Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!
Chapter 39: My Wife Is a Jealous Pot
CHAPTER 39: CHAPTER 39: MY WIFE IS A JEALOUS POT
Audrey Sutton looked at him, smiling as she asked, "Why did you come?"
Shane glanced around her, not spotting any suspicious youngsters, casually saying, "Just passing by, saw the buzz and thought I’d take a look. Is this the exhibition you talked about?"
"It’s a comic convention! Why are you joining the excitement without really knowing? Aren’t you working today?"
Shane said, "Nothing much at the office, since I’m already here, might as well accompany you."
As Shane finished speaking, they heard someone in the crowd shout, "Hylan is here!"
Soon after, a crowd rushed in a particular direction, and Audrey excitedly grabbed Laura Yates and hurried over.
Shane: "..."
If General wasn’t wagging his tail, people might think Shane was holding a petrified dog.
He specifically came over to accompany her, yet she left him in the dust, who’s attracting her so much?
Standing still, he could see the crowd surrounding a large poster, but he didn’t inspect it closely. It only showed a woman, which immediately put him at ease.
He thought it might be some popular young man that she so eagerly abandoned him for.
Audrey originally intended to line up with the crowd, but Laura Yates pulled her away, whispering to her, "Are you dumb? I’m her editor! After the signing, I’ll get you a copy, and you still want to stand in line?"
Audrey awkwardly scratched her head, unable to resist taking another look at Hylan: "She’s really pretty in person!"
"Sure thing, every author I handle is a beauty."
Azure’s real name is Vanessa Sterling, the same age as Audrey, and she appears as a gentle and calm girl.
However, Audrey always felt this girl harbored stories; her smile seemed mixed with impurities, not genuinely happy.
Over there, Shane was with a dog and attracting onlookers.
"Can we take a picture together, handsome?" A girl in a Lolita outfit approached, standing in front of Shane and snapped a photo.
Shane frowned deeply; after the photo, the girl crouched down to pet General, "Such a good dog, handsome, what’s its name?"
The handsome man said nothing, leading the dog away coldly.
"Shane?"
A man’s voice interrupted Shane’s attempt to find Audrey Sutton.
"Since when are you interested in these?" The man asked curiously.
The visitor was Shane’s middle school classmate, Miles Sterling.
They also attended the same school while studying abroad.
The Sterling family was known for squandering wealth, living chaotic private lives, causing a string of troubles, but aside from being indulgent in matters of women, Miles was loyal to his friends.
Shane pointed his chin toward the signing event direction, saying, "I’m accompanying my wife for a stroll."
"I couldn’t believe it when Clarissa mentioned your marriage; I always thought she and you would end up together."
Shane smiled lightly, "Don’t say that anymore; my wife is jealous."
Miles understood with a smile, "I see, but I never thought Clarissa and Quentin Sterling would get together."
"Clarissa and Quentin?"
"You don’t know? I assumed Clarissa told you. Let’s chat another day when we’re free; I have to accompany my sweetheart." He said, leaving with a girl in cosplay held close.
Shane furrowed his brows thoughtfully.
Quentin Sterling was Miles’s second uncle, senior in rank but not old, just over thirty. He’s now the Sterling’s head, and Shane has had business dealings with him, considering them acquainted.
That day Clarissa mentioned she’s getting married; could it be with Quentin?
Clarissa being involved with Quentin was unexpected; she found herself a strong backer.
From what he understood about Clarissa, she’s not one to quietly settle in a marriage, more likely this marriage is part of her plans.
He looked at Audrey Sutton not far away with concern, uncertain about Clarissa’s schemes. However, if she ever dared to act against Audrey, Shane wouldn’t be polite.
"Audrey Sutton!"
Audrey, turning back impatiently from browsing merchandise, looking at him: "You’re still here?"
"Come over here." Shane’s commanding tone called her.
Audrey put her things down, puzzled as she trotted over: "What’s up? Aren’t you busy? Taking a dog for a walk when pets aren’t allowed inside."
"Then how did you get in?" Without waiting for Audrey to respond, Shane immediately said: "Show me around."
Audrey glanced at him: "You don’t know much about these, what do I show you?"
"Just to help me understand."
She was anxious to grab a limited edition BL art book, not wanting him to know she’s buying such things.
Audrey quickly thought and pointed to the opposite stall: "I want that figurine."
Following her direction, Shane took a look: "Buy it."
"It’s not just about buying; you help me line up first, I’ll go grab something nearby, then return!"
With that, she once again left him, quickly dashing to another stall and mixed into the crowd.
Shane watched people lining up behind him; he was stuck there unable to leave. Frowning at the lengthy queue, displeased, what’s this junk that needs queuing?
Someone captured the scene and posted on X: #ModelHusbandShaneWarner# Third Young Master Warner truly dotes on his wife; not many men queue to buy figurines for their wives.
After Audrey grabbed the art book, Vanessa Sterling’s signing session ended.
She forgot about Shane still in line, followed Laura Yates to the backstage to meet Vanessa Sterling.
Originally hoping to have a good chat with Vanessa, Audrey found her uncomfortable, leaving signed copies for Audrey and Laura, hurriedly leaving after a few words.
Soon, Barry Barrett pulled her to meet some friends in the comic circle, and they were lively chatting in a group.
Audrey suddenly remembered Shane: "Oh no! My husband!"
Barry: "Which husband? Did you grab one?"
"My real husband! Not joking with you guys, I’m leaving first."
Audrey rushed to the earlier stall, immediately spotting him and the dog.
His face was sullen, his eyes looked intimidating like they could eat someone.
Audrey cheerfully ran over, raising her fist to lightly pat his back, "I’m here! Thanks for your hard work!"
"Where did you go play?" His voice sinister when angry.
Audrey feigned a sigh: "I was trying to grab something but got nothing after all this time, so frustrating!"
He watched her unemotionally, evidently doubting her words.
Audrey noticed still dozens of people ahead; she wasn’t genuinely interested in the figurines, so she tentatively suggested to Shane: "How about not lining up?"
Shane’s face darkened further, Audrey sensed his little volcano about to erupt.
Promptly, she flattered him, "Still so many people ahead, by the time it’s our turn, the one I want might not be available. Let’s go out for food, my treat!"
She gleefully reached to take his dog leash; Shane watched General meekly follow her, and he too followed involuntarily.
Despite the simmering fury inside, unsure if he’s being played by her, her smile felt like a bucket of water instantly dousing his anger.
