accepts this.

As she brought up age, Shane Warner’s face grew darker, silently buttoning up his suit one by one: "Enough, go play."

Audrey Sutton looked visibly upset, shuffling her sleeves to reveal her hands, "How to play dressed like this?"

Shane Warner intentionally twisted her words, "As long as you don’t play with men, play however you like."

"Where are you going?"

"Curious?"

Audrey Sutton pouted, "Not at all."

"Then stop asking." He said coolly before turning to leave, heading towards the second floor, vanishing above the spiraling stairs.

Audrey Sutton felt a bit irked, why could he meddle in her matters, but she couldn’t in his?

She contemplated taking off the coat when suddenly felt a vibration from the pocket.

It was his cellphone in the coat pocket.

Although aware it’s wrong to snoop on a phone, curiosity led Audrey Sutton to pick it up.

She stared at the screen displaying a series of numbers, an unsaved number.

Audrey Sutton hesitated briefly and answered the call. Before she could speak, a female voice came through, "Shane, I’m back."

Hearing the intimate address, Audrey Sutton froze.

"Shane? Why not speak?"

Audrey Sutton compulsively asked, "Who are you?"

After a pause, a soft woman’s laugh echoed, "Time will tell."

The call ended, leaving Audrey Sutton staring at the phone screen for quite a while.

With that small assistant not dealt with yet, what new monster has appeared now?
