Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!
Chapter 500: I’m His Dad
CHAPTER 500: CHAPTER 500: I’M HIS DAD
The next day, the storm had passed.
The air in the morning after the rain was clear, with wet traces left on the ground from last night’s downpour.
The osmanthus flowers in the garden’s greenery bloomed, their fragrance just right, wafting into the room with the breeze.
Inside the room, from the door to the bedside, clothes belonging to a man and a woman were scattered.
On the bed, the two people embraced each other, wrapped in a quilt. On the man’s arm exposed outside the quilt, there were red marks like scratches left by a cat’s paw, obviously left by the woman in his arms last night.
The peaceful scene resembled a painting, and suddenly, the people in the painting moved.
Phoebe King had half her head covered by the quilt, felt her breath was uneasy, as if this led to some nightmare; she hummed a couple of sounds, and began to struggle in Stephen Sutton’s arms.
Stephen Sutton was awakened by her commotion, opened his eyes, and looked down at her. Seeing her pulling her hand out of the quilt, revealing her upper body, he hurriedly pressed her restless twisting arm and pulled the quilt higher.
The memories from last night slowly pieced together in his mind.
In fact, the drug in the wine didn’t reach the point of making people lose consciousness; it just made people feel a certain kind of need.
Perhaps because they had received their marriage certificate during the day, Stephen Sutton indulged his logic and acted impulsively.
In his mind, he was clearly aware of what he was doing, yet he wasn’t as cautious and forbearing as usual.
Under Stephen Sutton’s gaze, Phoebe King opened her eyes.
When Phoebe King opened her eyes and saw him, she thought she was dreaming, appearing somewhat dazed and unresponsive in her sleepy stupor.
The two silently stared at each other for two seconds, then Stephen Sutton spoke softly: "I didn’t expect you were a first-timer."
Phoebe King’s eyes suddenly widened, urgently clutched the quilt, sat up, and lifted the quilt to peek underneath.
Only then did she understand, this wasn’t a mere romantic dream, everything had truly happened.
She swallowed, usually she teased him, but waking up to Stephen Sutton saying such a thing left her unsure of how to respond.
"You... what did you do?!"
Stephen Sutton: "You spiked the wine, don’t you know what I did?"
Phoebe King frowned: "Nonsense! I did not!"
Stephen Sutton laughed softly, he knew it wasn’t her, she had only ever worn a sexy little dress to sway in front of him before, but now they were married, she certainly had no reason to do such a thing.
"You said before, who gave you this wine?"
Phoebe King thought seriously, only now recalling Morgan Quinn’s odd words when he gave her the wine: "That son of a bitch! I’ll go find him!"
Without any post-incident warmth, Phoebe King wrapped in a quilt rushed back to her room, changed her clothes, and with the stance to fight, grabbed her car keys and went out.
Starfield.
"Hey, hey, hey, ma’am, do you have an appointment? You can’t just go in here!"
Phoebe King looked furiously at the security guard blocking her way, asking: "I’m looking for Morgan Quinn!"
Security: "President Quinn? What is your relationship with him? Do you have an appointment? Without an appointment, you can’t go up, it’s company policy, miss, please don’t make it difficult for us."
Phoebe King: "I’m his dad! Tell him to get down here!"
Security: "... Miss, if you keep this up, we will call the police!"
Just as Julian Bishop came to the company, he heard the commotion in the lobby and went over to ask calmly: "What’s going on?"
The security turned their head and saw Julian Bishop, immediately explained: "President Bishop...she says she’s looking for President Quinn, and has been rude..."
Julian Bishop looked Phoebe King up and down for a few seconds, he hadn’t seen Phoebe King before, but had heard Mor and Faye Xavier speak of her, seeing her fiery temper, it should be unmistakable: "Miss King, right?"
Phoebe King noticed Julian Bishop’s polite demeanor, tidied up her clothes, not wanting to look like an unreasonable shrew, lightly coughed and said: "Hello, I’m here to find Morgan Quinn."
Julian Bishop signaled the security with a look to let go and move aside, then said to Phoebe King, "Follow me."
With Julian Bishop leading the way, Phoebe King got through smoothly and took the elevator upstairs.
As soon as she stepped out of the elevator, she saw Morgan Quinn holding a cup of coffee, standing at the secretary’s office door chatting with a girl in business attire.
Phoebe King stepped out of the elevator, walking with verve briskly towards Morgan Quinn.
Upon hearing the sound of high heels, Morgan Quinn turned his head with a laugh, surprised: "Phoebe? A rare visitor indeed! What brings you here?"
Phoebe King walked over, glanced at the girl beside Morgan Quinn, thinking at least he had to show some face in front of the staff as a President Quinn in the company. So Phoebe King, in a relatively polite tone, said: "Come with me."
Morgan Quinn laughed, puzzled: "What’s up?"
Turning his head, Lucian Quinn squinted his peach blossom-like eyes slightly, smiling at the girl beside him: "Leanne, you get busy first, we’ll have lunch together at noon."
Having said that, Morgan Quinn lifted his foot and led Phoebe King into his office.
Just upon entering the room, with the door still open, Phoebe King sharply grabbed his ear: "Look at the mess you’ve made!"
Unprepared, Morgan Quinn covered his ear, shouting in pain: "Lady, why are you acting crazy this early? Let go!"
Phoebe King not only didn’t let go, but turned his ear like a switch: "Don’t play dumb?! What about that bottle of wine yesterday?!"
Upon mentioning that bottle of wine, Morgan Quinn realized and pried Phoebe King’s hand off: "Haha, what’s up? The romantic night didn’t go as expected?"
"Romance my foot! Did you tamper with that wine?"
Morgan Quinn chuckled: "Didn’t you say you got your certificate yesterday? For a moment, I didn’t know what gift to give, so I thought of something practical... That drug isn’t cheap, the latest version, doesn’t cloud minds, only ignites desires, promises a dreamlike wedding night."
Phoebe King clenched her fist wanting to hit him, Morgan Quinn raised his eyebrow mischievously, asking: "Judging by your look, you must have tried it, how was the effect?"
"Morgan Quinn I’ll clean your clock!"
Morgan Quinn laughed cheekily: "My brother okay? I don’t have a sister."
Phoebe King angrily stepped on his foot with her high-heel, causing Morgan Quinn to yelp in pain: "You nasty woman, too cruel!"
Seeing Morgan Quinn grimacing in pain, Phoebe King’s anger slightly subsided: "This is light! You know well my beloved already thinks I’m not serious, and you set me up with this, he thought I was the one who drugged him!"
Morgan Quinn: "That’s between you two, why come to vent on me? It was well-intentioned."
Phoebe King glared at him, pushing the door open while walking out: "You’re never reliable, I’ll call Luc and have him teach you a lesson!"
Morgan Quinn dismissed it with a cold snort, speaking to Phoebe King’s departing figure: "What does he count for, teaching me? Besides, what did I do wrong? A fool misunderstands a saint!"
