Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!
Chapter 382: On Edge
CHAPTER 382: CHAPTER 382: ON EDGE
Master Shane paused for a moment and said, "Protect her well."
On the other end of the phone, Faye Xavier was even more confused: "What? Protect Vincent Warner? Master Shane, are you okay?"
Master Shane simply repeated calmly, "Protect Audrey Sutton well."
After saying that, he hung up the phone.
Faye Xavier was stunned for a moment, thinking about how Shane usually calls her "wife" or "wifey," so why did he suddenly call her by her full name?
Are the two of them having a conflict again?
Faye Xavier sighed at these people troubled by love, then continued to keep his eyes on the restaurant entrance. He was hungry too, so he got out of the car and found a spot in the restaurant convenient for surveillance to sit down.
Before the waiter could bring over the menu, Faye Xavier saw Audrey Sutton not far away. He originally wanted to go over and greet her, but then he saw the man sitting opposite Audrey was Vincent Warner.
He grabbed his phone and took a couple of photos, preparing to send them to Master Shane, when suddenly he remembered.
Today, Master Shane had told him to follow Vincent Warner, and just now, he had inexplicably told him to protect his sister-in-law. Could it be that Master Shane knew they would meet, which is why he asked him to follow?
What is going on now?
Does Master Shane mean to allow them to meet?
Faye Xavier didn’t dare to go over and greet them. He changed to a more concealed position, secretly watching the two while mainly ensuring his sister-in-law’s safety.
On the other end, Audrey Sutton hadn’t noticed the pair of eyes secretly watching her and even thought that meeting Vincent Warner while Master Shane was on a business trip was the safest.
After ordering the food, Audrey Sutton got straight to the point: "Mr. Warner, actually, the reason I came to see you today is still about Shane’s brother."
Vincent Warner seemed to have anticipated her reason for contacting him, nodded, and said, "Ask, anything I know, I’ll tell you."
"...I just want to know what exactly happened that night? Why did Shane’s brother drive your car out?"
Vincent Warner sighed deeply and said, "Let me start from the beginning."
"Mm-hmm!"
"That day, a few close friends and I got together to celebrate graduation. In the evening, I drove to pick up Sean, and there were two other friends in the car. After we arrived, I had a bit to drink, and then your brother called, saying he had broken down on the road, got a tow truck to take his car, and asked me to drive over to pick him up. Sean saw that I had been drinking a bit, wasn’t comfortable with me driving, so he said he’d go pick him up. I handed him the car keys..."
This small gesture, you could say, changed their lives. So when Vincent Warner said this, he paused, lowered his gaze, took a deep breath, and then continued: "...And then, on the way, Sean had an accident, couldn’t pick up your brother, and he never came back..."
Audrey Sutton could see the regret and guilt in Vincent Warner at this moment. If he could do it all over again, he would probably wish that the person who died was himself.
After learning the ins and outs of the situation, Audrey felt even more upset because, in this case, although Shane Warner’s death had no direct connection with her brother, it wasn’t entirely unrelated either.
After all, Sean Warner had the accident while going to pick up her brother.
Why did she feel that the closer she got to the truth, the more complicated it became?
Audrey Sutton paused for a moment and asked, "My brother did indeed call you, right?"
Vincent Warner nodded, lowered his gaze, and took a sip of the wine beside him.
Audrey Sutton, sorting through the relations, felt that everything just happened by chance. No one knew her brother would encounter problems halfway, and no one knew that Shane Warner would end up going to pick up Stephen Sutton.
So whether Vincent Warner planned it or Stephen Sutton orchestrated it didn’t seem realistic.
She felt the only possibility was that someone sabotaged Vincent Warner’s car, intending to harm him. But who would’ve known Shane Warner would suddenly drive his car out?
Perhaps the direction to take was to find Vincent Warner’s enemies and figure out who wanted him dead.
The investigation had to continue because, with the current clues, there was no convincing evidence for Master Shane. He could reasonably suspect that her brother and Vincent Warner planned this together.
The only way was to catch the real culprit behind everything, figure out every detail, allowing the truth to surface, so she could live peacefully and uprightly with Master Shane.
Frankly, these past few days, she had been on edge, especially fearing that person would send Master Shane what she saw on the USB that day.
Without finding the truth, even if she had a hundred mouths, she couldn’t clarify.
And who is the person sending these things accusing her brother? What’s his goal? Is it truly a misunderstanding and he falsely accused her brother, or does he intentionally want to frame her brother?
If it’s the latter, she felt it was most likely someone deliberately trying to provoke conflict between her and Master Shane, igniting hatred between The Warners and The Suttons.
There are too many people capable of doing this, not only Clarissa Morgan wanting to cause trouble because of personal feelings but many people in the business world probably also want to see The Warner and The Sutton families turn against each other, weakening this tremendous power.
What’s urgent now isn’t catching the initial perpetrator but catching the true culprit from back then.
After dining with Vincent Warner, Audrey Sutton headed straight back to the dormitory.
Seeing that Master Shane hadn’t replied to her message, she frowned, feeling that even if he were busy, he’d usually take a moment to let her know. But she had sent a message over three or four hours ago, and there was still no response. Is he really that busy?
Audrey Sutton laid on the dorm bed, pondering, then sent him a message directly asking her doubt: "What are you doing? You haven’t responded to my messages."
Seeing that it was past two o’clock, even if he didn’t take a nap at noon, he’d still have to eat, right? There should be time to reply to her messages during a meal, shouldn’t there?
Could he have left his phone in the hotel?
Audrey Sutton wasn’t worried about him causing trouble outside. She thought there must be some reason he hadn’t replied. She decided to wait until the evening to see.
In the evening, rare for her, she didn’t have to go home early to cook, and Flora Lane wasn’t working either, so the four sisters went out for hot pot and a movie.
With something to pass the time, Audrey Sutton wouldn’t constantly be thinking about why Master Shane hadn’t replied to her messages.
It was past ten when she got home, and seeing he still hadn’t replied, she started getting anxious.
As soon as she got out of the car, she called him. The phone rang for a long time before he finally picked up.
Audrey Sutton, dissatisfied, grumbled, "What have you been up to today? You’ve not been responding to my messages!"
Master Shane calmly replied, "A lot on my plate."
"Then why did it take so long to answer my call just now?"
"I was taking a shower, heard the ring, and came out."
The explanation somewhat satisfied Audrey Sutton, her tone softened remarkably, and she expressed concern: "You’ve been busy all the way till now? Tired? Have you been eating well?"
