Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!
Chapter 50: A Match Made in Heaven
CHAPTER 50: CHAPTER 50: A MATCH MADE IN HEAVEN
During dinner time, there is a piano placed on the curved stage of the restaurant on the second floor.
Audrey Sutton confidently walks up with a microphone, showing no signs of nervousness, and speaks into the microphone: "Good evening, everyone. Today is Miss Morgan and Mr. Sterling’s joyful day,
my husband and I have prepared a song to bless the couple with lasting love and happiness."
After speaking, Audrey gives Shane Warner a glance from the stage, Shane stands up, adjusts his suit, and steps onto the stage with his long legs.
He sits on the black piano bench, his slender fingers touch the black and white keys, and after exchanging glances with Audrey, he begins to play as the musical notes begin to resonate...
The restaurant, originally bustling with chatter, suddenly quiets down.
Shane’s articulate fingers dance on the piano keys, the melodious sound spreading to every corner of the hall.
This isn’t the first time Audrey has heard him play the piano; their meeting actually had a bit of a scene like this.
Except he was on stage, and she was in the audience.
That’s when admiration started.
The name of the song is "For You, For Me" and when Audrey first heard this song, she thought it must be played on her wedding day.
So, at this moment, it’s not only dedicated to the newlyweds, Clarissa Morgan, but also she considers it a dedication to Shane Warner.
As the prelude ends, Audrey picks up the microphone, her voice gently enchanting, captivating the listeners from the very start: "For you, my plain and enduring waiting and companionship ~ For you, my passionate longing and tenderness..."
In the gentle, soft music, everyone hearing it couldn’t help but curl their lips in pleasure and nod in praise.
Looking at the duo on stage performing with such harmony, one couldn’t help but marvel at their perfect match.
While everyone was immersed in the music, showering Shane and Audrey with abundant praise, Lan Irving silently left the restaurant.
Clarissa Morgan’s face sank, Quentin Sterling gently clapped his hands, turning his head to say to Clarissa, "They really are thoughtful, this song is very pleasant and fits perfectly on an occasion like today."
Clarissa gave a perfunctory nod and smile, obviously wishing she were the one singing with Shane Warner on stage.
"...All the trivial things ~ all the everything ~"
As the performance concluded, Audrey Sutton put down the microphone and looked at Shane Warner, who glanced back at her,
his hands ceased as the piano notes faded, he stood up and walked to Audrey’s side, Audrey took the microphone and faced the audience to say, "Hope Miss Morgan and Mr. Sterling enjoyed it, blessings to both."
Quentin Sterling smiled, raised his hand to applaud, leading everyone in the hall to follow suit and clap along.
Shane Warner took Audrey Sutton’s hand, carefully escorting her off the stage amid applause.
Audrey felt she performed well today, both on and off stage.
If the one singing this song on stage today had been Clarissa Morgan, Audrey truly wouldn’t know whether those lyrics were meant for Shane Warner or Quentin Sterling.
After stepping off the stage, more polite exchanges followed, which Audrey left to Shane to handle, while she went running off to find her girlfriends.
"Well done, Audrey, those visits to the karaoke didn’t go to waste." Seraphina Vaughn said, hugging Audrey’s shoulders.
Audrey climbed the ladder with pride: "Exactly, the queen of karaoke isn’t just a title for nothing!"
Flora Lane glanced at her and then at Clarissa, puzzled: "Why do I feel like there’s something a bit off between you and Clarissa?"
Barry Barrett: "What’s odd? I feel Audrey is gonna make the goddess one of our close friends, so does that mean I can easily get her autograph then?"
Flora rolled her eyes at him, saying: "Don’t you all sense anything? I feel Audrey is kind of competing with Clarissa."
Audrey has always thought Flora’s intuition was spot on, she gave Flora a thumbs up, agreeing with her words.
Seraphina Vaughn hastily asks: "Is there a story? Tell us."
"Let’s talk while we eat."
Flora Lane suggested: "Isn’t there a pool on the rooftop terrace? Let’s grab some snacks and sit up there to eat, catch the breeze and relax."
The rooftop terrace had quite a few people, though much quieter compared to the restaurant below.
There was even a self-service barbecue area nearby, enjoying sea breeze with barbecue and chats was simply delightful.
Only then did Audrey notice that Lan Irving was also there.
Sitting alone at the corner table, with her head down, looking at her phone.
Regarding Clarissa Morgan’s and Shane Warner’s matter, Audrey shared what she knew with her friends.
Just a second ago Barry was all "The goddess, the goddess," now he righteously exclaimed: "This is so shameless, knowing someone is getting married yet still clinging on, and it’s her wedding day, she actually is thinking of rekindling old flames?"
Seraphina Vaughn: "But can’t blame her, a man like Shane Warner, if it were me, I’d cherish him too."
Flora Lane mischievously smiles: "Me too."
Barry Barrett: "Now I don’t understand, if she liked the Third Young Master, why marry the young master from The Sterling instead? It’s not just about finding a backup, right?"
This question remained unanswered in Audrey’s heart as well.
With The Sterling as her backing, Audrey didn’t know what tricks Clarissa Morgan might play.
While chatting away, Audrey suddenly noticed an unfamiliar-faced man walking over to sit opposite Lan Irving.
Seeing Lan’s non-surprised gaze, they didn’t seem like strangers, apparently, they knew each other.
Seraphina Vaughn was the know-it-all, so Audrey asked her: "Who’s that man?"
Seraphina glances over, her eyes and tone filled with disdain and contempt: "Him? Ivan Yardley, from Celestine Jewelers, a family legacy brand, once top-notch in this industry, but now the name’s been tarnished by this wastrel, Celestine’s reputation isn’t as good as it used to be, and to mention, he’s your Third Young Master’s rival in business."
"Rival in business?" Audrey thoughtfully considered Seraphina’s words.
As a rival, why would Lan Irving, as someone from Starfield, be mingling closely with someone from Celestine Jewelers?
Is something shady happening behind the scenes?
Just as she was thinking, Audrey saw Ivan Yardley and Lan Irving glance over at her.
Soon after, Ivan stood up, leaving down the aisle.
Lan Irving still looked at her, Audrey finished the skewer she had, took a sip of chilled juice, wiped her mouth with a napkin, and walked towards Lan Irving’s direction.
Settling at the seat opposite her, she smiled and said: "Never thought Sis Irving would have such a memorable encounter on this ship."
Lan Irving chuckled lightly: "It’s not like it’s your husband."
Audrey then revealed the information she dug out from Seraphina Vaughn, retailing it on the spot: "If I’m not mistaken, that one just now was Young Master Yardley from Celestine Jewelers, right? Even as an outsider, I know Starfield and Celestine are arch-enemies, Sis Irving, you being a leading manager at Starfield surely must be aware of these matters, right?"
