CHAPTER 408: CHAPTER 408: SIS-IN-LAW HAS A GREAT FIGURE

The day Flora and the others arrived, Audrey Sutton thought they must be tired from their journey, so she didn’t take them out. Instead, they grilled some barbecue at home in the evening, and the sisters chatted on the rooftop until past one in the morning before going downstairs to rest.

The next day, the weather was pretty nice, not so sunny. Everyone wanted to go to the beach, and Audrey had been looking forward to it for so long, she was eager to have company at last.

She got them up early, at eight, though they dawdled until almost ten before heading out.

They still got Norman Sutton to be their driver and took them to a nearby beach.

This area wasn’t open to tourists. The tour guides wouldn’t bring visitors here, and among the many attractions on the island, this small beach wasn’t particularly appealing, so there weren’t many people around.

Audrey had originally planned to have her wedding here.

It just seemed that a wedding on Qixi wouldn’t be something she could hope for.

As soon as they got to the beach, the girls changed into swimsuits. Flora and Seraphina Vaughn wore bikinis, and with their figures, they were quite eye-catching.

Audrey and Barry Barrett opted for relatively conservative tank tops and short skirts.

Although Young Master Warner didn’t interfere with what she wore today, Audrey still felt a bit shy about wearing too little outdoors. The two swimsuits she had bought earlier were relatively modest.

There were plenty of tea rooms and cafes along the beach. Compared to packed tourist spots, it wasn’t crowded here, but not deserted either.

In a European-style café by the shore, on the second-floor terrace, a few men sat under umbrellas drinking wine and chatting.

Shane stood alone by the railing, eyes half-closed behind his sunglasses, his gaze locked onto Audrey not far away.

She was the same as ever, clinging to a swim ring, standing at the edge of the beach, where the water only reached her ankles, she still wore the ring around her.

Not sure what she was saying to her sisters beside her, but she looked very happy, laughing.

Faye Xavier walked over with a wine glass in hand, glanced at Shane, and then at the beach.

Wearing sunglasses, Faye didn’t know exactly where Shane’s gaze was fixed.

But knowing they had followed little sister-in-law all the way, he looked around the beach for Audrey’s figure, quickly spotting her in a pale blue swimsuit by the shore.

Faye chuckled and teased, "Sis-in-law has quite a figure."

Just then, Shane slightly turned his head in Faye’s direction. Though Faye couldn’t see his expression behind the sunglasses, he felt a cold glare, grinning dryly, "Master Shane sure is lucky, no wonder you’re neglecting your duties every day."

Shane shot him a glance, "Don’t forget the task I assigned to you."

Faye grinned sheepishly, "I won’t forget, but if you’re gonna kill me just for looking at sister-in-law, how would I dare come back after going down to her?"

Just as Faye finished speaking, another voice chimed in from the side, "I’ll go then."

Shane and Faye turned simultaneously to see Lucian Quinn behind them.

Faye immediately teased him, "Not fair, your usual introversion is gone, and now you steal my good assignment?"

Unfazed, Lucian calmly said to Shane, "My brother and Faye don’t have the best reputations..."

Before finishing, Faye interrupted, "Hey, hey, hold up! How are my brother and I disreputable?"

Shane shot Faye a side-eye, prompting him to quiet down.

Lucian continued, "If they asked sister-in-law for help, she might not agree."

Shane thought about it for a couple of seconds, nodding, feeling that Lucian had a point. Initially, he hadn’t considered asking Lucian, feeling that Lucian was quite inept in matters of romance and dealing with women, so he hadn’t thought of entrusting the task to him.

But now with Lucian volunteering and giving good reasons, Shane said, "Let Mor handle it."

Faye protested, "Master Shane, I rehearsed all night, how could you change roles at the last minute?"

Shane replied, "You rehearsed quite wonderfully last night, the walls couldn’t block your room’s noise."

Faye then awkwardly smiled, "I didn’t know she’d be that loud, and she came onto me..."

Shane said, "Alright, go drink your wine, you’re an eyesore standing here."

Faye pouted, slinking back under the umbrella, as Morgan Quinn mercilessly mocked him.

Lucian said, "I’ll head down then."

Shane reminded, "Mm, don’t let anything slip."

Lucian nodded, heading to the side stairs.

Flora and Seraphina were like swimming champions, heading into the water as soon as they got to the beach.

Barry and Audrey each held a swim ring, soaking in the shallower waters.

Lucian made directly towards them, pacing back and forth on the beach until Audrey finally noticed him, "Mor?!"

With excitement, Audrey ran ashore with her swim ring, while Lucian put on an act of coincidence, standing there waiting for her.

"What are you doing here?" Audrey asked as she scanned around, not spotting Shane, "Did you come alone?"

Lucian replied, "With my brother."

Audrey asked, "... Shane didn’t come with you?"

Lucian responded, "He said he had business at home, didn’t come with us."

Audrey just replied with an "Oh." Although she already knew he wasn’t here, the moment she saw Lucian, she instinctively felt Shane was nearby, making her feel disappointed again: "Are you here on business, or vacation?"

Lucian replied, "Vacation, Shane gave us some time off, told us to come have fun."

Audrey asked, "What about Quinn?"

Lucian said, "Off to chase girls."

Audrey chuckled a bit, but before she could say anything, Lucian added, "Actually, I followed Flora here."

Flora was someone Shane had contacted beforehand and was part of their plan.

Lucian volunteered to help carry out the plan for Faye earlier because he knew Flora was involved.

Audrey was stunned, "Huh? You came with Flora?"

Lucian nodded, lips pursed, "I want to ask you for a favor."

Audrey replied, "Huh?"

Lucian took a deep breath, glancing at Flora as she emerged from the water, as if bracing himself for something big, he told Audrey, "...I like her, I want to confess on this island, so I’d like you to help me, surprise her."

Audrey’s eyes widened, never having considered that Lucian and Flora could have such a scenario; they seemed like two people who never crossed paths.

But Lucian wasn’t like Morgan or Faye; his confession about Flora didn’t seem like a joke. Besides, his eyes conveyed sincerity, and Audrey’s impression of him had always been good.

With Lucian making such a request, though caught off guard, she simply followed his lead and asked, "...So how should I help you?"
