CHAPTER 501: CHAPTER 501: THE LITTLE CHUBBY

In the morning, Fourth Brother came over and took both General and Pea away.

Even though Audrey Sutton knew it was temporary, she felt quite sad watching General look back at them from the car’s rear window as he was taken away.

When Shane Warner is not at home, she relies entirely on General and Pea to keep her company.

However, Shane Warner has work to do and still tries to make time to take care of her, so he doesn’t really have much time left for the pets.

Fourth Brother has been raising pets for years; he’s practically a professional. Leaving them in his care doesn’t worry Audrey Sutton, though the house feels a bit empty.

After Shane Warner leaves for work, Audrey Sutton can’t stay idle at home. She waits for the laundry to finish, hangs up the clothes, and then heads to school.

Her classes today are like Barry Barrett’s, with nothing in the morning and classes only starting in the afternoon.

When Audrey Sutton arrives at school, it’s nearly eleven. In the dorm, she finds Barry Barrett fully focused, wearing headphones while sitting in front of the computer. Audrey wonders if she’s turned a new leaf and started working on the painting assignments from the teacher, but she sees the game screen after walking over.

Audrey Sutton reaches out to remove her headphones, making Barry finally aware of her presence. "Sutton? What brings you to school at this hour?"

Audrey Sutton pulls out a chair beside Barry and sits down. "I’m bored, so I came to find you and hang out."

Barry rolls her eyes, saying, "I knew it. Your Third Young Master must be busy and can’t keep you company, so only when you’re out of options you think of us."

Audrey Sutton doesn’t deny it and smiles. "You guessed right. I heard Brother Seraphina has already gone for an internship. Why haven’t you found a job yet?"

Barry, focused on the computer, controls both the mouse and keyboard while saying, "An internship? At her cousin brother’s company, she’s just loafing around, munching on sunflower seeds, and watching TV all day. Then she comes back to us complaining she’s exhausted. Just imagine!"

Audrey Sutton comments, "As long as you finish the assignment for the teacher. Teachers only care about employment rates."

Barry sighs, "Yeah, that’s why I’ve been getting messages these days. Last time, the teacher recommended me to apply at an ad agency, and I didn’t even pass the interview. They said my design direction was completely off from what they proposed. I’m just an illustration major. Now they want me to do ad design? It’s unrealistic!"

Audrey Sutton recalls, "Weren’t there many seniors who ventured into advertising design? It’s quite promising."

Barry shakes her head, "Not promising at all. Gaming and watching anime feel much better. I’ve already planned it. Once I graduate, I’ll become a full-time cosplayer. I’ve got a decent number of followers on X. I could take on some advertisements and sell stuff, enough to support myself."

Audrey Sutton teases her, "If you continue like this, you might not graduate. Why not follow Brother Seraphina’s example, find a random job and just get that diploma?"

Barry winks suggestively, "Is your Third Young Master’s company hiring?"

Seeing Barry’s cheeky eyes, Audrey immediately replies, "No way!"

Barry teases, "Look at you! It’s not like I’m going to steal your Third Young Master. It’s just I’ve noticed some handsome guys around him, and maybe I’ll bump into my true love?"

Audrey Sutton reminds her, "Who was it that said recently they only wanted to make money, not fall in love?"

Barry shrugs it off, "That was then, and this is now."

Audrey Sutton’s eyes twinkle with a bright idea. "How about I ask Shane during lunch if there are any suitable openings at his company for us? We could work together."

Barry nods enthusiastically, "Sounds great! It’s better with company."

Audrey Sutton agrees, "It’ll be a good way to experience the workplace."

Barry rolls her eyes teasingly, "Why go to your husband’s company if you want to experience work? Isn’t he going to protect you all the time? If you truly want an experience, go to a company where you’re a complete stranger. Only then will you understand the harshness of reality!"

Audrey Sutton lifts her head pridefully, "Even if I wanted to go, my husband wouldn’t allow it."

Barry nudges her, "Go away! Every word you say reeks of love!"

Audrey Sutton giggles, "Is there any more of that sugared plum candy?"

Barry says, "In Flora’s drawer. Help yourself."

Audrey Sutton gets up to look while Barry is engrossed in her game, suddenly puts the mouse down. "What time is it?"

Audrey Sutton casually replies, "Almost eleven, I think?"

Barry, abandoning her unfinished game, scrambles to find her phone under the chip bags.

Seeing Barry’s flustered behavior, Audrey Sutton asks, "What’s up? Which crush is asking you out for lunch?"

Barry, too busy to joke, responds, "Two minutes to go, hurry and help me grab them."

Audrey Sutton checks with the bag of candy in hand, "Grab what?"

Barry exclaims, "Simon Sue’s concert tickets! It’s at the Rivia Central Stadium; it’s so close that I must attend!"

Audrey Sutton asks, "Simon Sue?"

Barry urges, "Stop talking and help me grab them!"

Audrey Sutton fetches her phone, downloads the ticket-buying app that Barry mentions, and presses the purchase button right on time, only to see a purchase failure message...

Then Barry howls, "Ugh! Just how fast are these people?! Sold out in a second?!"

Audrey Sutton returns quietly, seeing the ticket page showing sold out.

She had heard that Simon Sue was popular but didn’t expect this level of popularity.

"Is his singing that good?"

Barry, as if judging, says, "Don’t tell me you’ve never heard of him."

Audrey Sutton, after a pause, genuinely thinks, "I don’t really have any impression. Maybe I’ve heard it, but didn’t know it was him. I usually don’t look at song titles when I listen to music now."

Barry begins to praise her idol with passion, "Simon Sue’s concerts! Even if he sings okay, he is eye candy! Plus, I’ve seen his previous concert videos, and it’s always so lively and amazing. I’ve always wanted to experience it live, and now I can’t even get a ticket."

Audrey Sutton, influenced by Barry, also wants to watch and see how far this former chubby kid has come.

Audrey Sutton suggests, "Wait a minute, I’ll see if I can get some tickets."

Barry asks, "Where will you get them? Does your Third Young Master have connections in this?"

Audrey Sutton just gives a mysterious smile, doesn’t answer, but lies on Barry’s bed and scrolls through her dusty contacts list to find Su.

Her fingers quickly type a line: Chubby kid, come out.

As she starts typing the next line, she sees the typing indicator in the corner, and soon Simon Sue’s reply pops up: The one who is chubby should know themselves!

Audrey Sutton: I heard you’re having a concert in Rivia soon?

Simon Sue: Yep, next month. Why, are you coming?
